    Update: since this post, I’ve moved to iOS 16 beta 3 and the issue still has not reappeared for me. Seems Apple may indeed have resolved the issue that caused this.

I’ve actually had this issue for a few months now and never thought to report it, but it just happened 5-6 times in a row so thought I’d give it a shot.


I use an iPhone 11 Pro Max, Chrome version 85.0.4183.109

Essentially, the browser crashes when I load a forum post and either a) begin to scroll down, or b) begin to zoom in

Although I can’t confirm this, I think it seems to crash more when there’s a lot of media on the page?


The latest example of a thread that I’ve tried to open which has crashed within seconds is

While a temporary solution to this is that I totally quit chrome and reopen, it always seems to resurface as an issue.


Happy to provide more information as this happens.

I am able to replicate the above using IOS on Chrome by using the forum link you have posted.

Will pass to Nikita for testing or to pass on to another dev to look into.

there is something related to the signature of users on this page, which crashing the browser. I am checking what exactly crashing it.

Yeah, happens to me essentially every day. I keep from zooming into pictures on mobile devices because of of this issue, because the browser shits itself when I do. At times it still crashes regardless whether or not I zoom into the page. On the PC it's fine.

It doesn’t crash when I casually scroll up and down the page so something is working!


However, when I go and scroll a lot (varying speeds), up and down, for 10-15 seconds it causes a crash again.

So it seems to happen when someone has added massive images in size out there. So the phone CPU/GPU can't process it on the fly and, as a result, being to crash at some point.
