So, I always asked myself: why are there crazy overpriced items aboard like for example $118,312 Vicodins in Japan.

People don't buy these, I guess, so is it only a useless filler?

Could we put useful items instead, so we can buy something else if there is no plushies/flowers/temps...

Love.

Once upon a time Vicodin was useful and was around 150k in price in item/bazaar markets. It even got up to 250k at one point. But yeah a lot of items over the years are now cheaper in Torn than in the travel destinations. Over supply and or not enough use is usually the culprit for these items.

Hogfather [330973]

Oh yeah that's a point so...

This is probably one of those "oversights" that hasn't been resolved following changes to the game over the years.

Vicodin used to be a lot more pricy than it is today so the multiple locations for it at said stupid prices sort of made sense. But now it just... doesn't.

It's just one of those things that time has changed but the game hasn't fully adapted.

Similar to how Xmas town rewards include box of medical supplies, because they used to be worth a somewhat decent chunk, now they're barely 200k.

Did it lose its value overnight when they made it so instead of needing to take Vicoden to make attacks cost only 25e instead of 50e, 25e was the base cost to begin with?

Ohadik [424017] Wiki Contributor

It cost 50E to make an attack, Vicodin reduced that to 25. So you could make twice as many attacks if you used Vicodin.

Vicodin was invaluable. When Chedburn made it so all attacks were 25E and Vicodin was changed to be a stat boost, the price of Vicodin nose dived. The only reason players took it was to half their attack energy so they could make twice as many attacks. Now players just chain/war with Xanax.

DiamondRook [3309478]

Is it still good pre-war? A lot of player take it a few hours pre-war since you should be off xanax CD anyway. I guess that's not enough to boost the price

Ohadik [424017] Wiki Contributor

Depends on the war  really. I'd say Vicodin is useless for chaining. For wars, yes, your initial volley should be on vicodin because you've already hopefully fully stacked to at least 900E.

Unless it's a mismatch, and your faction just massively overpowers the opponent, vicodin is preferred. If it's a for sure win, Xanax will end it quicker and give you more hits for the war tracking.

Because Ched and the guy that cosplays as an economist keep messing with the economy without even trying to clean up after themselves.

It's always going to be fixed in the next large update regarding that thing, just wait a literal decade.

Why not reduce vicodin price and introduce some kind of buyback in Torn to give it some purpose? Because Drugs 2.0 are coming soon™, just wait 5 more years. Oh there's so much vicodin in circ. that the price won't recover for years? You'd need a real economist to realize that, not this joke that we employ.

Cougan [2749653]

Why are prices don't change according to market aboard, like with a relative percentage according to location. Far destination more reduction on price. I totally understand that Vicodins are now cheap... but why does the aboard market is not following...

I am not a programmer and it is just a pure opinion but isn't it something that could be easily applied?

When attacking cost 50e, using vicodin would cut that in half to 25e where it is today. The cost of vicodin when it was in demand cost around 250k on average at that time. I guess they just never updated it.

People for some reason do on occasion buy these. Don't ask me why but when tracking stock son YATA I always do see slow drops on these overpriced one's quantites.

Chevon [3237207]

That's a possibility, but consider this.

Torn has staff that gets paid to help. And as long as they didn't use a roundabout way to code it, it's just a matter of changing the price. If they optimized the system, it could actually just take a little looking and a few clicks.

Great idea buddy and I really dont want to bring you down but in every week's announcements there is a economy moniroting section.

Given that no monitoring happens I dont think any of this will change. Ched's priorities seem to be generatibg AI images and fixing chat 3.0 while we have to deal with his disasterous releases over a year now.
