Hello everyone, after reading the article written on level 1s I was wondering if you guys think Torn should have a prestige option?
The player would reach level 100 then be given the option to start over. Upon starting over the player would get some kind of reward surely. But would you do it?
Topic: would you prestige if possible? Why? what bonus/reward do you think would make a prestige worth it?
perhaps it could be simple like a player receives a stat called "luck" this luck stat could have a random chance (increased with each prestige) of doing something cool. like a guaranteed win in a fight. or guaranteed crime success. or even a passive reduction in mugs/mug chance. or you can get a slew of random events like "you found a briefcase with X% of your network in it with a note saying XXXXX" the list goes on.
Based on what I have seen in Ched's responses over the years to anything related to the Level 100 cap, the question arises is why is a reset level/prestige needed for any of that.
Definitely fun to think about perks and rewards that can be earned for XP, but if it is just that, it doesn't seem like a level restart/prestige would be needed. XP is continuously gained for each players activity, so XP would be same for a L100 who stays at level 100 but still gains XP than it would be for a L100 who prestige/restart level and is now a L5prestige. the XP would all be the same; the only difference would be the outward appearance of a level number, which to Ched's concerns would likely be confusing on many ends if there were different levels of each level.
I think if it is perks one is after for reaching XP milestones, then give the perks out for reaching the milestones, but just don't think Ched will see it necessary or useful to restart levels.
Just increasing cap And handing out a merit per 10 level or something And Double xp needed per level. Easy But boring fix. But it would be something to grind on if anyone could be assed.
i doubt prestigeing would be the Good. Doubt any level 100s would just give up their account almost to pretty much restart with an additional perk of some sort.
The idea of prestiging always comes with the downside of resetting stats, why would anyone who is level 100 want to reset their account to level 1 after many years of work? I can't think of any sort of buff or perk that'll be worth resetting your account from level 100 to level 1 for.
I agree some kind of objective is needed for after reaching level 100, but I don't think restart is a solution, not many people would take that option...maybe simply adding increasingly powerful perks? Similar to what factions have and instead of respect people would use EXP?...I remember seeing this idea somewhere and I think it's the best middle ground.
To me it would be an insult to the real level holders who have been working on this for years, the whole purpose of them is not to have the advantages other players have and then some pesky L100 player decides to reset his level to L1? Bad idea
Would be cool, but Ched won't consider touching level cap until there are thousands lvl100s and it's completely meaningless, so just give it a couple years.
