I dont know a lot about software development but I do know about project management. Hopefully there is a recognition that the way things have been done in the past is just not working in that it takes too long. The updates are good quality imo, but development is too slow. Purely based on the weekly developer focus list, it seems like there are too many projects going on at the same time and each one is under resourced.

So, I would hope these new developers will be a focused team that brings major projects to completion. If Ched is just going to fan them out to each work on some small item, like, hey, you work on drugs 2.0, you work on the silly hat update, you work on the pubic hair update, etc, then these new resources will result in more disappointment. Have five people working on the warring update, then when they are done, have them work on crimes 2.0, etc.

Adding more developers doesn't necessarily mean certain updates are completed quicker - in most cases multiple developers can't work on a single feature at the same time (it's not physically possible) unless it's large and has many parts. Usually for each feature, you have one front-end developer and one back-end developer assigned to it.

It does mean however that more projects can progress simultaneously with less delays / interruptions.

I didn't bother putting that, because even though science has come a long way with amazing discoveries (DNA, quantum mechanics, string theory, medicines etc) I think even the GREATEST minds would struggle to do something with his brain.

Apart from maybe using it as tinder to light a tiny fire suitable to warm a mouse's arse..

I think what is frustrating a lot of people lately is that it appears from the developer focus list that no one is working on the warring updates, meanwhile developers seem to be assigned to frivolous projects. The community wants to see warring and Crimes 2.0. Those seem to be the updates that will legitimately change how we all play the game. I recognize different developers have different skills so it is not as simple as just reassigning people. However, whatever you can do to move those two projects along will go a long way in the communities eyes.

That's correct! There's currently no people working on warring nor Crimes 2.0.

Crimes 2.0 : Torn's lead developer (Pavel) knows the plan and existing system fully inside and out. He currently has other priorities and I agree that those priorities should be completed first so when development starts again - it doesn't stop until it's all totally done. The front-end developer of this project is also leaving Torn in the near future (two developers will be trained in, and take over his responsibilities).

Warring : There is one developer (Sergey) who's now very specialised in the faction system. He built the back-end of the city map, territory system and chaining, so it's absolutely essential that he works on destructive and competitive warring too. The Bookie was meant to be a smaller update for him to slot between Chaining & Destructive warring updates, however it was hit with delays and rebuilds (we were forced to totally change the API we were using for bookies at the last moment). Once bookies is completed (it's like 98%) he can begin working on Destructive Warring while making fixes to the bookie.

I think that explains things pretty nicely, and logically shows how we're in this situation.
