With probably around 10b or more down the drain myself and others much worse, thanks to this wonderful bonus change I think we should morally and mentally support each other in these dark times. Furthermore I am interested in what others will do with their now useless red/orange/yellow puncture rifles. Will you hold out in hope ched reverses the change, or that prices eventually recover someday, or will you swap to something safer and less likely to get nerfed into the ground like power/de etc ?

Amen brother. I'm too lazy to move mine but I only paid 2b for it so I'll just eat what ever loss it is. I've lost like 5x that on all my warlords so it's what ever tbh. Another day another chedding.

Nothing to do but form a LR-esque EOD Rangers discord where we simply spend the scraps of our sad days coordinating Punc Enjoyer attac on EOD enjoyers

It's absolutely RIDICULOUS that a weapon is nerfed 3+ years after ranked weapons existed.

You might as well tell your playerbase to go f**k itself.

Hopslam [795412]

There there Wade.  Everyone that plays Torn long enough will eventually face a game change that costs them billions by no fault of their own.  Just the nature of the game I suppose, no set end, still being developed game.

seintz [2460991]

it's the only bonus that can mitigate EOD bonus, how can you call it a nerd? yes they lowered the proc chance but ignoring EOD is huge

Apolinus [3017918]

Because the use case for those weapons is now so narrow as to be laughable for a literal 99% of players.

EOD armor is the end game of the end game.  There are what, 200 sets?

The use case here is you’re probably fighting someone in SE range sitting in a HOF faction wearing EOD.  Which means YOU better be in SE range sitting in a HOF faction (and probably wearing EOD too).

Even in HOF faction fought wars or TT wars, it’s only the top 3-10 heaviest hitters in the faction fighting for top control.  Most everyone else has plenty of other targets to hit to gain score.

So puncture is now the best choice for….  Maybe a couple hundred people in the entire player base?

seintz [2460991]

It also negate all yellow sets, probably the def/dex set too so I'd say beside the delta and vanguard every armor is "weaker"

I'm not saying it has become the best perk, but I wouldn't call it a nerf either

Wade [2220399]

Losing 15 % or so proc rate and 10b-12b + in market value is a buff yes. Especially to cater to a couple hundred active end game players out of what 4 million now ? Perfectly balanced.

seintz [2460991]

from the news it says from 20 to 15 so it's a 5%

the market value loss is probably due to mass panic or people just being dumb, I honestly can't see a reason to it since it's the only perk that counters all armors except for 2 (or at least the defense perk part, since the armor part works on all kinds of armors)

reducing the proc chance was obviously a consequence of the buff it received

maybe I'm the dumb one for not seeing this massime nerf everyone is talking about

Sorry I was just er... Looking for the "I bought a secondary weapon that had a good revit proc and then they made most revit weapons secondary support group?"

AshleyT [1432316]

The problem comes from the fact that the proc chances were already unreliable as is, making the entire function of the weapons it is on effectively gambling with little advantage over grey weapons if they didn't proc their bonus, and unlike a debuff the effect is one and done, placing it fairly low on the list of bonuses when you have abilities such as powerful that typically result in greater effects during the course of a combat.

The nerf is that it's already fairly unreliable nature has been made even more unreliable, in exchange for gaining the ability to directly counter an armour type with not that many total sets even in Torn in the first place.

It's ability to counter yellow armour bonuses is almost inconsequential compared to the effect of a Powerful or Expose weapon, since it's bonus is not actually that impactful against those armours unless if it also procs on a critical hit and the chance of both a critical and puncture proccing at the same time is incredibly remote.

It's effectively got a buff at it's absolute peak at the cost of a nerf to literally any time it's not at that peak, meaning the times it is more useful to use than another bonus has been reduced, making it a net nerf and making a niche that wasn't that big to begin with even smaller.

In effect, it's now on par with something like Achilles or Cupid, highly niche and unreliable, relying on the RNG of other effects to even have a chance of being better than other effects.
