Bump, please add this Ched, raids are a complete waste of code atm
Agreed
I realy dont get the kick all your members during a raid attiduded. have pride in it organise and fight back as even if you lose your members can hod there head high
I'm not sure I understand, if you force a faction to kick all of its members, haven't you won? That sounds like a victory to me? You can keep them pinned in that state for as long as you like. What's the issue?
This was always kept in mind throughout, factions can kick all of their members if they want to. Which basically makes their faction useless until the raid is eventually ended.
During raids, I strongly feel factions need to retain the freedom to move members around. Small factions being bullied on need the ability to bring in strong folks if they want. Faction members need to be able to leave the war by leaving the faction, if they wish.
So yeah..
- This was considered, and always determined not to be an issue: why is this a problem?
- If there is a problem, perhaps there's a fix that doesn't break loads of other things?

This is an old thread so I don't remember if it was brought up here specifically, but the issue is this:
If you are a well organised faction, you kick 98-99 members at the start of the raid. They stack up, all rejoin to dump hits, and leave again. Raids could be ended extremely quickly and effectively this way, against much stronger factions too.
The point being, it makes the idea of a "Raid" a very big joke.
See my post here: https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=4&t=16089815&b=0&a=0&to=19232526 for a solution that doesn't necessarily break everything else?

Mentions: Raid/Roster lockdown
its not just about members being locked,its about being able to destroy factions respect with raiding.How can we destroy anyone,inflict damage if they kick their members out and bring them back in when raid is over.it takes all the fun from raiding.I see no point in this addition then.
edit:factions can avoid being hit without having to kick their members out of faction.Selfhosp,selfjail,travel abroad and logoff for over 24 hours and you become a ghost XD

IMO, raid as it is right now is useless.
Main reasons:
- The respect you remove from each attack (although is 100% effective) doesn't worth the energy spent;
- It takes a lot of time to see any change during a raid, due the respect you remove is few;
- The agressor have no real benefits from it, so nobody do it...
Ways to fix it can be:
- Give some kind of reward to the agressor if he wins, or penality if lose;
Example of reward, can be give the agressor 10% of the respect removed of the assaulted faction;
Example of penality, remove 2% respect of the agressor if it fail a raid;
If the above points can't be done, why not:
- Increase the respect you remove by hit;
- Lower the energy by attack?;
Cheers,

I agree with rooster lockout, however, if that's not acceptable due to potential "bullying", what about locking joins only if there's a raid going on?
This way they can kick their members to avoid the respect drain but they wouldn't be able to fight in guerrilla mode while the raid is on.
I know this would also lock factions bringing other players to guest for them or even bring back their own players that are out guesting but that's a good thing in my eyes. Would potentially stop the silly guesting we see so much around, when it's the same ~150 ppl fighting in all wars over and over again.

As Ched pointed out, the feature is set as it is so that small factions can call in help if they are bullied by a larger faction. What you are suggesting is that the only factions who should be allowed to exist are those in the big family factions. In which case wouldn't factions just be permanently useless? I mean think about it, if everyone had to play by your rules and only by what you allowed then to have then the game would stagnate and die. I watched it happen to another game before. Don't do the same thing to Torn. Let it stay competitive.
You can be bullied with or without faction with or without a raid (dont attract too much attention on yourself).And frankly if you decide to join up or create a faction you are prepared to go to war and be bullied.I am being bullied for over 10 years now.But only new players cry in forums.
Frankly factions have become indestructible after respo so you should be happy.

Raiding is pointless and will remain pointless for some time. the cost to do any substantial damage to another faction is too significant to even consider wasting the resources to accomplish it. It is easily defendable as it is and nobody even considers raiding another faction. we are trying to make raiding relevant when it will never be relevant. What EVERYONE wants is competitive warring. Raiding will never be the answer no matter the tweaks we implement.
BRING BACK THE OLD WARBASE and Ranked wars!!!! even if it is not the main attacking engine there should always be an option for factions to set up a termed war on the old attacking system.
Faction leaders can set terms in a trade which leads to a specific type of attacking system between the 2 factions. start time of the war, stat requirements (if any) and weapon requirements (if any) should be set in the trade and both faction leaders accept the trade. ANY member of the two factions who meet the requirements of the termed war will be allowed to hit members of the opposing faction. However any member who does not meet the requirements should be barred by the system from attacking each other. players who join after the termed war has begun should also be barred from attacking the other faction.
Its not perfect but nothing in torn is perfect. let's actually work on what we want instead of trying to fix broken mechanics that would never get us anywhere.

It's a massive problem, we just tried to raid a faction with 100 members after they where bullying a small faction, he then kicks all members and heals randomly hits my weak members then self hosps, there is no fairness. Yeh he kicked everyone but no we haven't won, we stacked a lot of energy to make the raid productive and instead where left useless and bored. You really are taking the fun out of the game with this attitude. Raids should an option to punish a faction instead it's completely nulled just by kicking members. Your view on this is completely wrong
This is nonsense, big factions would not waste resources raiding for no reason, so a raid is a punishment, if you dont want to be raided then make friends not enemies, big factions are not going to go around raiding smaller faction for nothing
This is just a little quote from Ched's original announcement on Raiding
, Raiding is an important feature which brings back the potential for a faction to do significant damage to another via attacking
So how is any significant damage supposed to get done via attacking , if there is no one to attack because the faction being raided kicked all it's member's
As Ched said in his reply to Hellr4iser's original post. If you force another faction to kick all of it's member's have you won ?
Ok so they lost some respect from the attacks, they don't have any organized crimes going and they aren't chaining so the faction isn't earning any respect. . So the member's that left or are kicked go join another faction for a few days or a week or so, until the faction that started the raid decides to end it ,maybe they even lose a few member's ,
But I don't see how you could call that a win , since no real significant damage was done .. The only thing that happened was a little bit of respect was lost,and people are inconvenienced for a short period of time.

When you force a faction to kick members, you temporarily lock those kicked members from the faction-tree specials they typically enjoy.
You also cancel any OCs in progress.
It would be interesting to see a progressive "tax" on respect upon kicking members (or members leaving) if the faction is being raided.

See something needs to be done regarding factions as a whole and the more i read these suggestions shows people want a change. But i dont think this is it
Upto a certain extent you are right . But problem starts when leader kicks all members. To avoid respect loss. And when his member will have enough energy and cool down, they will join again to hit raiding faction. And after finishing hit they will leave again . So that makes it's hard to feel like a win win when they kick their members. And in that situation opposite faction has to kick their members even they don't want to and they are winning since they don't have an option.
So there must be some restrictions. Like when someone kick certain percentage of members that faction should not be allowed to accept any player in till raid is over. In that way someone can attack and takeover his territory. That will help him losing his territory because of smartness.

Happy to make changes if someone has good ideas. I'm just not up for adding arbitrary rules as permanent bandaids however.
Entire roster lock is too heavy handed I feel, and only blocking leaving feels arbitrary, as does doing anything for X amount of time.
For example, we could adjust the 'faction leaving / kicking' mechanic somehow - that would not be arbitrary. But changing the mechanic only during raids would be arbitrary.
I am warming to the idea of locking members into a faction somewhat, that's quite hardcore. Just need to do it in a way that doesn't feel... again arbitrary.
