This is the first time im posting so pardon me if im breaking unwritten rules or smthn.

basic premise:

>i see trader

>trader make money

>i start doing history course to make money

>pawn shop poof

>me now finish course

>me now poor

as some1 who thought "OMG so many points for random ahhh stuff" and did the history course and now has to bargain for margins in the 100k region it pisses me off that points are so cheap.

deflation has absolutly moe lestered the profits of the museum and its bad for economy in general

now aside from being greedy, i have a good reason for inflation:

>rich ppl hv big money

>inflation mean price go up

>rich ppl now need to use more money to buy stuff

>poor ppl now get more money

>soicety now proud of me

if the cost of things go up, it rewards the poor who find items that the rich may need to buy, such as artifacts or plushies. deflation means that the rich and the poor get "richer" but the rich get rich much faster and are rewarded just for vaulting money away instead of acc doing stuff

i shld hv more detail but me is not economics student so maybe me is stupid

edit: guys, me is stupid. pls dont shame me for just tryna voice me beinng pissed off about pawn shop removal

the good news is that if you really want to learn about economics and game economies, there are lots and lots of books and information out there on the internet. You can learn learn learn all you want.

the bad news is that this thread is really really bad, but hey many journeys begin with a single step, and this may just have been that single step for you, good luck on your journey

my bad. i just thought that since countries aim for 2% inflation it that might apply. im just smol brain and wanna get rich quick

“>rich ppl now need to use more money to buy stuff

>poor ppl now get more money”

you realize if prices inflate for the rich, the same prices apply to you right?

it would just cost more for everyone and the traders would make even more money.

You do understand that the rich don't always buy the things they need.... they also do what the poor people do

If there is a way to make money the rich will also do it and make more money

This isn't real life where the rich pay someone to make them money on there behalf and just sit there doing nothing

This is torn where you make your own money buy wars... mugging... scams... crimes.... flying

Short answer - no.

Longer answer - nooo.

But in all seriousness, if Ched were to implement anything groundbreaking at the off-chance of alienating the existing playerbase even further, I think Ched were more likely to chew off his foot, rather than make things easier for newer players.

At the end of the day, Torn isn’t just a crime game. It’s a social game, where friends make, or lack thereof, break you.

I suggest interacting with more people - guidance is invaluable.

>me now poor

+ inflation =

  • Sure, you got more money.... but wait
  • The rich one become richer
  • More cake for them
  • now its just a crumb, you can take it :)

Now you rich, you want to buy..

oh no, all stock bought by the rich, lets save somethin.... few months later 💤 🤣

another thread on inflation where people forget that Ched said he is removing/adjusting old ways of making money to make room for new more interesting ways.

The talk of inflation only comes into it when he said if more stuff is added on top of what exists > inflation.

Inflation is generally bad for everyone because your money is worth less and prices go up because each 1 is now worth 0.5 or less so you are still paying the same amount in value just spread across more currency etc..

History and present day are full of examples

radiv119 [3251616]

ofc ofc. first, im not gonna say im right, im just greedy and for me, if points r more expensive then i make more money.

however, the way i thought of it was that a rich and poor person have a similar ability(there is ofc a diffrence but its not that groundbreaking) to find a rare item(for example a flamethrower in the city).

due to a similar ability to find items, it means that the income from that is mostly the same for every1. but the important part is that, for a poor person, if they find a rare item, a few mil makes them much richer but for a rich guy, they can litreally gamble things like EVDs away for no noticable affect to networth.

if they have a similar income stream then its the poor who wins cuz now they hv "life-changing" money

keep in mind im assuming stuff and im just stupid so im likley wrong in one way or another

radiv119 [3251616]

my bad. i just thought:

>country has economy

>torn has economy

>torn=country

>country have inflation

>torn hv inflation

> me maybe rich now?

im really just being monkey brain
