I can likely add a quick-fix to simply avoid giving any event if the value sold was less than X% of the total for sale. That would be relatively easy to do. But users may become confused by new money appearing in their wallet unexplained.

But like other very recent Stock Market suggestions, I mentioned that the stock market is being entirely replaced with a whole different system where this won't actually be any problem anymore. I can't imagine it's worth devoting development time into implementing whole new preferences / settings for something that is going to be removed - I think players would rather this was focused elsewhere?

We'd have to get the design team to find a way of implementing a new panel / checkbox which works for all devices, a front-end dev to then add it, then implement a storage system for the selected preference, and then implement the check into stock sales to avoid sending an event. Maybe there is an easier method?

My preference probably depends on your honest assessment of how much longer Stocks 3.0 is likely to take.

I made a QOL suggestion 2 years ago now to which you replied the same thing. I understand the principle completely, but I'd rather this be implemented if its another 2+ years away.

If it turns out this full suggestion isn't worth dedicating time for, then yes perhaps only an event for >=5% (of the total amount first listed, meaning maximum of 20 events), and an infobar/announcement about the change. Along with the bank cheque icon, this shouldn't be all that confusing.

Cut all of that out by adding it to General Preferences in Settings, do it for all stocks or no stocks.

You're welcome.

Have it so you only receive an event when the player cashes the cheque and have it say how many shares were sold and the total value? And to avoid any confusion have it so an info bar just appears on the "My portfolio" page informing the player that stocks have sold and cheques are waiting to be claimed, this could even negate the need for an event altogether.

This is the post I meant: https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=4&t=15994862&b=0&a=0&start=120&to=18226266

"Considering we're discussing stock changes in the committee which will totally change everything, I don't see any need to look in to this. I expect it'd be a pretty tedious system to build and use anyway."

When do you think Stocks 3.0 is likely? Additionally do you not think this would be a good thing to implement for Stocks 3.0 anyway?

What's the ETA on Stocks 3.0? I feel like this band-aid should at least be applied considering it's probably a good time away before we see anything regarding stocks 3.0... since it's never even been mentioned in the patch notes.

The band-aid I mentioned would be very simple for me to add, rather than something i'd need to orchestrate designers / developers for which will distract them from their current tasks and eat up their time - which would be fine if this was a permanent update, but it wouldn't be. This is something users have dealt with for many years with few complaints, and only happens in niche situations - feels weird to be resolving it right before the end of its life.

I don't give ETAs on features, there's really no way to know what will come up in the meantime. Could be 2 months, it could be 10 months. We recently had a design breakthrough that I'm very happy with.

Now, sales of only 5% or more of the remaining shares left for sale will produce events. Hopefully it doesn't cause too many bug reports. Thanks.

This is why a checkbox would have been good :/ But you’ll know from the bank cheque that appears. And the change to any of your listings.

Sadly, another poor band aid fix on an already horrific system that is just painful and absolutely no fun.

If you start thinking about the fun factor in any of these issues or processes, you really wonder why Torn is even considered a 'game' anymore.

76 shares in SYS have been sold for $36,451. You can withdraw your check from the bank, or wait for it to be credited to your account in 24 hours.

Still getting lots of small events like this.

If you have several stocks for sale you can't determine which one is from which stock.
Also the bank checks aren't present in the API, as opposite to events.
Proxima [1879587] Wiki Editor
Must imagine it would be easy to fix both of those with slight change to the bank cheque and addition to the API?
MaGnO [51498]
Only if they say the origin of that check, like this money is from SYM/FHG/IOU sale. Even better would be to have some user stock section with the sale history.
