Three years back I signed on scared, with Facebook in my ear,
"They'll rob you blind and screw you good!"—so I lived in fear.
Then SharkeyFive came hunting me and proved the warnings true,
I hunkered down, distrustful, sure the whole game was a zoo.

But Amsterdam flipped the whole script—real friends, a real good time,
And Boston's next this August (Long Island's in my rhyme).
Then stumbled onto something odd, a free ad, nothing lost:
I'd trade some verse for Xanax and just eat the tiny cost.

Well the Xanax rolled right in, and better still, the folks were kind,
Not hoodlums out to gut me—no, the sweetest you could find.
This game's got a thousand faces, and I've barely seen a few,
So here's my thanks to all of Torn—I'm having a blast, are you?

When I started playing a little over 3 years ago, I learned about the game from Torn Facebook. FB taught me that every single player here was out to screw me and to be super distrustful and careful with any player at all in the game.

Right around this time, I was also 'blessed' to be chosen as a target by SharkeyFive... Remember him? Well that interaction kind of reinforced what I learned on Facebook.

BOY WAS THAT ALL WRONG!!!!!!

I had a blast in Torn Amsterdam making new, real world friends and am also attending Torn Boston in August (I live on Long Island, NY).

Now I quite accidentally discovered a whole new face of Torn!!    POETRY - YES - POETRY

I recently got the stock block that gives me free banner ads, but I don't have a company yet, or a faction or anything to sell so what to do, what to do... So I put up an for poetry about you for 1 Xanax. Cost me nothing and if no one messages me, then who cares...

Well - I have been paid a few dozen Xanax in only a few weeks. And every interaction is incredible. People are so nice, and appreciative!

These are not the dishonest hoodlums I was warned about!!??

I have seen an entirely new side of Torn. I am completely blown away with peoples kindness, responsiveness and interest in just simple poetry.

This game is so multifaceted, there are so many different kinds of players its really crazy.

I hope you all are loving Torn as much as I am!

And if anyone thinks this is a shameless plug to try to get more Xanax... (just check my profile!) Well maybe it is, but it is also definitely a massive show of gratitude to the game, the volunteers and all of you!

Surely I cannot write prose to compete,

with the Great Skeeve, I cannot unseat,

them from their throne, their mastery complete,

or buy off their fandom with pictures of feet,

thus I square my shoulders, and shouldn’t whine,

as I recall, Torn denizens are quite unkind,

to those who first post without vapid mind,

and as the pitchforks draw near, torch flames shine,

poor TheGreatSkeeve will be the one to bear the brunt,

for pseudo-begging in GD, troglodytes will call him a…

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturitions are to me,
As plurdled gabbleblotchits,
On a lurgid bee,
That mordiously hath blurted out,
Its earted jurtles,
Into a rancid festering confectious organ squealer.
Now the jurpling slayjid agrocrustles,
Are slurping hagrilly up the axlegrurts,
And living glupules frart and slipulate,
Like jowling meated liverslime,
Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turling dromes,
And hooptiously drangle me,
With crinkly bindlewurdles,
Or else I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon,
See if I don’t.
