I made a thread a out this but the problem remains and issue needs to be addressed.
Ched there is a huge issue with no cooldowns to NPC adding shares after a stock has been 0d - you have an npc which has nearly doubled the market cap of tcb in under a month. The fact I'm making this bug report is due to the NPC adding shares within hours of it being 0d. It's illogical for the NPC to do this, at current rate were going to see 100 billion shares of tcb on the market by 2018.
Ched has continuously said there is no issue with this. This is the system he wants. Stop complaining about it and putting it in bugs/issues. If you dont like it make a suggestion.
If all the new shares are all bought up - what's the problem?
It sounds like you're suggesting we should limit the available amount of shares in stocks so once they're all purchased, that's it for a considerable amount of time, blocking people from buying into them?
Right now TCB is crashing, and that's fine stocks are stocks and they will crash (i'll likely lose 25% of my entire networth which took me months but that's the risks that stocks come with)
The NPC adding shares effectively devalues shares - for example, TCB has had the total shares doubled in under a month - each time shares added it devalued the shares bought beforehand - which once again is also fine, but doing it within hours/days of shares being added fuels stocks crashing.
I would rather there was a 1-week window before shares could be added by the NPC - it encourages shares to still be added and bought by players while giving enough time for stocks to relax and enough time to not devalue player owned shares within hours of being purchased due to the unpredictability of the NPC. The NPC will add shares soon, i'm sure - TCB crashing from $900 to less than $450 is what it is but then selling shares at $450 after just selling 2.2-2.3B shares at $600 means those who invested at $600 a share have no chance with 180 days to realistically sell at even a -10% value as these new shares is what will now be actively traded (bought and sold) within the stocks new range.
a cooldown period of a week as a constant to all stocks in terms of adding shares is something i'd prefer, though i know something that would need to come in via suggestion or committee discussion but if the fact the NPC added billions of shares within hours isn't a concern or the fact that the NPC has doubled the total shares in the market for a stock somehow isn't concerning them this is really a confidence issue within the stock market.
Your figures showed the NPC sold 1.6T worth of shares more than bought, your NPC removes more money than adds going by your values (Pen's 26th day on the stock market without selling) - Obviously your goal for the NPC is to remove more money than add any at all, so I can see why you'd be fine with the stock wiping over 2T in value within 48-72 hours but as a player I hope you can at least look at it.
>The NPC adding shares effectively devalues shares - for example It doesn't devalue any shares, at least not mechanically. NPC listed shares don't effect the price whatsoever.
>TCB has had the total shares doubled in under a month I think that's to be expected, total shares are increased as the NPC adds them, and decreased as the NPC buys them. I think it'd not be uncommon for this to happen if a stock was very popular (doubling increase) or very unpopular (doubling decrease).
>but doing it within hours/days of shares being added fuels stocks crashing. Again, it doesn't affect the price of shares whatsoever. If others are also selling shares, the real players are given priority. NPC shares are only sold if no player-listed shares are available.
>Obviously your goal for the NPC is to remove more money than add any at all It's neither, it's a 1:1 ratio.
Perhaps you're suggesting the NPC is eating up the potential future demand that players could cash in on when they wish to sell?
I'm more than happy to add a limiter, although how it is now is already rare (once per week on average). So could potentially be nothing added by the NPC for 3-4 weeks, or two added within an hour. I just want to ensure I understand the reasoning for it.

A 1:1 ratio? You mean in order for me to recover the 100b+ loss I have from TCB some other players have either to buy and loose 100b collectively?
If all big investors withdraw from the market then I will never recover this money? Plus with smaller sale values prioritised in the npc buy queue bigger investors are disadvantaged?
"Perhaps you're suggesting the NPC is eating up the potential future demand that players could cash in on when they wish to sell?"
That's exactly what he's saying. By adding shares like this during a massive crash that looks admin driven you punish the holders by giving shares away at low price. The key here being admin driven. In addition it creates a harder to sell environment on any even partial recoveries.
Basically what looks like an admin created crash is also adding a bunch of shares as it goes. So you have abnormal market activity smashing the ones invested on it, then the additional shares being salt.
Well it's great that while doing this the NPC went ahead and added yet another 1.6 billion shares onto the market during this 1 week "average"
>It doesn't devalue any shares, at least not mechanically. NPC listed shares don't effect the price whatsoever.
yes it does, now when a player buys at the current price they will sell at 5% above what they paid causing the stock to crash due to the nature of NPC buying back stock - it's so unlikely that the stock will ever go up in value now that over 11 billion shares are on the market vs the 5 billion less than a month ago.
>I think that's to be expected, total shares are increased as the NPC adds them, and decreased as the NPC buys them. I think it'd not be uncommon for this to happen if a stock was very popular (doubling increase) or very unpopular (doubling decrease).
or instead why doesn't the value go up and encourage players to sell shares instead? why does the NPC have to add shares to the system while it's crashing but instead have values go out due to price crashing and players are then encouraged to sell? is this system designed to simply have users put money into the stocks and then crash it to the point that players sell? (adding shares is why suddenly player shares have so little value as the NPC can add at whatever price he feels like vs users who are forced to hold until a price range)
>Again, it doesn't affect the price of shares whatsoever. If others are also selling shares, the real players are given priority. NPC shares are only sold if no player-listed shares are available.
It encourages those who buy at a cheaper price to sell at a cheaper price - with how stocks work even now TCB has been 0'd for over 24 hours with high demand (high demand while being 0'd after 2.2b+ shares were removed near instantly?) so while shares are introduced to this new "low" everyone else is effectively ****ed over due to the NPC introducing cheaper shares.
>It's neither, it's a 1:1 ratio.
"In the last year, the stock NPC has bought $40,564,578,170,307 and sold $42,240,860,426,453." - if it was a 1:1 ratio why on earth over the span of the entire year 1674 billion was removed in total, if the goal is 1:1 that large of a gap is crazy.
edit: just to be clear, sure stocks crash and that's what stocks do - the fact the NPC adds "discounted" shares in comparison to those bought HOURS after being bought ruins the chance of share value increase due to new purchases now deciding when "selling" starts. - reducing shares being sold so often would at least give the stocks a chance at recovering before the NPC decides what the new "sell range" is - not the NPC through flooding shares..
It does look deliberate... when a stock like TCB falls completely out of trend, it looks suspicious, especially while it's adding shares and continuing to destroy peoples profits.
Same to be said about WSSB... Which has been "good" forecast for days and here I am, down 13%. That seems like a deliberate mechanic change.
My shares wont sell. People are buying them here or there... but currently we have a stock forecasted "good" that the system wont buy back. My shares arent even in the queue lol
What's happening to both makes sense as to why it's happening. The shares being added while doing it is just an extra slap in the face though for sure. I'll give you props for having the balls to go in on WSSB in the state it was in though, that was a super risky buy but sometimes those pay off the most.
They do occasionally in smaller amounts, which we've seen sometimes. It's when Ched tells the economist to tweak one in a big way that such extreme changes hit though. (IMO) I could be way off here but I doubt it.
