Indeed.

Everyday you see posts from employees with very strong opinions on companies and how they need to be re-balanced. But if companies are so unbalanced and great, how come they prefer to not run one themselves? It's a bit funny, and also a bit sad.

I am a director in real life as well and I see the same psychological behaviour all the time, both in game and in real life. People are blinded by the misconception that company directors are making huge profits with little to no effort. They ignore every negative aspect of running a company.

There are certainly still some problems with the TC company module. But honestly, has any other module been getting so much negative attention in recent years? The stock market is the real money printer in this game (now that casino loopholes have been looked into). Investing in stocks will easily outperform even the most expensive and oldest income-based companies in the game. And you almost never have to worry about ROI.

Active players desire a broad spectrum of player-owned companies in the game. They want their specials, and ridiculous salaries too. But who should be running all of these companies and take all the risk, if they are not supposed to be profitable? I know from talking with directors on a daily basis than many directors actually make less per day than their employees. More than you might think actually lose money, just to keep the company going.

Now, I'm not saying that companies are not profitable. They can be. With the right setup and experience and a lack of heart (in terms of management) you can make much more as a director than you ever would as an employee. The same can be said about the top percentage of stock investors, traders, buy-muggers, scammers, faction owners, poker players... and so on.

Sometimes I just feel that ordinary, casual players needs to let go of their envy and start thinking about how to copy the succesful strategies of others instead. TC is a game where you can excel right from the start, in many different categories. I see year-old accounts that are vastly more successful than I am after nearly 6 years of playing this game. And I think that is something positive.

I realise that the system probably needs a more in-depth overhaul for this to work. But I also think it could be done without having to sacrifice all of the "mystery" that comes with having unknown factors that directors are supposed to try and figure out for themselves.

Just hearing that you would consider improving the UX for directors is great news right now.

If this suggestions turns out to be too complicated to implement within a forseeable future, then maybe something else could be done in another way that what was suggested in the OP?

You're forgetting companies bring a lot to the game and most are not supposed to be money printers. For example farms and ANs.

The big companies run at a loss because the directors either pay too much or don't get advertising, this is an issue they can only resolve myself, some messaged me in the past and I helped them but now I don't offer service to other companies.

Companies are the biggest money printer in game 100% and because of this Ched needs to regulate them to control the economy, he cant just buff them because directors cant control their costs.

I'm just going to leave this here, Torn has 40k active players daily and only a small amount use the forums there are plenty of staff and if you want to be a good director you need to know when to say "no you're being too greedy" or "no you would be a detriment to my company". Yes company flippers will still hire some of these guys but eventually the recruitment market will return to normal with a highest worthwhile salary of 3.8m daily for 150% of the highest position (there aren't many of these around) I might do a spread sheet for recommended salaries for positions for every company if I get time.

The amount of stupid directors ruining the payscale for the good directors is overwhelming. It's almost impossible these days to maintain a feasible payroll with zoomer level employees.

Had a dude message me with barely 60k total work stats asking for 2m in a Mine. Where did that person even get the impression hes worth over 500k or has the stats for a mine? This is the average player, this is what good directors deal with.

I would also like to see the new "Current activity streak" and "Best activity streak" stats added to the API.

Getting more information regarding players activity other than how much time they spent idle (Activity score) is great.

If we can also find a way to process that data into something more accessible, be that via legit API scripts or via new features implemented for directors, that would be even better.

Would've been fun to had this recently when a guy was active every day, not addicted, but had 0* efficiency. (with the right stats)

Nice idea, the system has been rebuilt and is now recording individual modifiers. I've worked with our design team to come up with something.

It will allow directors to see exactly that their employee's effectiveness is and what is positively or negative affecting it. The 'employee value' unlocked with secretaries and bookkeepers will also be moved into this same system.

Here's a mock example. Hopefully it'll be in for Tuesday. Thanks.

This might be the most excited I've been for a TORN update that is actually going to come out in YEARS!

This looks sick. We can finally see why a certain employee is not performing well. Thank you!!

"Wrong gender" might need different terminology. I'm not sure what it is referring to in this case so I can't think of other suggestions. Diversity?

Thank you for pushing this!
I’ll admit that you had me worried at first with the cryptic announcement text. But this post got me psyched for tuesday. Looking very promising!

That could let you know what needs improving.

I'd rather prefer that you could see any employee's effectiveness as an employee yourself.
