Have you ever read a post that just feels “off” and run it through an AI communication-analysis tool?
Not to diagnose anyone, of course, but simply to examine the behavioral patterns in the writing.
Things like argument structure, logical distortions, emotionally charged phrasing, or other indicators of unstable or irregular communication styles tend to stand out very clearly.
I’m not entirely sure how ethical it is beyond general communication review, but it is interesting to see how an objective third-party system highlights recurring patterns and flags problematic language. I had quite an eye-opener myself when I tried it once.
Some of the common communication patterns these tools tend to identify include:
-
Hostile Attribution Style – interpreting neutral or ambiguous actions as intentionally harmful.
-
Excessive Certainty Without Evidence – presenting personal interpretations as absolute fact.
-
Overgeneralization – using sweeping statements like “always,” “never,” or “everyone.”
-
Emotionally Charged Language – hostility or inflammatory wording replacing rational argumentation.
-
Conspiratorial or Coordinated-Motive Assumptions – seeing simple decisions as part of a larger scheme.
-
Personalization of Neutral Events – assuming routine actions are uniquely targeted at the writer.
-
Projection of Intent – attributing motives or emotions to others without evidence.
-
Escalation of Conflicts – minor disagreements turning into accusations or moral outrage.
-
Lack of Proportional Response – emotional intensity far beyond the scale of the issue.
-
Dichotomous / Black-and-White Framing – no nuance; everything is entirely good or entirely corrupt.
-
Externalization of Responsibility – assigning blame outward with little self-reflection.
-
Narrative of Persecution or Victimhood – framing oneself as unjustly targeted or oppressed.
-
Grandiose Self-Positioning – portraying oneself as the lone truth-teller or heroic defender.
-
Logical Inconsistencies – contradictions, shifting standards, or unsupported claims.
It’s fascinating how clearly these patterns emerge when viewed through a neutral analytical lens.
