My minds tossing over a few things and i figured i'd write some of it down.... watch out torn....

Take the brain as an isolated thing and lets assume all our thought and consciousness is done there...

We have sensory data coming in, that data is then deciphered as best the brain can. The brain then allows our conscious mind to recompile that data to form what we then perceive.

Lets take my feet and the floor as an example. There is information going into my brain saying that the nerves in my feet are under higher pressure than normal. this mixed with my orientation and other sense data lets me know this is likely because my feet are touching the floor.

That said, the thing i experience as my feet, the feeling of touch (and the floor they are touching) all come after the sensory data has entered the brain. Urm forgive me if i'm miles from the truth. but i think this is how we think we know it to be..... so here's the horrible question i warned torn about at the start.... i'll go slightly cryptic.

Couldn't a punchcard input account for the same level of complexity, (or binary etc etc) Providing all the data input for the brain to use in its compiling of the perceived reality... ?

I mean, the outcome of processes don't always reflect the process itself. Take a look at our computers, the binary data that is then converted for the monitor does not look like the images that show on the screen. Electricity and the many appliances it powers, do not tell you anything about how the power plant works that provides that power..

So this perceived reality is our outcome from the process of collecting sensory data with our minds and re-compiling it, Maybe it is like an image travelling down a fibre optic cable, looking the same as it did when it went in at the other end. Though to me, looking out into the world, i think i see a lot of evidence for transitions that lose the original semblance.

I'll try to get down my last thought, Its a little abstract,

Me, Mr B and Mrs C are all conscious beings receiving punchcard instructions. The punchcards we receive don't conflict with each other. but we all decode them very differently from one another.

My punchcard has information about me on it, Information about Mr b, Mrs C and our shared reality.

Mr B's and Mrs Cs are the same respectively.

I'm set to decode a human experience from the given information, So i apply the information from the punchcard onto my simulated human experience. Its about myself, Mr B, Mrs C and the reality itself. Its warm, there's gravity, we're friends and its 'normal'.

However!!!

Mr B Is an individual neuron in the brain of a weird alien being in a galaxy far far from here... His reality is very different, but there are two other neurons he has information about... their designations can be translated to 'Me' and 'Mrs C'..... there's the equivalent of a positive experience, a tug in a general direction, and for him its all 'normal'.

Mrs C is a conscious toothpick from the 98th sub-dimension..... (different universe, different rules) The tug she feels involves a need to baste cucumbers. 'Warmth' is their favorite sports team, Currently winning (its a two team sport) and its not 'normal', but its an abnormal space, so no conflict, still 'normal'

Point is, there are only 3 punchcards in the scenario, giving 3 different 'brains' non-conflicting sensory data. That data in my simulation means Me, Mrs C and Mr B are human and can have a conversation. To Mr B, he uses the equivalent of the word 'human' to describe himself, he 'says' stuff making him appear to me to be human. But that's all because i decoded that information, from that punch card in that way.

To him i seem like another alien neuron occasionally firing signals in his direction.... Mrs C.... well... yeah, i'll write a book on her sometime >_< .

Sorry if this is a bit of a brain strain for some, Its just ideas and I don't mean to make anyone uneasy. I do however feel that this sort of thought and discussion is likely going to be very useful to the next few generations. They will become conscious in a world where there is more than one 'place' that seems 'real'. Perception itself has not had a bigger hurdle since well.... probably sight.... or some other drastic advance >_<

Whether this reality is a simulation, created or whatever, Its still the same reality that the earth came into being in, The dinosaurs were there, friends and family have their birthdays around our sun..... and someone started the bible....

I think many can get lost in dark avenues of thought around this territory. I've become numbed to a lot of it through my anal perseverance... Oh god some of the anxiety i used to get... Buuut, one thing has remained true for me. I can change how i see the world in so many different ways, But, there is only one way to change the world itself, And that is by 'choosing to do'. (Or going through the set process we decipher and experience as the illusion of choice) either way, whether illusion or free will... Created, simulated, eternal or otherwise... lots of reality left to explore and so much imagination out their, primed to produce new realities for others to explore...

I don't think average Joe is gonna know what hit him/her over the coming years. Errr, for average Joe, Check out 'augmented reality contact lenses' >_< Safe starting place

I have been Realist, Ty!

Nice video. but there is a large difference between extra terrestrial/ extra dimensional creators and the biblical god worthy of worship. He's wrong to suggest its the same thing. Christians claim their god is all powerful and all knowing as an absolute. This simulation theory says it could be an individual with very low intelligence using tech made by smarter beings.
Flak [2091491]
yeah... sorry, the guy rates low by my vote... Quantum mechanics and the simulation theory say nothing about any required worship, divine plan or celestial beings. Not saying it discounts them... but it certainly can't be used to support those concepts as he claims they can.... nah... he's a dick... if he understands, he is purposefully twisting truths. more likely he has limited logical capacity.

Your conscience won't let you accept it because that means moral responsibility. There is such thing as absolute good, absolute evil.

No God, no problem. Right? :)
-sketch- [759554]
If there is no God and there is no Day of Judgement then evil ultimately wins the day. Turn on the news and all you see is corruption, murder, ****, pedophilia, racism, greed, etc. Acknowledge that if there is no God then life is ultimately meaningless. Life is absurd. You've got 60-80 years on this rock, then the fertilizer pit.

So go ahead, make your own meaning. Nothing is ultimately "good" or "evil". It just is. Whatever is... is.

You can be Adolf Hitler the Second or you can be Mother Teresa the Second. Ultimately it does not matter. Both are just rotting in the fertilizer pit. So if you want to abuse people, that's your choice. If you want to feed starving people dinner, that's your choice too.

In other words, if there is no God, then why not commit suicide? Life is just a fantasy. Nothing is real. Nothing is true, in the absolute sense. Have the courage, atheists, to face that reality. Don't go crying when someone wrongs you or does you dirty because, hey, that's just their choice. Who are you to tell them what's ultimately right or wrong, good or evil?
Flak [2091491]
it may be hard for you to believe. But i try to live a moral life even though i'm agnostic and i have little to no fear of judgement from your puny god. Maybe god exists, Maybe he doesn't. But i'm not worshiping anything without good reason.

I also believe there is potentially other reasons to not commit suicide other than deciding there is an all-powerful... better than the avengers super being that has my best interests at heart.

Like, do you have any care for the happiness of other conscious beings? Or is the treatment of your soul after death all that matters >_<
-sketch- [759554]
Never said you were an immoral person just because you don't believe in God. All my atheist friends are upstanding moral people. But can you honestly say you've never lied, stolen, or done wrong ever in your life? I know I can't. As I'm pretty sure no one can.

We all have this little voice in the back of our mind that alerts us when we know we've done wrong. It's called a conscience. Make no mistake it's God given, however, it can be manipulated and influenced by our culture, media, etc.

The reason people don't believe in God and Christ is the same reason a thief doesn't find the police. He is running away.
Flak [2091491]
Propose there is a god. How would you know its not talking through me currently? Would god know how he created himself? could he do it again?..... does god have the power to make himself less of a god? Does god want to be worshiped? need to be worshiped?... if he doesn't care... why do you do it... if he wants it... he's selfish... and if he needs it... he's a parasite... i mean. there is no good way to look at this >_<
Flak [2091491]
i have a flawless plan. I'll periodically repent for my sins to the god that i highly doubt exists. And i'll genuinely mean it. I'll die an agnostic and get into heaven forgiven of all my sins, because i repented and Jesus died on a cross. Now that i'll get into heaven are you happy enough my immortal soul is headed in a good direction now?
Flak [2091491]
I think there could well be a heaven, an afterlife. maybe a hell. Who knows. but i'll bet my money on something over nothing. All of that, for me, is far more plausible than the modern biblical representation of god.

Now talk to me about a being (likely technological but very much conscious) in the distant future... that somehow caused a causality loop... and has the ability to project/simulate reality over time and multiple dimensions... or some such nonsense... and i'll say ya might be onto something... could even seem a lot like god. >_< Also there are countless possibilities of very powerful beings seeming to be like gods to us. What if an alien convinced me it was him... or even another human <_> would be dreadful... I might be god btw... its a possibility >_<
Flak [2091491]
Sorry... last bit of my rant... a funny thought... Imagine if god was real and all he did was run round controlling people without them knowing it... using them to try and convince believers that he might not exist... I'd make an awesome god...
-sketch- [759554]
It's ultimately up to you chief. God is not gonna force you into heaven against your will. He didn't create you as an automaton. You have free will. Therefore, hell will be Gods great compliment to the human race. If you want to live your life separate from Him and His commandments then He will grant you your request and you'll live separate from Him.

If you affirm your life and all the good gifts He's given you, then you will seek to know who this God says He is and what He requires of you.

He loves you and He wants the best for you. If you earnestly seek Him, you will find Him.

Repentance means: "To turn from, forbid". Don't play the hypocrite like so many "Christians" do. Be earnest, have some courage to follow and do what He commands of you. It's the greatest challenge a human can undertake.

Finally, find out about who this Jesus is. What did He say, how'd He live, what did He do? If you find that this Jesus fellow seems trustworthy, more so than anyone else who's walked the face of the earth, then it would be the wisest choice you could ever make to trust and worship (consider ultimately worthy is what "worship" means) Him.

Read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to find out about this Jesus fellow. Those are the eyewitness testimonies. Just as you'd read any historical textbook to find out about any historical figure. You'll find it reads like the New York Times. "At this time, in this place, with these people around, Jesus said this and He did that." Just look at the first few verses of The Gospel of Luke. Luke was a gentile doctor and a meticulous historian. This stuff ain't fantasy like the Marvel or Harry Potter franchises.

I wish you all the best I really do. I see a lot of my former self in you. These long rants about the bigger questions in life: Where are we ultimately from? Why are we here? While I am here, how should I behave ethically? Is there life after death? etc. I, as well as you, seemed to be blown about by every direction of the wind. Never knowing for sure. It's a travesty friend. My oh my, what peace of mind knowing the truth of God and Christ brings.

God Bless you. I'm praying for ya and I love you because if I'm gonna believe what I believe, then I have no choice.
Flak [2091491]
See, problem is, I believe in God. I'm in communication with the big dude. We have some good chats. One of the things we talk about, is this impostor dude thats going round calling himself god... its mostly laughed off by the group... but the sad thing is... he's gaining followers... and he doesn't even talk to them.

You're not on about him right? We do believe in the same god?
Flak [2091491]
Genuinely not taking the piss, i absolutely 100% believe in god. Definitely a real thing, i also believe that my god, which i fully believe in... may or may not exist. He even may or may not consider whether or not he may or may not exist. (he/she*)

He may or may not also reside in a turnip... i'm still being 100% serious. Would you agree that god could potentially inhabit a turnip?
-sketch- [759554]
Well, if you ask most people nowadays inevitably they will tell you that "God is Love".

Well, how the hell did they find that out? Considering that every night when we turn on the news we see the world crumbling before our eyes. Wallowing in evil. Murder, rpe, pedophilia, racism, greed, etc. How the hell can they say: "God is love."

That is why I'm so thankful for Jesus Christ. Jesus claimed to be God in human form. Opening himself up to establish a relationship in a language and form we finite humans can understand. Telling us what He's here for, what He likes/dislikes, and what is to unfold in the future. (Youtube: "The Coming Summer: Exploring the signs of Jesus' Return"). Unreal accuracy (prophecy) spoken by thus Jesus fellow.

Why that is so convincing to me is because the only way I'm going to know you is if you open up and tell me the truth about yourself. Establishing a relationship. If you lie to me and mistreat me, I'm not going to trust you. However if you show me evidence of reliability then we can begin to establish a relationship. Its the same thing with Jesus.

So, no. We probably aren't talking about the same God. I'm talking about the God of the Bible. I may be wrong but I think you are talking about the"god" that your imaginations or interpretations are perceiving to be. Which is all too common nowadays. You see, us humans like a god that fits our likes/dislikes. A god that's okay with us doing things we like to do, whether it's bad or good.
Flak [2091491]
I may be wrong but I think you are talking about the"god" that your imaginations or interpretations are perceiving to be

What if my god is real and yours is that?

Also back to the turnip thing. Can your god potentially inhabit a turnip? genuine question
Flak [2091491]
i don't think its friendly to blatantly ignore such simple and blunt questions. Are you trying to help me understand. Or do you just want me to fail?
Flak [2091491]
I did the courtesy of watching your video. I would appreciate an answer on the turnip question before i move on to say how i might be the second coming you believe will happen.
