The leaders in China are a danger to their own people. We had lockdowns in the west but saw you cant print money forever.

In the UK we will be paying the covid bill in higher taxes and less public services for 100 years probably. China are still locking down .... utter madness.

as the article itself states, the caving in this instance is immediate; they're reducing the lockdowns.

feel free to spin this as if it's about the cpc, but the reality is these folks are just asking for less strict policies for covid. and they'll get them.

i again ask folks here to pause on their demands for china to embrace covid like the west has. cases may be on the rise there, but they've yet to compare in severity to even canada, nevermind america or europe.

the reality is obvious at this point. china went with safety and pulled all the stops to protect their people, and haven't crumbled economically as was predicted by every masturbatory sweaty western columnist. the west went with profit, yet now suffer deep recessions and a dying workforce, and has completely given up on and abandoned its poor and vulnerable.

there's nothing wrong with this protest. the people are right to be angry. their demands will be heard. those with power who f**ked up will be punished. justice will be had.

The west went too far on the lockdowns and China said hold my beer and turned their country into a f**king dystopia.

They will respond to these protests like usual- brute force, intimidation, and censorship. Imagine defending the country that kicked out the media and slaughtered who knows how many people in tiananmen square as responsive to protestor demands.

china are super rich and have the entire worlds industry now... .they wont really be paying for anything bad they do as they have a solid enough economy and large enough nation to float and carry on while locking down parts like this and still be in profit.

There are protests in Beijing and Shanghai also now. And they are even turning political, which protesters in China usually deliberately avoid. But this doesn't mean there is any threat to the CCP, though I imagine Xi has a really ugly look on his face right about now.

which part of what i said is wrong? i know there's a lot of issues over how the lockdowns have been handled in some regions, i didn't claim otherwise - that's largely why folks are upset afterall

the way i see it, either a few die by inept action, or millions die by negligent inaction. 1-2k people are dying in america each week. half a 9/11, every week, almost three years in.
