So, I see a few new staffers which is obviously all great. For reasons which are an internal staff matter, one of them shouldn't have been made staff.
That person has had their account noted with the reasons of why they were destaffed before and Chedburn was made personally aware about this. When I hired my round of staff members, I personally checked each player's account history (notes, mails, chats, etc) to make sure they were suitable and had no past account issues. A group of secretaries also vetted the account for any multis.
I have absolutely no idea where this game is going, but it's not in a good direction... If the above is not happening to the players which are being made staff, then this is deeply concerning, probably even more so than any rule changes. It would appear the next move is to allow complete "freedom" for everything.
What, as a minimum, checks do you think should be in place for staff to be selected?
Do you feel happy about someone who was staff before being staff again where they were destaffed previously?
I think it would depend on the person, what was noted, and by whom. Also, how long ago was it? I know I'm a different person now than I was when I signed up, and I was already an adult. Imagine someone who signed up when they were 15 and are now 24... that's a huge difference.
It would depemd greatly on what they were fired for. However, if you of all people feel the offense is severe enough that you feel it proper to voice your concerns here....that is worrying.
Corruption (to use a simple term) has been a concern of the player base for some time-- and with some (emphasis SOME) justification. Making staff appear to be a good ole' boy network does little to alleviate that concern.
Ched does a great job, so I have faith he will get it right in the long term. Its up to Ched and probable the player committee now to determine the hoops for new staff to jump through, not ex-admins.
Maybe they were destaffed by an old staff member who held a grudge against them? Not sure why this thread was started since players don't know the internal investigations and we never will. Seems this thread was started more just to stir the pot between staff and players now.
If this is what is happening, it is not a good thing at all.
There are thousands of members available on this site, the probability of someone among the multitudes of people that can be staff as opposed to a person who was previously dismissed should be an easy solution.
To not look somewhere new seems like a highly illogical solution to an apparently trivial problem.
And I didn't think It was okay for staff now or before to talk about Internal investigations or any staff related issues. Maybe you should use that report button on there staff profile or mail ched directly If you have a genuine concern so ched can investigate it instead of starting pointless threads on topics that the players can't contribute on since we are not allowed access to any of the info.
This thread is about the process of staff selection, taking into account previous history, and how this hasn't been followed here. Along with the communities feelings towards that process :)
