Since the introduction of the wheels the points market has dropped significantly.
Currently about 2k each point lower then it was before the wheels. I'm sure that it has given a lot of serious thoughts before it was decided that there could be so many points won on the wheel, but with the economy report in mind that was released 2 months ago it does surprise me a a bit as it was stated that "Following a drop from $80k, prices have been remarkably stable at $68k" while prices are now around 66k.
Since there are 1.25M points bought on a weekly basis that means that around 2.5b less money is in the game every week. There are other items that also have had huge pricedrops (Business Class Tickets for instance), but i do wonder what the deeper thoughts are to destabilize the pointmarket this much while only 2 months ago it was stated that the economy was so healthy which wonders why you want to change that "remarkably stability".
Errrr. Anyone who was storing cash in points. Assuming that what the OP remains fact and not just hyperbole. Then anyone with significant volumes of points just lost 3% of their value. Some people will be holding billions. So they might care.
I'd imagine that the price will go back up shortly.
The introduction of a new feature will always get more people using it at the start and it will eventually drop off in turns of the number of users, which in turn will create less points generated through this method, bringing the price back up close to the old value.
out of maybe 10 spins of the wheel of awesome i probaby landed on the 100 points about 3 times... extra 300 points (19.8 million roughly)...
That's alot of extra points flooding the market and i'd agree with the OP in regards to that's the reason why the point market is dropping but again as someone previously replied it's a new game.. people might get bored of it.. etc..
So far i cant see myself not spinning it with returns like that.. also the merit... private islands... etc..
You have only lost if you sell them at the lower price. Lemmings always seem to sell when the price goes down on things. Dont be a lemming there is nothing to worry about :P
Well, it's one of those things where...why would you store points? And why is it such a big deal? Everytime I fly, I end up seeing that once upon a time points were only a couple of hundred dollars. So if something goes up, apparently they can come down. Basically, if everything raised in price, it would be harder to get and if everything lowered in price it would be easier to get, but that really doesn't affect the main part of the game which is train, crime, talk shit in forums. That's the basis of the game. Everything else is extra and what we make of it. I mean it's good to be ABLE to be billionaires and all that, but c'mon. I wonder how many of us are actually watching our money this closely in real life lol
As someone who uses the museum a lot, my profit from turning in flowers and plushies has dropped significantly with this 2k drop. I'm hoping this isn't permanent because I'd like to start selling my points again instead of hoarding them.
If they stay as low as they've been, that's going to end up hitting all the folks who run flowers and plushies. The buyers can't pay the prices they used to pay and sell at current point prices.
One way or another, I expect it to balance itself out. Either point prices will go up, or flower/plushie prices will drop.
not unheard of for an update to crash point prices. when cayman island was changed from taking your money to giving you money, all the people storing money in points sold and got out of storing money as points and crashed the price down so they could store in caymans.
it's only 2k, which is probably only because some noobs post up their wins for cheap and then all the other idiots try to undercutting it getting into a undercut war. if it crashes drastically then it's a problem but 2k is nothing. more points are getting added to the game, pretty obvious the price will change by going down a bit.
