After many requests, I have decided to launch a shop for the TornHub on www.tornhub.info. I'm still refining the site, there is some stray dutch here and there, but I have a test batch ready for anyone interested!
Shipping to the US is insane because of tariffs, i really can't help this and am happy to refund any amount turning out to be too much, but it's very hard to figure out how much exactly to pay without going through the whole process and seeing if the package arrives. But I honestly think this is as good as it is atm.
There is free shipping for Dutchies.
The price of the devices is going down as I will scale things up. I will also pledge to keep expanding and updating the dashboards :)
You might remember the good old days of TornPDA. I severely missed TornPDA as a concept while brainstorming about a potential usage for my e-ink device. I picked those up as a hobby to learn programming.
I therefore made myself a Torn E-ink Dashboard to carry around as a E-ink TornPDA and accidentaly leave on the toilet the whole time.
It's a perfect toilet-xanax-reminder, a way to track my stat growth and natural regen. I just wanted to share it with you. It updates every 15 minutes and will run for about a month on 1 battery charge. I soldered the battery and made the side buttons of the device refresh it too.
It's all fairly simple to do and I can recommend it as a beginner project, should you ever wanna try programming a device.
So, I started making oil paintings during lockdown and I was looking for ways to share them. I don't really like social media but I figured maybe this would be a nice place. Before this, I have done some pyrography, burning images into wood. That does take a long time to pull off, so that made me want to try painting. So far, I'm pretty interested to learn more but do want to underline that I am an absolute beginner. With all these pictures I'm just trying out different things, I'm not expecting myself to perform very well. Any feedback is welcome nonetheless.
I was also wondering if anyone can recommend a nice movie still to paint? Or would someone like to have their portrait painted? If you can send me a cool shadowy picture I might try it out.
Currently working with just 4 colors: Cadmium red, yellow ochre, titanium white and paynes grey. Not a very good landscape palette, but perfect for portraits. Or so they say on youtube.
The doggo is done. Unfortunately he died while the painting was being made. This made the painting very special for the owners, but for me, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it like this. Knowing now it has become of such importance to them, I would have wanted to do more, bigger, more durable (this just on cardboard canvas):
When covid hit, I started self-teaching (youtube) oil painting. I've had a big break of about two years, but recently picked the brushes back up and started painting. Recently my love for Pokémon was reinvigorated through the new 151 cards... So I went for pokémon in the style I was learning about: classical oil paintings. Like, with costumes and stuff. A friend of mine told me to post them to Reddit and it totally blew up. After 24 hours I had over a million people that had seen my post and I was blown away.
Now, I am suddenly considering quitting my job to become a full-time artist and that is something I never even dared to dream about. There's about 100 people in line for a commission. After like 8 years of bad luck, I finally got some wind in my back and I was so excited I had to post it here as well.
[image: i.imgur.com]As you asked for a masterpiece, I decided to make an oil painting. Now, oil paint normally has to dry for 6 months, so I can't make a varnished, framed picture of the work but I tried my best anyway.
I might make some mockups of how it would look framed, but for now, heres just the picture (and a work in progress picture).
I painted for about 15 hours. If I feel like doing more the next week, I might, but I'm posting because I do not want to miss that deadline for sure haha.
This is a feature I'd still really appreciate: Either a 'new' tag, showing the stats of an item in the log, or giving ordering options for inventory (sort by > days in inventory).
You know, I'm in it for the marathon not the sprint as they say! :D
I just take my time printing each case, putting the parts together and shipping them out. The custom case backs became customary now, just a 5 minute scribble in the 3D-printing software. Hopefully in the future i'll also get to bigger sized screens, but in the meantime I'm happy to put some extra time into these little fellas :D
You know where to find me if ever you do want one ^^
I was just typing out a similar suggestion, but decided to check if there was an existing suggestion.
So I bump this one instead.
I would be strongly in favor of 2 (new) sorting filters: time since acquisition, and time since last interaction.
Alphabetical (already how it is)/ quantity / value would be no-brainer additions you could easily add while on this.
So you can just select if you wanna sort inventory on newness, last interaction, alphabet, value or quantity. That would be my preferred way to solve this problem as it also solves some other problems like easily changing back and forth to a naked state and grabbing your old armor/weapons again (since you recently interacted with them, they appear on top) while staying within your loadout. Or like sorting on value to easily deduce what is worth selling while filling up item market.
It is a small but exciting tweak: partial screen updates!
Expected Behaviour
Instead of the whole screen flickering on and off, 7 out of 8 refreshes are partial: only in the regions that need updating and without flashes. 1/8 refreshes still needs to be a full one. If too much of the screen changes, it also still does a full refresh.
The risk of the partial refreshes is ghosting (grey leftover pixels) but I have not experienced that yet. Should you ever come across this, I'd be interested to know.
The update was released into the wild about 15 mins ago, so just about every screen should be updated by now.
I'm getting ready to release an update making the TornHub modular / more tweakable. So you can show whatever stat is important to you. Stay tuned!
Tariff panic at the shipping supplier seems to have calmed down - I've adjusted US-shipping back down to 20 EUR. If you've been waiting for lower shipping cost, now is the time!
