I do not think a leader should ever demand a player do anything. ask, sure. that's an agreement a leader and a player can come to but that's between them and no one elses business. as a leader you have to know going in that dealing with a bunch of varying personalities comes with the job. finding a way to balance those personalities is probably the single most defining thing about a good leader.
I also think weaponized threads against other players in itself is kind of lame. Dude, ED, Madame butterfly, Kata, or even now Brutal Thug have all been targets of such things. of course there are other players as well, not trying to leave anyone out, but these are probably the most notable names this has happened to.
its going to happen though. as a leader you have to be ready to deal with it. in my case I came to the defense of my member but every situation is different so im not advocating a standard practice. sometimes your member is the asshole.
if people are going to attempt to end the weaponization of threads against players though, I would expect that to be universally applied. the only reason im even chiming in. I don't know Thug and have no contact with JFK so its not like im here defending a friend. just saying if this is how people see these things I expect them to say the same when its done to someone else.
we also should be mindful of how we participate in such threads. while we don't always intend to be in support of something, simply participating sometimes is all it takes to promote that kind of thing.
