Now I know people generally consider buy muggers to be horrible people (I may be hyperbolizing). But aside from that, is there any mugging that is looked down upon?

Not really, mugging is mugging regardless of how it happens. Obviously buy mugging and mugging overseas is seen as a bit of a crappy thing to do. But its a crime game.

Not really, mugging is mugging regardless of how it happens. Obviously buy mugging and mugging overseas is seen as a bit of a crappy thing to do. But its a crime game.

I think mugging in general is a low thing to do, but everybody does it. Buy mugging, mugging overseas are definitely frowned upon.
I don't entirely agree with JussiJernkuuk, I think buymugging enough will destroy your rep eventually (eventually, being the key word). You'll make a lot of enemies.
Mugging your buyers is kind of rude and likely to scare off their business, and also doesn’t work nearly as well as buymugging. Kicking someone from your poker table to mug is considered unsporting as well. I think cancelling a trade to mug is on the level of buymugging, but if someone trusts you enough to store their cash in a ghost trade and you cancel it to mug them that’s a huge dick move.
Obviously don’t mug your faction, friends, or allies. That’s the only thing that really makes pretty much everyone mad.
Buy mugging will gain you enemies but it can be decent cash if you have good stats, enough liquid money and an understanding of the market.
People will whine over any kind of mugging tbh, buy-mugging is very easy to prevent nowadays and far for scamming, go for it!
Yeah thanks for all the answers. I don't plan to buy mug but wanted to hear more about mugging from the pov of other players who have been here longer than I. Eventually I will mug more, still early for me I think
Well.. .I just got mugged during an attack I initiated for the completion of a mission. Now I understand that perhaps he thought I was a good target just getting to Caymans... but come on.. use a little logic.. I own a company. I own a faction.... I rarely go to the Caymans... Chances that I will ever have a lot of money on me is slim! The lousy 100k the dude got wasn't worth his own 25e let alone mine. All he really did was make me irritated. Since I try to practice the Golden Rule, I would have to say that good etiquette should be to pay attention to the people you mug. I don't mug random people who are online, especially if we are overseas, and I especially would back out if I saw they were already in an attack. That's just stupid... The guy could have asked me for money and gotten more than he mugged. No he can just go suck it!

It's borderline scamming.
Usually i am not bother of normal mugging (especially that i don't carry much cash with me). But what really annoys me the most is getting mugged abroad, and not for the money loss but for the hops time that you can't remove with meds.
Buy-muggers can be a little annoying. I try to avoid them by selling and travelling to a close country. But of course, i did get mugged during my time on torn. It is a little bothersome but i usually blacklist the buy-mugger to avoid the problem repeating itself and that's it. I don't bother my self with hate messages or bounties, i just ignore the buy-mugger.
Scamming for me is regarded similarly as buy-mugging but i never really got scammed so far. Hopefully i never have to deal with that problem :D
You got mug protection, self hosp, and like 50 million ways to bank that cash.
In the past this sorta stuff didn’t exist. Torn has become nice and cushy now.

More like robbing or stealing, there's no deception involved. I don't even try to stealth my attacks, I've found that I get less hate and complaints that way. They just add me to their enemy list and 6 months later they might not even remember why they did that and remove me.
This is true, but if you do it enough.. people will complain about you. Just think of Zachjuv. Everybody knows who he is because of the vicodin/xanax thing. Do it enough and people will remember.
What are they going to do about it though?
Alot of people don't like muggers because it was their hard work to get the cash not the muggers, but tbh if you need money you gotta do what you gotta do.

Well personally I no longer buy off Zach. Even if I pay $100 more for a Xanax. That's just an example.

Mugging is part of the game, I'm never going to be bothered by someone clicking a mug after an attack. It's a bit more shitty if it involves deception or a betrayal of trust, like a trade-mug, but even that is just the kind of game Torn is.
