We are pleased to announce the appointment of Velthir to the staff team with a dedicated remit: script moderation.
It is unorthodox for me to make a specific post regarding staff positions, however given the nature of this I feel it prudent for public awareness.
Velthir brings extensive experience in this field and a strong familiarity with Torn's systems, player behaviours, and the ecosystem of third-party tools. His focus will be to strengthen our response to illegal scripting, accelerate the vetting of legitimate user scripts, and ensure a consistent, transparent approach to enforcement whilst working alongside our existing team such as myself, Julie, splent and IBF in handling these requests. This is a player very familiar to us, someone who has assisted us before and someone we trust to be able to handle these cases fairly and without bias alongside us.
Over time, community tooling has grown in both sophistication and volume. Much of it is useful, but some of it crosses clear lines and violates our guideline on automation, spoofing, scraping or polling that creates unfair advantage, and attempts to bypass technical or policy limits.
Bringing in a new specialist allows us to move faster, make firmer calls, and avoid contradictory guidance. However, please be aware we will still be sticking with policies laid out in this previous announcement, requiring a final verdict between multiple parties following a behind the scenes discussion: https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=1&t=16119253&b=0&a=0&start=0&to=19668012
Velthir will oversee three core areas. First, case handling and triage: he will receive and prioritise reports and submissions, with particular attention to tools that directly affect gameplay integrity. Secondly, standards and consistency: he will apply existing rules in a uniform manner and document precedents so that similar cases reach similar outcomes. Finally, community and developer liaison: where scripts are close to compliant, he will work with authors to bring them into line, and where they are not, he will make that clear early and unambiguously.
What should players expect? You can expect faster, clearer decisions on whether a script is permitted; more predictable enforcement where rule breaches occur; and reasoned outcomes that reference the relevant rule and the behaviour detected. None of this changes the underlying rules. It does improve the speed and coherence with which we apply them.
For script authors and users, the guidance is straightforward. If you are unsure, submit your script for review before using it. Provide a plain-English description of what it does, where it runs, what it reads or writes, and whether it initiates actions without an actively engaged player. Tools that automate gameplay, simulate inputs, or harvest data on pages you are not actively viewing should be assumed not permitted unless explicitly cleared. Quality-of-life tools that remain strictly within our rules are more likely to be approved when their behaviour is transparent and well-documented.
Reporting suspected illegal scripting remains important. Please continue to use the in-game report channels and include dates, locations, and a clear description of the behaviour observed. Well-evidenced reports let us act quickly and decisively.
This appointment strengthens our commitment to a fair and competitive environment without stifling legitimate community innovation. Velthir's focus and background mean we can address problematic tooling more effectively, vet lawful scripts more quickly, and keep Torn's standards consistent for everyone.
Please join me in welcoming Velthir to the team.
