About two months and more than a handful of days ago, the eagerly anticipated MUSEUM DAY kicked off in Torn, I celebrated my first participation when it commenced, it did not yield as much as I had hoped, but needless to say, it was very exciting for me, especially the part where I had to strategically sell off all the points I had made in order to avoid being buymugged :) , which brings me to the reason for this post.

The days leading up to MUSEUM DAY and the actual day saw a significant increase in the price of points, I don't remember the exact numbers but I think about it was $43,000 - $48,000 or maybe even more, after MUSEUM DAY ended, the price of points diminished significantly; naturally, over the course of the remainder of the year, the price of points will see an increase, which brings me to my question.

How much profit could be made from buying points at the low price they are now by using the profit made from the MUSEUM DAY, then bide my time and wait till when the price shoots up again and then proceed to sell?

Is it a good venture or not?

P.S. This method is probably not new to a bunch of the citizens in torn, if it's been in play already then I'd love some advice on how to make the best of it or whether to drop the idea entirely. Also, this is my first forum write up.

Thanks in advance!

Well, you might make some money, or you might just straight up lose money. The maximum price increase you should expect from people preparing for museum day is 10%, so if the price ever goes down that much from the price you buy at, you will lose money even if you sell at the peak price.

The only thing keeping the price of points at 36k is people doing the same thing and hoping for a massive comeback. When their money or interest runs out, points will sink even further.

I also eagerly anticipated my first museum day, finishing the history course in time and collecting lots of plushie sets. I chose not to sell poiints straight away in order to wait for the price to start to rise again after the intiial sell off.

Quoting the newspaper article published 24th May:

Lt_Wolf went on to say that the current price, just slightly above the $45k price floor, is the normal price we would expect to see. He believes this price should persist until around March of next year--which is when players will probably start holding onto their plushies again in anticipation of Museum Day 2025.

Silly me.

The OP says "naturally, over the course of the remainder of the year, the price of points will see an increase...". Don't bank on it this year. Who knows what will happen since the Pawn Shop change, and possible further changes.

My favorite part of this is that just like in real life, Economists predict incorrectly and implement disastrously, on things anyone with a bathwater temperature IQ instinctively understand as bad to trifle with.

Ched and Bogie say they want new point sinks, which would probably stabilize the market, but they don’t actually implement any.

Weird.

"It hasn't happened yet, so it never will. And that's entirely because they're lying about their intentions."

Moronic take

Even then the point sink they are planning will hopefully be repeatable such as daily refills, more than one time purchases (Big Al Bunker Access, Load out slots etc).

If they are one time purchases, it may give an immediate boost to price of points, but then the free fall will begin anew.

Cute straw man, but that’s not what I said.

At all. Not even close.

However, they have publicly shit on the suggestions that have gained traction so far, so sure…

Soon.

Cheds track record of releasing features in a timely manner isn't that great. Hell we are still waiting for more mission givers a decade later.

Doesn't inspire much hope with bogie in forums shitting on any viable points sink either.
