Subject: On the Inconsistency of Social Guidelines and Game Content
I am writing to address the growing discrepancy between the game's core content and the enforcement of the Social Guidelines.
It is widely known that Torn City features mechanics centered around criminal activities, drug addiction, and risk-taking behaviors—ranging from overdosing to in-game ranks like "Nudist." These elements are, by standard industry definitions, mature content. Yet, we are told the chat environment must be moderated as if this were a "13+" platform.
This leads to a fundamental contradiction:
Content Mismatch: How can a game built upon adult themes and crime be held to the standard of a 13+ social environment? There is a blatant clash between the game’s features and the current moderation policies.
Selective Enforcement: Many users frequently spam, promote, and engage in blatant nonsense without consequence. However, when a user points out these contradictions or challenges the internal logic of the moderation, it is immediately met with chat bans under vague clauses like "harassment" or "ignoring staff warnings."
These "Social Guidelines" (as referenced in the support docs) are often interpreted so broadly that they become tools for silencing critical discussion rather than protecting the community.
Is the goal of moderation to ensure a fair environment, or is it to shield the staff from valid questions regarding the game's own inconsistency? I would appreciate a clarification on how these rules are meant to be applied consistently, rather than as a selective mechanism to silence those who point out the obvious.
I know it's offtopic but it's just as important as anything else
