Looking too start weekly poker Tourneys Sunday afternoon/early evenings(TBA). So I'm looking to find at least 6-9 guys/girls to start. Depending on interest could expand to other days and times I'm available. All info below.
BUY-INS
Will be 1 million dollars per player and will be sent to me via trade no later then Sunday Morning 13:00(Torn time) day of the game. I'm sure some will think this is a scam but it is not. This is to help avoid players having too carry around a bunch money and risk becoming mugging targets. The actual table buy-in's will be low say no more then 5k per player. I haven't played any Tounry poker on Torn yet so buy-in's and such may change depending on what works out time wise and game flow wise. Looking to keep each tounry between 1-2 hours start to finish. Depending on interest could possible get more then 1 game week in on Sunday(back to back tourneys).
PAYOUTS
5 or under players if we ever played would be winner take all. 6 Player tourneys will pay top 2 finishers. 1st will get 4m and 2nd will get 2m. 7 player tourneys will pay top 2. 1st will get 4m and 2nd will get 3m. 8 player touneys will pay the top 2. 1st will get 5m and 2nd will get 3m. 9 Player tourneys will pay the top 3. 1st will get 4.5m, 2nd will get 3.5m and 3rd will get 1m.
BUY-IN RETURNS
Buy-in's once paid will only be returned if a player asks before the buy-in pay deadline(Sunday 13:00 Torn time on the day of game). After that no buy-ins will be returned unless Torn has a service wide issue/problem or goes down. If that happens all money will be refunded if any player so wishes. Or I can just keep your buy-in and reserve your seat for next week. Totally up too each player what they wish too do.
TABLE SETTINGS
Table settings will be as follows: Table name: Gear's Poker Room Buy-in: $5000 Speed: 60secs Minimum Level: Unlimited Password: TBA(will only be given out once player has paid his 1m buy-in).
NOTES:
A player list of players currently paid for next tourny will be posted here and updated as players pay the 1m buy-in. All tourneys will be a min of 6 players and a max of 9 players.
Host will not be taking any rake or making any money outside of what he wins just like everyone else. The host also like everyone else pays buy-ins.
Because of I have never used Torn poker tourneys or settings all rules and settings are subject to change based of what I think is best. If such changes aren`t possible because of the way Torn does poker we will likely switch too using PokerStars and setup a poker club in their (HOME GAMES section for us.). Which maybe a should do right off the bat as it has pretty much unlimited settings and anyone and everyone could play and setup games whenever they wish. But let`s try it Torn`s poker first to see how it all goes. If we do switch too PokerStars this will not require use of real money if we do. PokerStars does have play money HOME GAMES and almost endless settings for tourney`s and cash games.
Seats are first paid first served. Only 9 seats max every Sunday.

As I`m sure I didn`t cover everything or every possible concern or question players my have those interested can PM, chat or post questions here or just send your 1m too me via trade. Gonna aim for starting the first tounry next Sunday if I get enough interest. If I don't get enough interest for this week as Sunday is tomorrow any money sent will be sent back. Unless you wanna keep your seat for next week.
Probably already has been mentioned in the past no doubt( I did a forum search but didn't find much) so sorry if you have seen this before. Anyway was always curious why the Bazaar doesn't come with a vault or have a vault upgrade you can purchase? So that's why suggestion. Add a vault to Bazaar's or allow us to purchase a vault upgrade for our Bazaar.
Have always found TORN Blackjack to be rigged and terrible in my experience.
Best gambling to profit on in TORN(not in any order) Poker, Bookie, the Wheels and I have heard RR but haven't bothered with that yet. Playing anything else in the Casino and you're just giving your money away.
No problem Dom happy too help. I see many younger players have trouble keeping their money and losing it muggings alot. Most the time though in my opinion and experience it's 100% preventable. If it isn't there certainly is no reason they should be getting large amounts unless they are very very lucky or it's a setup like a buy/mug situation of similar.
Even when guys sell points(which is a know mugging hotbed) they should have no worries about being mugged. Just put the points on the market then travel. They'll likely sell when you're in the air. Again fire up the laptop and bam moneys safe.
If you know what you're doing(specially at the first two) at each stick to poker, bookie, the wheels and RR.
The rest of the casino is nothing but a scam and an endless money pit.
As someone who's played tons of blackjack at real life casino's over the years and knows how to play and make money at it short/long term Torn's blackjack doesn't even compare. Terrible shuffling/dealing software.
EDIT: You're 100% right about the "martingale method". I watched a few guys go completely broke using it. Its sad and very painful to watch in real life.
Way to easy to avoid being mugged. Have two windows/tabs open. Poker and the travel window or vault or whatever safe place you store money. You'll need to buy a laptop if you travel and like keeping your money safe using stocks. Once in the air fire the laptop up and go to stock market. I usually take a short flight too mexico and bank(buy stock) with most the money except enough to buy stuff in Mexico while I'm there.
Now you gotta be fairly quick. Leave table, switch tabs and click travel or bank or whatever you use to keep money safe and you're done. You being mugged and losing money is your own fault. There no reason you need to be mugged and lose money at all unless the guy is very lucky and hits you just at the right time.
FWIW I never carry big sums of money or hardly any money on me ever. When I do have money on me it's gone or spent or whatever in less then 5-10 seconds. So unless someone hits me in those 5-10 seconds I lose almost nothing.
And when you first sit at the table don't carry extra money or have any money on you at all except what's on the table.
As an huge online cash/tourny player on real moneys sites for 10+ years now Torn's new poker is pretty solid and reasonable right now certainly a million times better then the old poker. Agree about the positional bugs and the blind bugs Stubbs speaks of. Also haven't played much the last week or so but poker score still wasn't working before that. IT really just a bunch of small little bugs.issues that mostly have already been reported else where so I'm sure you guys know most the small little issues. Also agree about the wide buy margins. What you guys have is plenty acceptable already long as you keep working on the little bugs/issues. They don't make it unplayable.
A few refinement/things not needed ASAP.........................
1) Clock countdown between each hand could easily be cut in half to about 5 seconds or gotten rid of all together as I don't understand it's purpose and on all sites I have played at they don't have it. The next hand happens instantly. .
2) Making people wanna/need too play poker. Better or more game benefits/merits whatever for playing. Maybe weekly or daily schedule tourny's that are scored or you're given points based on position finished ? Seems we need some incentive for people to play a bit more.
3) Not sure this one's possible but the best feature of the old Torn poker was being able to create tables and Tournys yourself. If possible this would be a great add down the road. Maybe not possible with the new version though. I'm not software programmer so no idea.
4) Different table/card themes. Front and back for the cards.
5) Different or more bet sizing options buttons. 1/3 pot and half pot for example.
I know there's tons more of refinements and features you can add but can't remember them all off the top of my head and I'm sure someone else will mention others. FWIW it'd be a great idea if one of the staff member downloaded Pokerstars or 888 poker and created an account. That way you guys could see all the great features you could be adding first hand for yourself's and what they look like. You might even find some playing refinements or other things you guys personally would like too add.
Opening an account is free. And FWIW Pokerstars is the site I'd use and look at as it's the biggest and best site software, looks wise, feature wise and overall software wise and by far and away the most players play there. No other site is even close. There shuffle software random number/card generator or whatever it's technically called thought is worst I have ever seen in any site I have played at. As others have said train your stats, carry little to no money on ya, travel more and smile every time he waste his energy attacking and getting nothing. Personally a lmfao every time someone mugs me and gets either $0 or pretty much nothing. I never carry hardly any money around and when I do have some money on me it's only for a few seconds and it's either spent or stored away safe. Sooner or later he'll get bored and leave you alone or you'll catch up to him in stats and pay back will be a bitch. As it always is.
In my experience avoid the following: Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Keno.
Play the wheels, poker, bookie(helps if you really know a sport or sports well) and RR. They offer the best chance and value.
One last tip no matter what you decide to gamble on or bet on......bet or gamble within your means or budget. This here will at least make sure you don't go completely broke.
That's the very last thing the new poker needs now that it seems to be a few more people playing now. Adding that back will only kill the amount of players playing.
Needs the lag, bugs and other issues fixed before anything. Then could use more table themes and card themes/colors added. Then make it possible for players to create their tables and stakes. Tournys are still missing not that many played tournys or poker in the first place but they lead the next idea/need as they can be used to make a poker rank/standings for players.
More merits, poker standings or a ranking system to help create more interest and get more people playing poker wouldn't be a bad thing either.
If you had a PI you could just have two windows(travel and poker) open and be 1 click away from safety when you wanted too cash out. Just make sure to leave the table first before flying(but be quick). Once in the air fire up the laptop and buy stocks(buy a stock in high demand) put it up for sale right away(that gives ya 24 hours) once it sells. Don't use all your money to buy stock you're gonna want some to buy plushies/flowers or whatever when you land.
As suggested above mug protection is a good way as well.
Can't say I completely agree on the first point. Yes I can agree poker can be time consuming but if you actually know how too play there is way way way more easy money too make playing poker and most the time a lot quicker then travelling/trading. So what's in poker to gain boat loads of cash. It's honestly not really hard to take peoples fake money that they mostly don't really care about. If anyone wants a challenge sit down in real life and try to take people's real money. Now that requires a lot more time, concentration and a talent to actually really read people.
Agree completely poker does lacks a sense of community or a real following for lack of a better term and words. Like your ideas about more merits, TORN wide tournys and hell maybe TORN staff can even come with a poker ranking/standings to help make poker more meaningful.
Yeah the old TORN poker was a hot mess and really not worth playing.
Yeah I don't play on mobile so know nothing about the bugs or the playing experience on mobile but can imagine the cards are almost impossible to see on mobile as they are pretty hard to see on PC unless in full screen or even just clicking pop-out button helps a ton with the card size.
Never tried the chat window the other night but after just checking it out right now TORN staff should really consider resizing it or just doing it different as when it's up it mostly blocks the action buttons. But I'm sure they'll fine tune things and get the bugs out as we go. I'm just tankful to have a much better working and more functional poker now.
Tried for a bit last night and as a guy who's played online/live poker for the last 15+ years on every major online site there is TORN's v2 poker is 1000 times better then the old version. Still a few bugs too work out of course(that's why it's called beta). But even in beta it's so much better. In fact the old poker was so bad I rarely ever bothered playing it and I love poker.
Bigger cards/numbers are needed for sure specially for the mobile/phone players and different color backs(red/blue) for the cards would be helpful as well. Those are two of the biggest issues/bugs I have seen so far. And I'm sure TORN staff will fix them rather quickly.
In the other thread a few didn't seem too impressed(bugs aside). Not sure what they expected really as there is only so much you can do with poker in terms of looks and stuff like that. I mean if Torn staff add a few different table themes, different cards colors, maybe a bet slider there isn't a whole lot you can do with poker. The big things is having it auto deal, a fair shuffle, sit-out button for players and having it function like Texas Holdem is suppose too when it comes to position and such.
FWIW re:sitting out players. All major online sites(cash games) handle them by allowing them to stay for 3 rounds/blinds around the table then they auto boot them from the table. Not sure how easy this is or would be to code for TORN poker.
In Tourny''s when they sit they obviously have to pay the blinds and any ante until they return or are blinded/anted outta chips.
Anyway we can be able to create tables of our own again like in poker v1 only in v2 with all the new features? Or can we can that added too poker v2? After we all get the bugs sorted out of course.

Not sure what some expected but as a guy who's played online poker for the last 10-15 years and counting at numerous sites(UB, Pokerstars, 888 poker, Party Poker and the list goes on and on for real money there's really only so much you can do with poker. Auto starting games and auto call/check/fold are really big deals too have for online poker games. TORN Poker just improved a million times over what the old one was. I would barely even play the old TORN Poker. Just too dam painful and slow.
Coming back from rehab can't wait too jump on a table and checkout the new TORN Poker.

It's not always about the money. I'd knock out 50 trips too all of the closest places first(Canada, Mexico and CI) that's 3 merits. Plushies and flowers are what you wanna be buying for them 3 places. Hopefully you can get 3-5 trips in a day too the closer places.
Then if you're not bored or travelling work your out in travel times doing 50 trips to each place for merits.
