If you are past the point of happy jumping (guide here), have a little bit less money than you would need for constant FHC training, but still want to make sure you can maximize your gains then you should follow PJ’s workout plan. It isn’t difficult, but you will need to log in about 6 times per day. If you set alarms, it should be a breeze.

First off, some things that will make following this guide way more successful:

Finish the sports science course! It may not seem like it’ll make or break your training, but that 2% extra gym gain perk is important. Since gains are exponential until the stat cap, the 2% gains will be compounded and actually amount to a lot more than you would think. If you’re interested in how this works, I have included a graph courtesy of Andyman below and there are plenty of guides about compound interest online that will clear things up for you!

As with the sports science course, it’s important to live in a house with a swimming pool (detached house +) for the extra 2% gains. If you’re renting a Private Island for an Air strip, make sure it also has a pool.

Some people say that Happy doesn’t matter after you’re past the point of happy jumping, but they’re wrong. Happy always plays a role in your stat gains while training, or else no one would bother rehabbing right after ODing. Live in the best property you can afford with the highest Happy. 5025 is a fully loaded PI with full staff, and it’ll really make a difference. Any Happy assumptions are made with a 5025 Happy bar in mind.

Always consult the wiki to make sure you’re in the gym that benefits the stat you’re working on the most. Those little numbers may not seem important, but every bit makes a difference. I recommend training your stats in small blocks, be it 2m, 5m, 10m, per stat, and trying to keep them as balanced as possible (at least until you unlock cha-chas and subsequently specialist gyms).

Now onto the method:

1. First train of the morning:
  • Take enough candy to get to ~5600 happy. This is generally around 7 or 8 hours booster cool down, depending on the candy type.*
  • Train natural E
  • Refill with points and train
  • Xanax and train (I do it this way so that if I overdose I don’t lose out on gains)
2. Set a timer for 2-4 hours. I like to do my “in between xanax trains” 4 hours before my Xanax CD runs out.

[background color=var(--bbc-body-bg-color)]3. When your timer goes off, train natural E[/background]

4. Set time for 4 hours (or however long under your CD runs out)

5. Take Xanax and train

6. Repeat steps 2-5

7. Before bed, train any natural E you have remaining. If I have 5 leftover I’ll generally use it in the dump or pray in the church.

Optional 8. If you’re insane and you want to go the extra mile, some people manage to get a 4th xanax in by setting an alarm at night. If you go this route, your “morning Xanax” won’t always line up with when you wake up so keep in mind when you’re planning out your first train of the day.

This method ensures that you’re rarely (if ever) training with less than 5k Happy.

*If you’re going to use the occasional FHCs, which I would whenever possible, skip this step and take the FHCs after training off your natural E.

Notes:

1. Cha-chas is generally the point where users decide to focus on “whoring” certain stats as this is when you will unlock specialist gyms. These gyms allow you to focus on one or two stats, depending on which one is unlocked, but have requirements for joining which you can find here

2. I recommend doing your crimes before taking Xanax, just in case you overdose. Not only will your nerve bar be wiped, but Happy also has a (marginal) effect on your crime success.

3. Compound interest basically means you’re making interest on your interest (or in this case, extra gains on extra gains). This graph is a very simplistic example which doesn’t take into account anything like switching gyms or training different stats. It’s purely to give an example of how much better off you are getting that extra 4%!

4. The timings in the method assume you have a 150 natural e bar, because you really really should if you want to be competitive.

Happy Training!

Great job Julie. An earlier version of this guide really did help me a lot, and I'm glad it's got wider circulation now. In fact, it was the only thing I'd read that made me pay more attention to my happy levels when just training generally. Most field mice are simply bombarded with info about happy jumps, whereas this guide made me more aware about keeping it topped up if I was taking cans and such - so I monitored my happy levels a lot more closely until I capped my stats.

And this gets people set up really well in their Torn "3-xan-a-day" routine also. I love that it reinforces the notion that you should pretty much always train and do crimes before taking a xan, as I see so much wasted e and nerve from established players who don't follow that simple sequence.

Great regime
I also fill blood bags before I take Xanax.
This way you work towards your medical items used merit and also don't waste your life if you OD.

I think it would be really helpful if you elaborated on note 1. I get a lot of questions about how to train between ChaChas and George’s, keeping the ratio and gym dots in mind.
Do you go glass cannon and only train the stats in Frontline?
Do you go the stalwart defender and train only those in Balboas?
Do you keep your Hanks ratio for the duration?
What are the repercussions of each?

Sorry, I thought I answered this ages ago!

In my opinion, obsessing about ratios isn't as important early on, I trained all four of my stats but focused on keeping FF open because I concentrated on my offensive stats. I used a script (specifically this one for TamperMonkey https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/14778-special-gym-ratios ) to make sure I didn't lose it. Ratios are good for keeping gyms open, but not always as good for battle. I don't suggest solely whoring one or two stats as they tend to make you a less effective chainer when it comes to finding others that give you a decent FF bonus.

I'm not really an advocate of keeping a certain ratio, I train what I deem necessary and based on steadfast. If I'm getting hit too hard, I train defence. If I'm getting hit too often, I train dex, etc. Simple, but it works for me.

I was more recommending that you add some of this info into your guide more than I was asking for my own benefit. Not much info about which stats to train during this phase of training. I know a lot of that is personal preference but there are some general methodologies that could be at least briefly described, such as whoring, balanced, semi-balanced, etc.

just my 5 cents, I know anything guide related takes time so no worries if you completely disregard

It may not seem like it’ll make or break your training, but that 2% extra gym gain perk is important. Since gains are exponential until the stat cap,

Literally unusable.
