I'm currently posting this with TornTools enabled.

Using Google Chrome browser - Version 119.0.6045.160 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Having only torn open in a fresh browser, no other apps running,

I am getting 40-80 % load + very high CPU and GPU usage from sitting idle on torn main page.

This started happening since yesterday.

Yes, I tried switching off both TornTools and Tampermonkey as well, the cpu usage remains high.

As soon as close the Torn main page tab the high usage drops instantly.

Also in doing some testing, when going into the torn forums it drops as well.

Something on the main torn page seems to be using up a lot of CPU power, not sure what.

I'm having the same issue. I'm using Edge though.

A faction mate using Chrome recently mentioned this in discord as well.

Never had the issue until very recently, a few days or so, week at most.

Just keep getting high CPU warnings, even when running only 1 tab. No other tabs open on other sites.

Disable all extensions, problem persists.

I've tried rebooting and clearing cache etc. Close my browser for a bit and reopen it, works fine for a while.

Yesterday, I had 1 tab open. I was on the crimes page, left my pc for a bit, about 20 mins or so. When I came back, I was getting the warnings.

Do not experience this ever when doing other non-Torn things, visiting non-Torn sites, even when I have a large number of tabs open and running multiple programs.

Yeah this was recent for me, as recent as yesterday, when I noticed my laptop fan spin up and stay high randomly.

My temps aren't getting absurd, but there is definitely load on my CPU and GPU that wasn't there before.

The high CPU usage is on most pages on Torn, for some reason it drops when i browse the forum, especially

in the Bugs & Issues part im posting here :D ironic to say the least

Can you perhaps locate the cause of the CPU usage? Which page gives you the issue vs which one doesn't should help you narrow which content is causing the high CPU usage. Is the issue still reproduced in Incognito window with ALL of your extensions and scripts turned off?

That is correct, the issue still persists in inognito mode and all extensions turned off.

The load is present in all pages of torn and only subsides when I go to reply in the bugs forum section.

Basically as soon as i open a fresh browser. Open torn, go to home page load goes up instantly.

I browse my usual areas of interest, be it gym, crimes, inventory etc. Still persistent load.

Once i click forums and go to the bugs section to post an update on it it slowly ramps down and remains down like this:

Edit : And oddly enough as soon as I posted the fan span up again and lo and hebold the load was up again:

It seems specific interaction with torn is causing it, after about 20-30 seconds of posting the load went down again.

Do you all have the Windows 10 OS version to replicate the issue?

This is mine. Always updated to the most current version. My laptop won't let me update to Win 11.

The CPU issue started recently for me, and I don't think I've had any win updates recently prior to it.

Ive had this issue quiet some time since switching to Chrome back when Mozilla was struggling with old chat caches. I dont believe this is new phenomenon and has been happening quiet some time over the last 6 months.

I'm on Windows 11.

I do not have the issue often, just 4 or 5 times in the past couple of weeks.

Cannot seem to replicate it, as it happens randomly.

Does not seem to matter if I have 1 or multiple tabs open.

Happened once while I was AFK for about 20 minutes, with 1 tab open. Everything was fine when I walked away.

When I returned, I received the high usage warning.

Most recent instance, I had one tab open and minimized while I was sleeping.

When I woke up the next morning, I was receiving the warning of high usage.

Closing the window and starting with a fresh browser generally resolves it.

I'm getting the issue on Edge.

Now that you mention it, I do recall this happening previously.

Was only a couple of times, several months ago.

I was able to close my browser and restart fresh to resolve the issue.

I just chalked it up to something I was doing at the time, since it wasn't persistent.

Didn't really think much about it till recently when it was happening while I wasn't even using my PC, and others were mentioning it on discord.

Beyond that, I have noticed that pages seem to load just a little slower since right around when the island war started. No idea if there is any connection there at all though. Just thought I would mention it.

A friend had this issue the other day, but it was mainly when graphics were displaying on the screen. I know it's not a fix - But make sure you have 'Hardware Accelleration' enabled in Chrome. Will take a LARGE chunk of the load off your CPU and use your GPU to render the browser graphics instead. It helps.
