    We're expecting a new bunch of significant updates on Monday, including resolution of all issues affecting Notes. I'll then post up a poll in GD asking the community if they'd like to revert back to Chat 1.0, that evening.

Here's our most recent list of priority issues the chat team is working through.

Over the last couple of weeks, some steady progress has been made, with many critical issues resolved. It looks like a bunch more big ones will be released imminently on upcoming patches this week and next week, hopefully getting us over the hump.

If you notice that some issues you're experiencing are not on this list, or believe a certain issue should be of higher priority, please let us know. Please remember to be as detailed as possible.

I've noticed a couple of concerning complaints suggesting that chat has actually "become worse" over time - so it'd be good to verify that situation. If you are experiencing issues while others are not, it's been reported that clearing your cache / website data can help.

Generally it would be good to hear if players are noticing the improvements and things are clearly getting better over time, or if major frustrations are continuing and things are not moving fast enough.

Defo improvements from the start the auto scroll back down was making me want to stab my eyes out.

Some things I can't see on the list:


1) The numbers of "unread" chats are not being cleared immediately when opening the chat, you have to scroll up and down a few times.
2) Sometimes he number of "unread" chats moves from the faction tab to the people tab, but eventually clears when doing the thing with #1.
3) Typing in a chat and switching to another chat OR another browser tab deletes everything typed.


Edit: I should add that it is completely normal that the whole chat bar disappears from time to time when you open a new tab, switch tabs or open torn for the first time. They usually come back after a while though. It happens so often I considered it normal behavior until I saw other responses. x)

"Chat entirely broken for certain users" is fixed and released? When did that happen? I still have a completely non-functional chat on Chrome browser on my laptop, as of last night. And it used to work perfectly at one point, but it's been competely broken for over a month now. ?

Connectivity issues are still really common. Sometimes it looks fine and you can post something, only to find out later the messages just disappeared.

I don't want animated profile pictures to be animated in chat. Someone can have an epilepsi inducing monstrosity and I can't avoid seeing it.
I want a compact text mode.

I was expecting 18 and 19 to be worked together to be honest since there might be linked issues that affect both of them.

Still great progress and more team members and friends are using the chat.
One issue that Simp also mentioned above is chats disappear altogether and only return after a few refreshes not sure if this is linked to one of the issues you have noted.

Mmmm.... a new problem popped up. All of a sudden when i send messages, it appears in the chat screen but as soon as I go to a new area of torn the text vanishes. im not talking about text in the boxing waiting to send but things in the upper chat box ive submitted and appeared.

Ive not been able to check with anyone if its just vanishing from my chat screen or from theirs too. I THINK the latter since no ones been responding to me.

Perhaps a misunderstanding, but I thought the new chat was planned to have longer (unlimited?) history.
It's still very short.
Am I mis-remembering or something?

something happening for me that i don't see up (or missed due to 1/2 of it being unreadable in darkmode)

I'll type a message and send it but it doesn't actually send. I don't switch tabs or even switch to talking to a different person. it usually happens at the beginning of the convo or after a pause in talking with them. Once it does start sending i'm usually fine.

happens on comp (firefox & torntools installed) also happens on phone (firefox, no torntools)

You send chat... the chat does not get sent... constantly.
This should be the top priority on the list, why is it not there?
It is the minimum expectation of how a chat works no?
