Basically, from what I've gathered (correct me if I'm wrong, you always do) Realist was selling WLT stock to Navin in a trade and Navin couldn't be assed to turn off revives... because of course Realistassasin (with his 854 enemies) should theoretically be 100% trustworthy, right?
Realist hired Penicillin (who is a committee member) to mug Navin when told to and Pen mugged Navin for:
Penicillin mugged Navin for $4,765,520,324 (+3.15)

Which now makes Pen #4 for highest mug, btw - we need an achievement thread on that - congrats!
Anyway, so because Navin failed to use his brain and realize that Realist was probably going to pull some sort of crap on him, he's now trying to get Ched & co to change the actual mechanics of trades to make them "safer".
Because we need Torn to be safer, right?
Why would we want any sort of negative consequences in a game like Torn? That would be just silly.
Sunshine and rainbows only from here on out.
I will say that the idea isn't terrible in itself - and if there weren't already avenues to protect oneself from canceled trades - it might actually be a bit better received than it is currently. But that's the thing, there are already ways to protect yourself if you know you're going into a trade with someone. You can self hosp and TURN OFF REVIVES.
The fact that Navin was too lazy to make sure this happened does not warrant game changes imo.
But you're free to weigh in for yourself by either voting on the suggestion thread or commenting below. :)

The other issue was whether or not it was a scam on Penicillin's end - which is important because committee members aren't allowed to scam - see This dumpster fire for reference.
People are trying to say that Pen was involved in scamming - even though he wasn't actually involved in the scammish portion of the transaction. It could be argued that, given the situation, he probably did have a pretty good idea of what was happening... but the idea is that he didn't use his committee status to break the trust of any players in game.
This is interesting depending on why you think committee members shouldn't scam. If they shouldn't scam because the PLAYERS need to trust them (like staff) then this checks out. If they shouldn't scam because BOGIE and CHED need to trust them with game secrets and it's more of a moral compass thing... well, not quite as much on that front.
Personally I don't think that committee members should be restricted from scamming, but I also think that scamming is somewhat positive for the game as a whole. So, I'm kind of strange like that.
There's already been a bunch of back and forth on the suggestion thread on this topic - so what better place to fan the fire than in GD?

I did notice that, unlike when Lordevo failed to check his trade and accidentally forked over 20b to my friend, the pitchforks aren't quite as ready as they were back then.
Where's the public outcry that Pen hasn't been kicked from NS for his crimes? Where are the cries of Stretch being a scammer for keeping him in the faction?
