It's only a profit if you retain that money. Sqall was still negative cash after the sale, according to the bounty on them so all that happened is Fishyfox overpaid for some SEs.
Is abusing negative money on hand a fair mechanic?

HAHAHAHAHA
It still should be considered a profit because the debt is lower by Fishyfox's voluntary overpayment, no?
If a business is in vast amounts of debt and they sell some assets to balance the books, if someone comes along and pays over market value that doesn't make the business profitable, especially if they're still in the red.
Fishyfox maybe should be entitled to a customer of the month trophy or something but the business still needs to be in the green before that happens, can't be going and making frivolous expenditure while you're still in debt.
If you werent buy mugging this wouldn't have happened to you. Its just a risk of choosing that play style.
"without checking every potential mug target's money on hand through hiring someone to do it through job points"
I'm sure this exists for that reason
No interest is owed if the bank accidently overpays you.
Late to this one as I just woke up.
It's absolutely not fair and it's ridiculous that staff think that this is an acceptable mechanic to correct gambling issues. There are a handful of better ways that discrepancies in gambling outcomes could be corrected other than literally just reversing the payment and putting the player's wallet into the negative, but community and staff don't care because mugging is generally looked down upon, and buy-mugging is even less unpopular.
It's at the point that players are probably actively seeking this game state in order to abuse to make money from, as this is at least the second time Sqall has done this, and it won't be the last as staff don't see this gameplay as abusive.
Hahahaha womp womp
tell me how to do it and i will let you know?
Except the debt was removed later by staff right? So the debt being lower was useless?
Oh look, a CR member thinks that it's unfair that another CR member fell foul to their own stupidity. What is it with faction families being incapable of criticising their own members? Fishyfox was lazy and fell foul of their own ignorance, they wasted 25e and lost out on a couple hundred mil, get over it and move on.
And if people are intentionally getting their account put into negative funds to still end up in negative funds honestly let them, I'd rather that as a money sink than anything else Ched has come up with as a money sink.
Yea, but how do you plan around getting paid in error and having the cash recouped - after you bought several high priced items, leaving you with a negative cash balance.
And then you post them on the market and go to bed, secure in the knowledge that you won't get mugged on the sale; Which is what OP is in a twist about.
If the insinuation is this person is intentionally gaining a negative balance to bait muggers into overpaying, that's kind of silly?
Are you incapable of looking past faction tags? I don't care that this occurred to a CR family member, I care because I am also a mugger and I think it's a stupid mechanic that is being taken advantage of, and I've also fallen afoul to it in the past.
Oh look, a Nuke member, you must be really bad at looking after your money!!
You’re inarguably the biggest f**king moron in this thread and I hope looking back you cringe on how unbelievably stupid you are. You clearly cannot understand the concept of a profitable transaction. Have a loved one check you for signs of a concussion.
If the player was genuinely attempting to recoup costs overnight without risk of getting mugged, they'd price the items at a reasonable market price (445m-450m) rather than overpriced enough to profit significantly off, and just high enough where prospective buy-muggers can still turn a decent profit.
I'm not insinuating that the person is intentionally gaining a negative balance, I'm outright stating that this is the case. They have done this in the past, and their actions are repeating that same behaviour. Do you really think the player organically had 13 parachutes in their inventory just waiting to sell them in case they happened to fall into debt? Of course not, they bought the parachutes after this situation occurred in order to bait muggers.
So you too ignored the game mechanic that allows you to check peoples cash on hand? For buy muggers you guys really should put a bit more effort into your craft.
And actually I signed up to the Nuke bereavement fund, it's a fund leadership started to ensure that people are supported after they face the hardship of vault thefts in future. I'm not sure how the funds will be distributed but I heard leadership just got a new hot tub.
"A profitable transaction" Sure pal, have a good day.
Why do people keep mentioning this like are we not trying to have a serious discussion here.
