Didn't one dude fly out, hit M'aol once, fly back to Torn and then log off?

What commitment did they make? What exceptional effort? They made a bigger effort and went further above and beyond than Proxima did? The players that committed significant amounts of time and money to this fight? I wasn't able to participate because I have this thing called a job. Should I be entirely left out of a gamebreaking item because I can't prioritize Torn over my own life?

It's Halloween. People have kids. People have family gatherings. What about people in the military who get deployed and can't log in for extended periods of time? People with medical reasons who are stuck in a hospital for a little while? Maybe somebodies family member just died and they're taking a few days to grieve.

Buying DPs and such is one thing. I do get everyone's distaste towards it, but I would hope that everyone can agree or at least somewhat see eye to eye on the fact that the money made from DPs is spent faster than you can get it until you actually have investments and stocks. I may have a blue name but the majority of my income has come from RW and PAs.

Even still, if you want to reliably afford SEs with DPs, you need to buy 20 DPs per SE. But I still can't purchase the ability to reread books. Books that are dead weight in my inventory now. I don't get infinite, free energy drinks. I don't get twice the natural energy daily. These are not things that are attainable by 99.9% of the playerbase. Some of which have been here for ten plus years, some of us who have played daily, making sure to not miss drug cds. The longterm goal of this game is to incrementally work towards goals, while everyone in the game has equal footing. You, Ched, and everyone else involved in this decision making process just shoved a giant middle finger into *everyone's* faces.

Everyone always goes on about how the game is a 'marathon and not a sprint', but having everyone run the same race without shoes on is asinine when you give one, two, or in this case six people running shoes. The armor sets are one thing. Weapons, sure. I honestly have no complaints about the armor and whatnot. But giving players items that blow the foundational mechanics of this game completely out of the water? How can that remotely be seen as a good idea?

Time gated. Getting the OP loot or not is very much luck based. And personally I hate it when something that needs this much luck is only once a year if it gets summoned.

If these items were attainable for everybody in a reasonable timeframe I wouldn't have much of a problem with it, but 1 summon a year, 5 NPCs or so that can drop it...with let's say 10000 active players...oh I have a chance of 1:400. That means an average of getting 1 OP loot item every 400 years. Yeah that is beyond inbalanced...

Filthy_GrincH [2605359]

How high were Bogie and Ched when they made those stuff up ?!

the simple fact that someone won a DOUBLED BARS IN THOSE CONDITIONS (pure luck while thousands of players couldn't even join the fights) makes me wanna quit.

Event was unplayable, frustrating and is definitly just AN OTHER LOTTERY with game breaking items....

Already cancelled sub AGAIN
This time it might be for good.

I can understand the approach of garnering community engagement. Saving for the elusive summoning event, causing this community wide event that is, praise given where praise is due, a spectacular new and intriguing event. Mechanics that before now did not exist in the game. Bosses that weren't there. Goals, community engagement, and coordination/cooperation for everyone to usher in this new event.

Proxima spent countless hours saving and grinding and foregoing benefit for everyone in the community to be a part of this. The whole community gathered together in anticipation and fought this incredible new boss.

Only for six random people to get items that are beyond, beyond, *beyond* broken. Everyone else in the community, myself, Proxima, my faction and well, hundreds of other factions are left high and dry. And we're told what, 'we hope this will foster excitement for next year where the exact same thing happens again, and you all get yet another stick in the eye!'

What community changing events are planned now? We go back to quarreling over the island? Cache farming? RW and saving money? What community wide benefits do we get? What incentive do we get to *not* just cash out our treats and take our profits? Do you really think that we're going to be so inspired by this that we collectively spend the next few years saving and saving treats, just so that six other random players can get incomparable benefits that are impossible to attain by other means? Or to even reliably *attempt* to attain?

These items, these relics as a *precursor* to a massive overhaul on community events, on competitions, on warring, fighting over territory, I think they're great. The key word is precursor. As it stands now? Nah. You dropped the ball.

If this is the new direction that the game is going to take then hey, I'm all for it. Genuinely. It sure beats cache farming, especially now that pretty much every single item dropped by a current boss is virtually useless.

M0rty_ [3351630]

No one hating them . Just pointing out the fact that in the long term these items are beyond beyond OP. Talking about Ched , bogie and other decision makers not giving a fk about ppls who've been actively playing all these years by releasing these items. There ppls who give 5$ a month for a chance to get some books. Those who bought tons of dps to be stronger. What about those ppls.

Nuvak [2217078]

Everyone that didnt get the loot feels a bit down because they only got a handleful of refills including me. But going in, my odds of getting any loot was like winning at slots with slightly better odds. In my 5 years here i won the slots once and it was 270m win. So even if you get lucky you might not get TOO lucky. Same as those that got the 200 treat cache which i'm sure many would toss it and 100 more to get any of those special loots.

Personally, if it was one week per year, this is not worth it for me. So what if i can have 25% more crit once a year or double natural e? It's pretty pointless.

The fact they made it so op is actually fun. Also, if you reward the ones that did more damage compared to the ones that didn't, then the strong will get stronger and everyone will be pissed about it like they were with RW and all similar changes with rackets in the past and so on.

This is more fair and will not be as rewarding to people that i'm 100% sure are planning to gate countries like Monarch wanted to do with canada. Or fly out, set a DB so anyone in torn or insignificant country cannot even attempt to join.

So while this sucks and 99.9% of us may never own any of those special items, allowing them to be usable 1 week per year is simply a robbery.

Alfie [2786767]

your playing a game and trying to get other peoples game limited because of your views on the item.... by the same logic the fight was too hard and so was the pre battles

The items are awarded to so little a player base that you will likely never talk to them. its rng in a once a year battle

firefinal2 [1425079]

I think they should be somewhat timegated. Because some of these specials will cause insane disbalance to the game over a longer period of time.

So it would be okay / decent if they are active during Hween for example. Would make more sense overall. But year round, thats insanity and will cause the game to break eventually.

Or maybe make these things active until the next summon. But for the love of the game, dont make these items a permanent boost.

Apollyon [445323]

The current approach to rare relic distribution in the game has created serious issues that compromise the enjoyment, motivation, and fairness experienced by the player base. At the heart of the frustration is a reward system that leans heavily on luck, providing a few players with game-breaking advantages while leaving the majority with little to no chance of accessing these powerful items. This luck-driven model is particularly disheartening for dedicated players who have invested substantial time and resources into the game. Instead of rewarding commitment, it fosters a divide where some players receive powerful boosts purely by chance, while most are left feeling sidelined and unrewarded despite their dedication.

The rarity of these relics creates a massive power imbalance, with those who happen to obtain them becoming significantly stronger than everyone else. This type of disparity alienates much of the player base, as it sends the message that progression and achievement in the game depend less on effort and skill, and more on sheer luck. When the most impactful rewards in the game are locked behind near-impossible odds, it diminishes the value of dedication and persistence. The effect is demoralizing, especially in a long-standing game where players have come to expect rewards that feel both challenging to attain and proportionate to their investment.

Adding to this frustration is the disregard for long-term players who have been supporting the game for years, in some cases even decades. These players have often maintained subscriptions, contributed financially, and upheld the game’s community even during periods of inactivity. Yet, the current relic system undermines this loyalty by providing no meaningful advantage to those who have shown dedication over time. Watching new or infrequent players gain access to powerful relics through random chance feels like a betrayal to those who have been consistently around. This approach fails to acknowledge the role of dedicated players in sustaining the game and, ultimately, makes their loyalty seem undervalued and ignored.

Moreover, the drastic shift in the game’s design philosophy, moving from skill-based progression to luck-based power gains, has further alienated the player base. Players could achieve significant feats through time, effort, and perseverance, even if they weren’t the biggest spenders or the luckiest players. This approach fostered a healthy environment where skill and dedication were rewarded, offering players a path to feel genuinely accomplished. The sudden departure from this model, which now privileges luck above all, feels like a fundamental betrayal of what made the game rewarding to begin with. Players who once relied on dedication as their path to success now find themselves unable to keep up with the few who are fortunate enough to win these relics.

From a purely statistical standpoint, the likelihood of obtaining a relic is so low that it borders on impossible for most players. Calculations show that, even with frequent summons, the majority of players will never have a realistic shot at obtaining a relic, despite years or even decades of active play. These odds are not only discouraging but also deeply demotivating. The realization that one could play diligently for a lifetime and still never attain these high-tier rewards creates a sense of futility. Watching a select few gain exclusive, game-breaking advantages while knowing that one's own efforts are unlikely ever to yield the same results erodes motivation to continue logging in, much less to maintain a subscription.

If there is a summon every year:

  • 2500 attackers: You have approximately a 9.6% chance of getting at least one enhancer drop in the next 50 years.
  • 5000 attackers: You have approximately a 4.9% chance of getting at least one enhancer drop in the next 50 years.

If there is a summon every two years:

  • 2500 attackers: There is a 4.9% chance of getting at least one drop in 50 years if the summon happen every 2 years.
  • 5000 attackers: There is a 2.5% chance of getting at least one drop in 50 years if the summon happen every 2 years.

Without a realistic path to earning these relics, the incentive for long-term commitment fades. Players are left to question the point of investing their time, effort, and money in a game where the most significant rewards feel out of reach, regardless of dedication. Instead of fostering a sense of accomplishment and growth, the current relic system fosters resentment and disappointment. By prioritizing luck over loyalty, the game risks alienating its most dedicated players, leaving many to wonder why they should continue to support a system that offers so little in return.

i voted no they shouldn't be time gated. its far too early to gauge whether they are an issue and like all things it if it does end up being an issue then they can be changed retroactively.

they do seem insanely strong, and the random nature of distribution should keep them outside the hands of the top 100 unless luck befalls them.

Euphoria [1443076] Wiki Contributor

They have to be OP for people to consider hunting them down? You say that as if people haven’t spent years hitting NPCs for much more wank rewards.. Not that hard to have balanced rewards which are still rare because there’s only a week prior to obtain them, glad we have added more equally incapable people with zero comprehension of what will be beneficial to the game in control.

Money keeps rolling in despite consistently bad decisions and a gap from what player base desires and what the idiots up above perceive to be good ideas. No they won’t become deft overnight, but they’ll get to that tier in some time, and if someone like that does receive one these bonuses you’ll soon see just how f**king stupid these bonuses are. I wish a top 100 got the double cooldowns or book one so you could see that but seems only when people unsub that changes are rectified

Private_Joker [2488283]

And yet, despite giving out hunderds of boxes with treats and those OP items... people still complaining about loot being subpar lmao
People will keep complaining no matter what

EDIT: I do not like tho that message from CJ and Ched implies that each year we will get new OP items to give out... 5 for entire torn is enough lol
Can just make it so they are give for one year/until Maol is summoned again.

Apollyon [445323]

Will there be any "relics" that players will be able to work towards besides the ones given out in a lottery?
I believe that is also extremely important for us players to understand.

Milk [2345901]

Six players got S tier items that undermine the literal foundational mechanics that form this game, and the mechanics that the longterm, committed playerbase have stuck around for.

The remaining handful got free refills and 20-30 attacks worth of treats.

Are you blind or just willfully ignorant?

Milk [2345901]

Crimes, faction wars, territory wars. This idea definitely has the potential for major positive changes. God do I wish BB or another top ten player got one of the crazy ones just to make Ched go 'damn maybe we really should start including the playerbase in our decisions'.
