I've been following Dispatch for months, because I like everything about it - the core concept (former superhero directing a group of misfits who used to be villains), the art style, the choice of voice actors, and more.

It released a week and a half ago. It's an 8-chapter Visual Novel with choices that can alter overall events moving forward. While some of the choices are more of a way to let you flex your own attitude, there's a surprising number of path-altering decisions. Chapters 1 and 2 were released at launch; 3 and 4 were released last week; 5 and 6 will be released in a few days; and the finale of 7 and 8 will come out a week from now. All for the base price - no DLC here (well, ONE optional DLC, which is access to the music, art, and related comics.)

They're releasing it in stages to get conversation going, to get people talking about the decisions that were made, theories on what's going on and what might be coming later - they wanted to get the sort of chatter going on that you see in weekly television shows, rather than the kind of discussion that results in an all-at-once release of a show.

And the reviews are glowing. Some people are recommending it as Game of the Year content, others are talking about how deep and real the characters are.

For those who have never heard of it, here's the Steam page:

I've played the first two chapters and so far am very impressed with the quality and storytelling. The core, titular mini game mechanic - dispatching heroes is really fun as well. I'm really hoping after the 8th release they let you go into an unlimited dispatch mode and just keep playing after the story ends!

It reminds me a lot of other meaningful choice games such as The Wolf Among Us.

It's good. Nice to enjoy a narrative game. As long as Ad Hoc doesnt dilute itself in trying to find an identity I think they'll do okay.

Dispatch seems like the right call.

They own what's left of TellTale, and they released this game while still waiting for what's left of their acquisition to work on Wolf Among Us iirc.

It was really fun to play. It felt like an interactive movie more than a fully fledged video game but it was still amazing with various aspects. I decided to play all 8 episodes in one go because the suspense would've killed me 🤣

It sounds like a fantastic experience, especially with the unique concept and character depth. I love the idea of releasing chapters to keep the conversation alive! I’ll definitely check out the Steam page and join in dummies world cup on the discussions. Excited to see how the choices impact the story!
