Why play Torn?

its the gambler's fallacy for me. I've put too much in to quit. Ironically, falling into the trap of gaining stats to become "stronk" has greatly diminished the fun and entertainment I had as a trigger-happy noob. I was a loose cannon, ready to pop off on any elite who looked down on me. Now I feel like a limp ****. Ive pulled so many 180s I dont know who TTT is anymore. I guess the moral of the story is do what you enjoy. At least the game is better than final earth.

Not with all y'all, just the dbags that tried to steal & you, the internet star that thinks Talkin shit about spouses is a good career move.

ah yeah, that's why you threw a hissy fit to the rest of SP when I took you out of our private discord (don't deny it; your superiors repeatedly raised that with me as if I'd killed your mother or something) for being a weird perverted creep towards one of our members who you "never think about" and then bountied anonymously for months, followed by paying larry to do it when we caught you red-handed and have been sporting an impotent hateboner for us all ever since. I think about how much money you've burned on us and every attempt to inconvenience me or the others just brings a smile to our faces- it's nice to know you still care :)


but ofc you don't think about us ever, do you? rent free living; I'd stick around a while longer if your head wasn't such a total omnishambles.

Habit and the long long term grind , and the internal community, it’s like a censored version of 4 Chan at times

Apart from enjoying this game and gaming in general, this game keeps me grounded and provides reminders of the worst and the best of peoples behaviours. Below are some of the helpful life lessons/reminders TC can give you.

The constant reminders that there are always folks out there that can destroy you in a fight. The stab of annoyance when weaker players gang up and beat you in a fight. The mendacity and malignancy of a few. The petty arguments or situations that spark violence and/or long running feuds. The interaction with players who judge people on their own morals (evil thinks as evil does). The way people vicariously live a life in this game. Not forgetting greed, stupidity and sometimes utterly banal behaviour.

The above reminders are of people in the minority though. Most people behave in a way that shows their personalities. Being generous, honest, humorous, patient and even forgiving at times.

Effectively this game is a great reflection of most societies. What happens on here is good practice for RL.

I joined Torn almost 7 months ago now. The variation in terms of the stuff that you can do (in comparison to other text based games) it's pretty good. It's also not exactly P2W. I mean, to an extent it can be - but you can't exactly "buy" your way to battle/work stats as it does take significant time.
I suppose people can literally pay to ruin your game, so there is that - but if you don't mess with anyone who is significantly stronger/richer than you - then I've found you should be ok.

Personally I play torn to help my irl bad gambling habbit, now I play for fun and mainly for the new friends I have made on here.
