Torn is a marathon, not a race; and 2 weeks of lost training won't really affect your stat total 1 year from now. On the other hand, if you save up 200M capital in a couple of weeks using this strategy, it could help generate passive income for you forever, helping you train much better in the future. This is especially true when you get to higher stat totals where happy jumps won't be viable - At that point you would ideally want to transition into FHC jumping or using cans perhaps; What you don't want at that point is to realize that you spent everything you earned as a newb and have no income sources now.
Of course, this is just my opinion, and a lot of people would disagree strongly with what I suggest. Everyone has their own take on how to get the most out of their game, you need to decide your own path :)
TL;DR - Don't use up all your money on trains in the beginning, generating passive income will help you train much better in the long run.
when I could afford to spend $1b+ in cans/fhcs,
AND the faction steadfast lined up with the stat I want to train,
AND there wasn't a chain/RW coming up,
AND there wasn't a competition in that month that I'd miss out on,
AND I didn't have many real life commitments so I could be active enough every single day.
With the result that most of my books have been sitting gathering dust in my inventory for years now. Looking back now it seems pretty stupid to keep waiting for the "perfect" time to use them and end up not using them at all. Thanks a ton for this post, it was exactly what I needed to hear. Time to use some books!
Chedburn's announcement said that the wheel gives out more money, on average, than people put into it. That's probably why it's limited to one spin a day. They could change it to just require one casino token per spin, but then they'd probably change the code to favour the house just like in all the other games.
I'm satisfied with it as it is.

Nice one! Good thing I have a free merit reset to roll back the merits after putting 1 in each haha.
Tiny counting error in the education part of the sheet - the perks listed sum to 66 if you tick all of them.
I'm a dumass
I know I'm gonna sink half my money doing this but f**k it, R+. Only thing I'd add is, maybe instead of a flat 2x BB, make it a percentage of the pot. Getting to see your oppenent's cards in a 800m pot by paying just 10m would be 1) unfair imo, 2) a huge money sink for me personally as I'd do it every hand xD
So on what tables have you guys won/lost the most money? Personally the table I've won the most at is River Wizard with +$2.8B, while I've lost the most at Slow Cooker at -$1.6B.
Do you have a favourite table? If so, how much have you won at it?
If you don't already know about it, you can use the amazing Torn Report to check out your poker wins/losses by table.
P.S. If you find your favourite tables constantly full, upvote this suggestion to introduce more tables at fan-favourite stakes: Suggestion Thread
There are a few community-favourite tables that are at full-capacity very regularly.
- Low Stakes: Ballsy, Boom or Bust
- Medium Stakes: Pound It, River Wizard
- High Stakes: Cat's Chance, Slow Cooker
All throughout peak-time (and on weekends, even off-peak time), you can find all of these tables at maximum capacity a majority of the time. As soon as a seat does open up, it's instantly filled by someone watching the table and waiting for their chance to play. I personally have waited 15+ minutes just watching the Pound It table and hoping someone busts or leaves so that I can get a seat.
The thing to note is that while other tables at the same/similar stakes exist, they are often passed over by poker enthusiasts because of being 6-max or heads-up. Torn Poker players overwhelmingly want to play at a 9-max table.
So my suggestion is thus: Introduce three new 9-max tables at the stakes of 25k BB, 250k BB, and 2.5m BB.
This will provide a buffer table for the times when the main table (at your preferred stakes) is full (which is quite often), without forcing you onto a 6-max table or having to wait a long time for a seat to open up.
TL;DR - Poker players often have to wait for a spot to open up on their preferred table. The most populated tables (Ballsy, Pound It, Cat's Chance) should have a backup table at the same stakes and 9-max to cater to the demand.

Doke will borrow money from you and give you arguably the highest ROIs in the game. BUT... he's a degenerate gambler who could lose it all. Give him a RNG (say, 2.5%) chance of betting all your money in the bookie and losing it all. Whoops, sorry mate!
Not only does this differentiate him significantly from the bank, but it also balances the extremely OP money-making method by making it quite risky. Just as you could lose billions in the bookie, so could Doke. The details could be discussed - maybe he only loses a fraction of the money you gave him instead of all of it etc. But having a completely risk free way of making $3.25 Billion per year ($2.5B loaned at 2.5% a week) is just terrible for the Torn economy, and I doubt it will ever be approved by the devs.

Anyway, reading through the announcement, I saw
- Everyone will be able to complete a migration process to Crimes 2.0 voluntarily. Once a player has migrated, they cannot return back to the old system. This is an optional process and will remain so for a long time.
Since this is an irreversible decision, I just wanted to ask, are there any downsides to it? Is there any benefit to holding off and not migrating yet?
Edit: Follow-up question, how does this affect the crime merits/honours?
Leaving without cashing out is like going to a casino and complaining that the chips you get aren't worth anything in the real world
Same for my $25m bet
