    Take it from me, it's the single most important number on torn and is used to measure your E-penor. When in an argument it's a known rule that the higher the karma the more correct that person is.

You like a post you click thumbs up, you dont like a post you give a thumbs down - note there are some people who bounty you if you dislike a post, these people are "special".

I clicked the "thumbs up" on your post. That gave you 1 karma point. Here in a minute, someone else will click "thumbs down", which will remove a karma point. (Well, maybe not, but it wouldn't surprise me.)

When it was first made, the theory was that people who post lots of good info would gain lots of karma. In practice, I'm not sure it really works out that way.

If you have over 1,000 karma, you can post in a different subforum. I forget the name of it, but the phrase "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" comes to mind.

we had score :)


that was interesting, got score for posting, making threads but also lost score for graving/deleting a thread - however the biggest difference was you could get a negative score.

Karma is the total of all up-rates and all down-rates.

When you get to 1000, you obtain access to the VIP area.
Which is pretty useless, really.

Karma was intended as a system to encourage quality posting in the forums, but I don't think it really lived up to the intention. Some always uprate what they agree with, and downrate what they don't like. Some always uprate friends, and downrate people they don't like.

And some say karma is meaningless, but base their whole game on it.

So...basically...
Karma is what you want it to be :D

It's a shame we can't tag people into a post.

No matter...I'm sure MarlonBrando will be along in a little while trying to convince everyone (including himself) that karma means nothing...
