Actually, the way the battle system is, with drug effects and the overpowered temp items, it's pretty easy to hit well above your stat level. If you're active and train the right way, you will gain on all but the top 1%. There's plenty of people who have done it. There's players with 7 digit IDs in the top 1%. That means over a million others joined before them, and they surpassed most of them.
You people expect the government to do everything for you. The invisible hand of the market will opt non-participating players out of the competition. Any player with half a brain, who is legitimately trying to take dog tags, is going to look at a target's profile and see if that target has been attacking out and has attacks in. The attacker will be able to reasonably conclude if a target has not been participating and thus does not have a tag. There is no need for an opt out mechanism. Take a few meds and move on.
So why is it that my lvl 20 colleagues in my company have all been attacked by stealth attackers and one shotted by people clearly miles more powerful than them?
From what I've heard so far from them they've yet to have a win from being attacked by an opponent of their own level or stats. As soon as anyone makes any sort of move that posts to the homepage they get hit. Level is completely irrelevant as long as the attacker is sufficiently well statted.
I know of at least one level 70+ who is doing this since he doesn't stealth, in addition there have been high stat players reaping through the company I'm in one at a time. Bearing in mind I'm only level forty and the others are barely half that, it seems that your argument doesn't hold.
Sure there are plenty of honorable or fair high level players on Torn who want to challenge themselves, but there are also a ton of predators who just want tags and don't really give a monkeys about how annoying it is for the lower levels they constantly molest.
I don't think it is but its a great chance to prove to yourself and some of your friends that your not messing around, I think its a fun competition and a great chance to just make some merits if anything.
The point is, you would display a Red Tag or something on your profile page that told tag seekers to move along. Thus the tenure of this competition would be no different for you than if there was no competition.
im pretty sure my stats rank will suffer, you are right oh wise one xD but the comp is over now that my goal is complete, however my pal http://www.torn.com/profiles.php?XID=280712 has over 125 tags, and hates having them taken. have fun guys!
Don't be ridiculous. I clearly already stated that it was expected that muggings and hospitalizations would happen as normal for me as I would certainly expect.
Please, if you must argue with me, at least be polite enough to take the time actually read the statements I make.
Once again, the only difference under and opt out strategy is you would not have an increase in the number of attacks on you related to the competition. Btw, it should make the competition more competitive because you are only hitting/being for tags by those who are strong enough. No more race to the lead by preying on inactives and new players. GASP SHOCK! IT might become a challenge for you all!
Crappy competition skewed to the very powerful. Chedburn screwed the pooch with this one... Only the top 10% or so have a chance at winning. The rest just suffer for two weeks.
I don't mind the competition but couldn't be bothered with it much this year. It would be better if stealth was off during competition. No stealth real team work!
