Yes but as for everyone else, why not just simply revert all progress with stocks back to how they were, and reverting the money gained or lost in transactions, nullifying any gains without leaving people billions in debt.
Just cleaner. And less punishing the innocent with the guilty.
I was never on committee, but I guess since I'm part of a shady faction this will never happen. You should just decline my application now hey? In a crime game getting called shady should be a compliment, and but the way you have addressed this basically calls a group of players cheaters by association.
The profits in this period were not only nullified, but the profits made months later as a result of holding those stocks fair longer than most other stock traders. Its not fair and its complete bullshit. I reinvested these profits and lost 6% on it equivalent to 7-8b on PRN, yet this into taken into consideration is it? You take 80% of my networth, and its a fair outcome? Get real Ched, we either did something wrong and you can prove it, or you cant. Just because most of the public doesn't understand the stock system doesn't mean those that do should be penalized. Players made decisions to build dirty bombs, use stat enhancers, buy collectiables on the basis of having earned these profits.
Removing the entire sum of profits is wrong and it negatively affects these players as a result.
Standard Ched procedure in this case would be to take away the money in the transactions, so they'd be paying for the stats anyway, like I said in the prior comment. Apologies if I wasn't clear enough.
Of course, that is an option. It's not ideal but it is an option.
im really surprised SA committee aint been all removed from their shady ass shit if this is the case. RMT, multies, nabisco, billiken (i could be wrong but i think he was removed from wssb on the date in the 'window of info' - dont quote me on this), midknight.
Ched does a great job, so I have faith he will get it right in the long term. Its up to Ched and probable the player committee now to determine the hoops for new staff to jump through, not ex-admins.
Oh sorry, I presumed you were on the committee - I actually don't have an easy method of finding out (usually notes are left on the accounts, but it never was for you). Either way, that wasn't my point.
I'm sure there were normal (and totally innocent) stock traders caught up in it, there's really no way to tell the difference. In fact, maybe every single person involved was innocent, I'm not denying the possibility. But the huge amount of... suspicion, conspiracy theories, confusion, misinformation, black mark on the committee...
I had two options.
a) Leave everything how it was.
b) Reverse the profit made during that window.
There's really no other sensible options available, and some people would be angry at either option. Option B resolves the WSSB scandal, and only deducts profits (no initial funds). It's a difficult position to be in, but I think I made the right choice, and hopefully the large majority of the community does too.
I should mention: I completely agree it's not ideal and is unfair. But I can't really see any other method of resolving it. Sure, I could have removed literally just the profit in-between the windows, and kept the profit on those transactions made after the window - but I wanted to ensure every bit of profit made from any purchases inside the window was removed.
I am sorry to the people who were caught up in it, who may well have been innocent. But this is a very, very rare situation that I think required special measures.
As a noob who doesn't know any of these people I feel for Hank on this one. It was clear as day that this stock would rise as soon as the benefit was removed and the post was responded to in bugs and issues. Even as a total stocks noob it was obvious. If I'd had billions to risk I would definitely have used them here. No "insider trading" was required to capitalise on this - just common sense and paying attention.
Even a moron at stocks like myself could see it was a good time at the window that was used for this deletion. The stocks were trending up after a year of being stagnant and the bonus was removed.
I'm not sure that this is a reasonable solution when a certain highly suspicious player hasn't lost a penny.
