I have no issue with RW protection as long as its being used for what its designed for but the truth is its blatantly being abused by gamblers.

Gamblers already have self hosping and other methods to stop them from being mugged which is fine and gives muggers a challenge which i have no problem with but the abuse of RW protection needs to be fixed, they can med out with billions without a single worry which is not what it was intended for and with a lot of wars being termed they can have this protection for as long as 3-4 days.

My suggestion is that if they want to use RW protection for what it was designed for then fair enough but if they want to gamble during it they should have it removed for 24 hours. For example if they try to start RR or poker game while having protection a message should appear warning that they will lose protection for the next 24 hours if they wish to gamble. If they dont want to lose protection they click no and keep it, if they click proceed they are able to gamble but lose protection for the next 24 hours.

This is a simple and easy way to prevent abuse of the RW protection system.

I mean, i mug people and am annoyed by that protection, but tbf some people dont abuse it

i remember winning 1b at poker while in a rw, ipecac, leave table, ghost, med out

no rw protection, but with the spam mugs that came after and got 0, the protection kept me from losing all my med cd and becoming useless in war

With your system, id either have to miss out on my 1b session or stop being one of the wars top hitters (humbly, i was like top 3 or smth) which would likely lose the war and lose the faction 1b (the payout after fac expenses was like 2b for winners and 1b for losers). either way, your system would provoke a 1b loss on someone who wasnt abusing

theres really no way to 100% know without human intervention if someone is using it to gamba, this cant be implemented imho

As much as i understand the frustration of muggers from 60s merc protection affecting their game in a bad way, the suggested protection lift wouldn't have worked well. Because then everyone would RR at the start of a war and then get full merc show down without protection.

I think the fix to this is that a bunch of things should be locked during war, casino, crimes, gym etc.

So factions wouldn't like to time out for days.

This solves then everything, together with some of the RW deals.

I have no idea how that absolute nonsense you just typed has anything to do with this suggestion but we are talking about people being able to repeatedly med out with billions to gamble and benefit from RW protection to avoid being mugged.

Yeah essentially saying "fuck off, war or don't play the game for 2-5 days" would probably go a long way to, at the very least, killing off termed decay.

That said, I'm not against removing the 60s countdown in general. I thought it was dumb then, I think its dumb now. Removing it specifically for gambling doesn't really feel effective, it'll just turn to "start a $1 game of RR with a fac mate for easy mercing".

as a mugger i don't like any of the associated "muggers whining about mechanics that have been this way for years"

but the problem here is just general ED abuse and termed wars lasting forever, its not mugging specific, also massively affects bounties and mercs

Having to hit full throttle every week or 2 weeks is too much for 95% of the player base and Ched would be unlikely to rock the boat for such a minority of the people interacting with the system. You would also need most of your roster to stack 1k E every week just to hit the cap faster so you could unlock the gym which is counter intuitive as you waste days for stacking as it is.

I’d suggest having 2 forms of ranked. Keep the current one as it is (basically a loot piñata which isn’t a bad thing because it encourages engagement for a lot of people and keeps the player count up) and then add in a second, more serious ranked (Ranked+/arena/whatever you want to call it). This mode is only enabled if you’ve won 5 games in diamond in the past 2 months (numbers/requirements can be altered) and is more of a death match. Most of the city becomes blocked off like travel, gym, casino etc and the timer only lasts 24hrs. Instead of it being hit count/respect based, it’s more like a ticket system WITH a catch. Both sides start with X points and the only way to lose points is by being in hospital. Every member in hospital/unable to fight deducts points and whoever has the most dominance wins. It’s a much more fast paced game mode and rewards activity and putting your opponent in the ground rather than all this self hosping slow paced version we currently have. The reward for the winner should also be more handsome than the current version of ranked, and it should be refereed by staff if teams try to match fix. Lose 3 matches and you have to win another 5 games in diamond to get back in to keep incentive to stay in rather than term a loss as well.

Your suggestion as outlined would be abused far more than the gamblers abusing what exists today and would definitely have a material impact on wars.

A few alternate suggestions:

1.) Ranked war score caps are lowered by 30% (significantly faster wars = less ED)

2.) No withdrawing or depositing of any kind while the 60s timer is active.

3.) Reach out to the ranked war opponents and split the $.

AiR [2251655]

It was introduced because wars were being fought by mercs.

Even if i personally enjoyed the merc scene back then, we have to admit having to race against an outside merc to get a hit in an RW wasn't great.

ED and this 60sec timer is though killing a ton of other mechanics such as bounties, mugging, raids.

Having it for some hours to a day while war is being fought would be fine but due to termed wars, it becomes from Thursday to Tuesday, then there is basically only 2 days someone can be bountied without ED for instance.

“I might be why BHG had to change some rules regarding targets relaying ED plans to mercs 👀🫣”

Since the start of BHG we pointed out whether they had ED or not to the buyers of contracts, that was literal years before I knew you. Not sure you changed anything?

Avery [2765920]

I understand the merc problem yeah, I guess I had a different viewpoint as it was our (then) subfaction we warred in, with groups of 10-15 people. We used mercs to offset how easy it was for 1 big stat person to fill the other 9 slots with greenleafs and completely control the war, while giving us horrible base R. With the change, warring became a nightmare.

It was definitely a more niche case, trying to be a legit faction among what we found to be 99% cache farms, but as someone that only experienced that kinda warring and at that time never 100 man warring, I can only really speak to my experiences with the change, which is solely negative.

Were there less outright termed wars back then? Feels like the terms usually ended up being "no mercs", not "we're going to win and give you 40% of the total profit" or whatever. Least it always felt that way looking in from the outside.
