Okay so I heard that there used to be a button to set your faction as peaceful if you didn't wanna do wars.

I don't know if that's certain BUT it's an amazing idea, because for some factions they don't want war just a place to have all your friends together and gain respect from crimes.
Grif [882958]

my faction that i was in/led for a long period of time used to do this

constantly in peacemode for a set amount of respect

problem with that is you will never have enough respect for anything, also in that situation you wouldnt be able to have any terrirtoes because that would be unfair

so youd have no decent way to make respect
Sweeney_Todd [27468]

The reason it is no longer here proves how pointless it was...

Factions are made for war, that is their reason to exist... []

Wouldn't be a bad idea, IF peace was limited...Say each faction allowed to enter Training Mode for a 15 day period, during which time no one can declare, but can only do it once every 45/90 days maybe.

Peaceful faction may not be able to gain respect but you could buy a faction with enough respect for all your needs. Never hold a territory, never war, minimal gains from crimes.

Only because the crime side of factions is made so generic.

I'd love to see factions pop up for reasons besides war, by tying respect bonuses to more things, such as revives, diversifying factions as a whole would allow for more specific choices of playstyle, and take Torn away from just being a glorified war game that it currently is.

The only reason this didn't work before, is because the systems for actually giving factiosn a purpose besides war did not exist. Why not create them?

[image: images.duckduckgo.com]JFK Art of War (JWAR) Peace Button: If a faction has more then ten (10) Peace Treaties, their faction and all their team profiles should have this button, along with a Peace to All Merit, Peace Honor Bar, and best of all a Peace to All Immune Option for faction to set (Prevents all War declares and make entire faction team immune to attacks, and wars.)

Give Peace a Chance, It is about time for Torn, highest stat warring monopolies are not warring at all, that is where the stagnancy is, due to the monopolies themselves unwillingness to engage when declared on, so why not have a Peace Button Zero Wars Option..

I agree with the sentiment here. I wouldnt want to see peaceful factions. Factions have a lot of content and most competitive gameplay is done through faction wars. I would contend though that if factions are primarily dedicated to war, that OCs or some crime-party system should be independent of them or at least not be faction specific
AshleyT [1432316]

You just highlighted a major problem in Torn. There isn't enough competitive gameplay outside of war. Torn plays out more like a war game than a crime RPG.

Actually having a Torn Peace Option for factions, makes alot of sense, warring factions continually take advantage of peaceful factions and players, draggin them into prolonged conflicts that they way have no part of, for their own respect building benefit, if the warring factions could not "kill the sheep" of the game, then they would have to war each other to build their respect, (eg. imagine all JFK monopolies factions and allies actually warring each other, and all the other HOF monopolies factions, get the picture) War would then be more enjoyable to watch, and more competitive, with alot more game activity.

Instead, we keep setting up these passive, easy to gain respect and merits situations for players, and top factions, make it harder, have hem war players and factions with equal stats, and also give a random chance (1%) for any player in the game to beat any of the top players,in any faction anytime, now that would be fun, and great for the game !

In my opinion, this has always been a design error, not having the Peace Button and a fast Surrender Button, to keep game activity at a much higher level and more competitiive level. Right now its "inactive faction sheep wars" for most of the top players and factions, this is boring for them also.

Lets get this game back on the right more competitive track again, with "old school chaining" between the top factions in the game !

Created a new Suggestion for a Give Peace a Chance Button, Honor Bar, Merit, Surrender Button, and Immune to War Peace Button, for all factions with ten (10) or over Peace Treaties intact.

Enjoy the game and all the Holidays 2017

You could only only be peaceful until you hit the war button. Once you went to war you could not go back to being a peaceful faction. The idea was to let newer factions get a chance to develop before they started warring. Back then you could get zeroed out and destroyed fairly easy. Its actually how I ended up being a faction leader. Our faction went to warring mode but had a jackass for a leader. He was offensive and it became clear after the first day he had offended a few enough to ensure our faction would be zeroed. So we started a new one. The leader got so offended with the idea that we were going to lose the original faction he would quit. Thats the short history of the Buds in Torn.

Write the long history of the Buds in Torn so that I along with the other Komrades can thoroughly understand the situation. Thanks Obama! ^o^

Peaceful factions where awesome in the day sure respect gains sucked but you had a none war community to slowly build up benefits problem was the lack of cannon fodder for the elite so sadly it got axed sad day.... Back then people where more interested in factions. Not everyone wants war and moaning and shit talk.
