I wonder if this and the unspecified keepsake items recently added confirms there will be new ones released on the upcoming Torn anniversary.
Is this going to bump the price of the existing ones and would you still buy one for 5k points? And is this the plan to temporarily halt the point price freefall?

Desperately trying to artificially inflate the points price. Nothing says healthy economy like 500% price hikes.

No, the withered items have different IDs. Some of the withered items are already being sold in the auction house.
The issue isn't hyperinflation, really. It's balancing supply and demand so that each layer of the game actually works.
Sapping out the massive surplus of points gives more money to newer players who rely on flying for cash
Then giving older players keepsakes that they'll inevitably try to sell on the item and auction markets multiple times per item as the value goes up saps more dollars out of the economy.

They have set icons already. Any guesses as to who / what they are?
My guess would be one of them is Emforus for all the crime guides, but the icons don't really help with figuring it out...
