Not exactly. If you are high ELO you have to attack other high ELO players in order to gain anything. If you are 1800 and attack 1000 ELO, you wont gain anything.

Or maybe it'll impact awareness. Or maybe it'll impact respect gains. Or maybe it'll impact employee effectiveness. Or maybe it'll increase your NPC loot chances. Or maybe it'll have a merit associated with it one day. Or maybe it'll do absolutely nothing.

The fact that 2,000-day-inactive accounts have Elo, and that you can derive Elo from sluts makes me scratch my head.

ELO was the distraction
I am surprised no one noticed that Ched assigned to himself to focus on Crimes 2.0
"Joe: Project management / Weapon bonus testing / Crimes 2.0"

I think its something like a dogtag except there are no tags but a rating that determines where you stand. Kinda similar to MMR for Dota and League of Legend.

Winning against players with higher elo will help increase your elo rating alot, losing to lower elo will drop rating by alot probably after months will a ranking be formed. Terms like boosted, Smurfs and elo hell may be used in this scenario which may make it interesting.

Having ELO stat, when its stabilized after some period of time, will be pretty clear way to see relative strength vs other players and knowing our chances to win. I am not sure i like such idea, there is some fun in mystery and trying to guess other ones' strength.

tbh honest it only tells you if that player picks up fair fights. If you only farm inactive targets and are not warring you won`t get a high elo. So surprises will still happen ;)

You may pick up inactive targets in start and earn some higher elo ratings now when we all start with 1000. But in some time after being chained upon, those inactives will get realistic elo ratings too. Weak ones will drop too much that you don't get any increase anymore when you defeat them.

It should be easy for players to see people trying to manipulate their ELO, because they will have a sawtooth pattern on their ELO graph as they have random-seeming jumps upward followed by a slow decline (until the next jump).

Having said that, the elimination selector tool probably won't be able to see that easily.

A silver lining is that ELO can only be farmed once per player without it being rebuilt through active play, so inactive farming will help anyone with an ELO under 1000, but I expect most will seek an ELO in excess of 1000 very shortly, making ELO slutting rather difficult, but this is Torn, so someone will figure out how to do it.

It makes me wonder if respect or Leveling XP will ever be based on ELO. If so, the current levelling lists will probably become obsolete.

In some time this might make popular practice of buying losses from high ELO players in chase for some ELO rating merits.
