So today I was looking at the number of Stat Enhancers that BodyBagger has used (Roughly 4800) and decided to see - if he waited until he had 1B in each stat, and then split those stat enhancers between only two stats (2400 each), how many stats would he have?
The answer is... 25.7 Quintillion - that's 25.7 Million Trillion. In TWO different stats. That's just silly. That means that even with 20 people in a fight, you would need almost 2 Trillion strength just to do damage to him.
This is POSSIBLE for someone to have obtained. There are players with near 1T networth who could do that today if they wanted to. This seems... wrong.
This game will continue for likely decades more - it's been around for 15 years already - people will continue to get wealth, so if we want to avoid stupidly meaningless high stats, we'll have to either make SEs VERY expensive (not fair to younger players), or cap their gains at some point.
So my proposal is this - cap the maximum possible gain that a SE can give at 5 Trillion per SE - in other words, SEs will give 1% per use, up until you hit 500 Trillion in a given stat, then after that - only 5T per use.
This would allow people to still catch up with BodyBagger, will not affect 99.9999% of players, and would act to prevent people from getting stats in the Quintillions.
I know it seems silly to think about this - but anything that compounds unchecked in this game is going to be majorly broken eventually.
To be clear - players could do this within two years with their existing resources. Also - it would take someone hundreds of years of training to get to 1T stats without SEs, yet alone to quintillion’s, which would literally require millions of years of training.
As a real life example, Hell_Fire has 1.3T networth. Let's say he bought 1 Trillion worth of Boxing Gloves, leaving him with 300B still - that's 2,222 gloves. He has about 2.3B defense currently. His defense after using them all (which would take him 556 days, granted, but he could do) would be...
9.3 Million Trillion (9.3 * 10^18), or 9.3 Quintillion. This is doable within the next two years.
I gave this an upvote. Personally I don't think the solution is nearly radical enough. At the risk of no one catching up to BB, the cap should be significantly lower.
Even if it lets some players have literally a billion billion stats? Like, right now top players have 20Bish, we’re talking about players being able to get to a billion times higher than that...
If you use that logic why is there a stat cap? Or you only want rich players to have unlimited gains?
Edit: You also realize that my suggestion requires that you have 100 Trillion in a single stat before it affects you?
I downvoted as I do not think there should be a cap.
All you do by whoring your stats is make the game boring for yourself in the long run. What keeps people playing is the social aspect and the challenge generally, there is only very few cases where people that don't have that challenge anymore keep playing.
For all i care people have multiple googols in each stat... Doubt they'd enjoy the game lol
This seems like an odd suggestion. I do think SEs are sorta weird and it probably could have been done differently from the beginning.
I guess my main question is simply, why? Because we like big numbers but now not too big of numbers?
There are only like 10 people this could possibly ever effect and only 2 its likely to.
The first thing I think when I see this suggestion is that for the first time in at least the 4 years ive played torn it looks like someone could pass a person who was grandfathered into an astronomical lead by changes to the game and you now want to make that significantly harder.
I feel like the worst case of this hypothetical(but sort of almost could be real) scenario that you are trying to avoid is that 10 people's stats use scientific notation.
Why is there a 50 stat cap? He obviously didn’t want stats to completely run away.
I agree with you it’s a minor issue now. But in 10 or 15 or 20 years it will not be, there will be many people with quadrillions of stats unless something changes.
The stupid part of the 50m stat cap mechanic is the ramp up part, not that it stops. Players should train at the cap value from day 1. Isn't that ramp up just to interfere with multies?
If we were having this discussion before the addition of stat enhancers id probably agree that there should be a cap but these kinds of changes that cut off paths people used to get where they are is exactly how we ended up with all these people grandfathered into their power level.
Income streams have been getting nerfed and I bet that will continue so I really don't see this as any kind of growing threat.
If the dozen or so people who could actually pull this off were attempting it, maybe it needs attention. Clearly because these people aren't doing it, there's no real motivation to do it. This is like putting up suicide nets around the top of the Washington monument. Of course a person could die if they jumped off, but nobody is trying to do it so what's the point?
I would say the multi attacker stat reducing change that has been implemented is balance enough. After a certain amount of SE its about useless, becomming more invincible doesn't do much to benifit you.
Limiting at 1T may create a curve at slowing progression of top tier but at a level so high it may as well be an update for 100ppl in the next 10 years.
There are multiple people right now that could get to the point within a couple years of needing dozens of people in an attack before they would be capable of receiving damage from anyone.
The 1T was selected as a limit because otherwise people would whine that they don’t have a chance to catch up to the top 10.
