I've been in torn intermittently for almost 9 years (I keep to myself mostly and I'm a below average player). I often would enjoy reading the forums, particularly GD. I took about 2 years off from torn due to RL situations and **** me has it gone downhill since.
They should re-label general discussion as general bitch fest. Between people pretending to be blind (****ing weird btw) to others using it as a platform to goad and insult other players, it seems torn forums have gone to shit. Maybe it was always like this and I'm only noticing now.
I agree however I suspect that individuals that are prone to elevated pixel stress levels behave similarly in real life.
This can be down to a number of issues such as being overworked, lack of sleep, financial or family issues or just that individuals personality trait as being more likely to invoke stressful emotions from minor set backs in-game or irl.
I can't begin to imagine how one would feel stress from playing this game. I'm not criticising anyone that does experience stress, I just cannot understand why or how anyone would.
IRL I'm not a serious gamer, never was. I played this game (originally) just out of a passing interest and have only recently decided to play seriously and even still I cannot imagine anything that could cause me stress as a result of playing.
Hmmm maybe I'm not taking this game serious afterall. Regardless, see below for my opinion relating to this discussion
Do you experience stress in torn? I don't get stressed irl so a game is certainly not gonna stress me
If you do, how do you deal with it? N/A
Do you set timers for drug / travel so that you don't miss them? I have this timed down to a fine art so no need to use alarms
If not, are there a better way to do this? As above
Staff are (presumably) given guidelines for forum bans but they are just that .. guidelines .. Trolls find a way around these guidelines and it generally manifests as a type of passive aggression.
The posts word for word are not .. in essence offensive in some cases, however an individual's true motive or meaning in posts are generally determined through their previous historical interactions with the community.
I call your attention to recent posts by a certain BC-M16 (I presume the BC stands for brain cells and the 16 stands for the amount the individual has at hand)
If one was to review this individuals posts one would clearly see that the motivation of this individual is to create a reaction to which he can feed off. Technically his posts do not break the rules but morally they are dispicable.
Unfortunately staff are required to react to technically offensive posts not morally offensive posts. There in lies the problem.
It's always terrible when a fellow player passes away, even more so at such a young age. RIP
BTW, this thread is about someone's passing, don't make it about some fools shit stirring comments, if you want to let him have it verbally then create a separate thread about it and ignore his vile comments on this thread.
1. Marijuana. I'd bring some marijuana and use the seeds to grow more marijuana plants so I could fashion a variety of hemp items to become self sufficient.
2. Reindeer droppings. To use as fertilizer
3. A windproof lighter. To smoke ... I mean light camp fires.
I'm not gonna assume to know anything about you so I would be foolish to give you anything other than a general opinion on how stress manifests itself as it is different for each individual.
However one thing that stress does have in common with all of those afflicted, is it's affect on the decision making skills of an individual (to some degree). This can affect Torn and rl, in my opinion.
