NPO - Strength Reaches Diamond

After three years in Torn, NPO - Strength has reached Diamond rank following an almost 3 day war against The Next Level.

Earlier this month we beat Swiss Covert Corps in a 3 day and 19 hour war, having to duck and weave and dodge around shaz1. We’ve been doing wars across our factions for a year and a half but winning that war put us at Platinum 3 - our highest rank at the time. We thought about what to do and decided it was time to take a shot at Diamond.

After a couple of weeks of time to organize, we brought in some other NPOers from our other factions (Prosperity and Endurance) as well as a few guests from our friends; I want to shout out 39th, RIOT, Born for War and InQuest for coming over with some friends. With the guests in our roster, we had a median total battle stats of 977m - certainly something I considered understated for a Diamond war especially without having anyone above 10.5b and only two others above 5b. We knew we would be outstatted regardless of who we matched with.

The enlistment time was set for May 30th, we stocked up on Xanax, grenades, and so, so many needles. PT was booked for our offliners, HeLa was there for our revives and we were ready to go. Noon rolled around and we had a match - The Next Level. Looking at the stats we were cautiously optimistic; sure, they had a median total battle stats 3x that of ours, and several people above 10b, but we’re used to being outstatted and having to rely on coordination and group attacks. Organization was done, a plan was set, and the war started on Saturday.

And then Torn shit the bed. For a faction planning to use coordinated group attacks, lots of needles, and general activity to help make up for the stat disadvantage, having Torn lag to the point we could barely keep a single needle active through attacks was painful. Only twenty minutes in and we had to call for a turtle and pull back. TNL got a lead and we were in their peak time; whatever strategies we had would not be enough to overcome 30 people online and actively smacking down any group attacks. So we waited, we played patient, and 5 hours in we took the lead. Once we took that lead we would hold it for the remainder of the war - sometimes narrowly so, other times comfortably so - but both getting and staying there was an adventure.

After almost three full days, here we are. Pushes back and forth, little tactics here and there to eke out varying amounts of score. Commando raids out for 30 score before re-turtling. Celebrating in voice chat when we would net 40 war score on a 10 man push out while dodging most of the retals. Dodging bonuses with the help of PT when we could. Of course it wasn’t just the NPO members in Strength: the group attacks were full of the NPO Prosperity and Endurance smoke army, popping in again and again to throw smokes and tears, helping cut the stats down to something we could reasonably take on. Every single member did their part: we were bouncing in and out of hospital intentionally, dodging retals, planning our strategies around theirs, and preparing for our next big moves.

In the end - we made it here. To Diamond. We landed chain bonuses, we made pushes, we did what we needed to do to get here.
