Recently there has been an issue that has come to my (and many of my faction member's) attention. This has been the common practice of revive undercutting via trade chat.
As many of you may know, reviving is a business practice for many players in the community, and many individuals, as well as factions, have devoted themselves to reviving players for payment. Important factions such as 39th Street Healers, Torn Medical, and HeLa, rely on the practice of paid revive contracts for sustenance. These contracts are beneficial to both the recipients and providers and are an honest trade practice within Torn.
I am sure that many non-revivers are aware that those who revive for a living are some of the kinder folk on Torn City, and devote their energy to healing rather than to killing. Revivers are honest players trying to make a living off of a fantastic game mechanic.
As I am sure many of you have observed, it is common for revives to be set at a price of 1 Xanax, or somewhere in between $800,000-$1,000,000.
This price was created due to it being economical, and to compensate for the energy lost by revivers in their noble pursuit to heal.
Many players have recently been undercutting this price, offering revives at 500k or even as low as 100k. This severely damages the economic prospect of revives and will disincentivize full-time revivers from offering a service. Players who do this are often not full-time revivers and do not understand the consequences that this undercutting may have.
The revive market is tough as it is, and we don't need careless players making it even tougher. Revivers of Torn, unite under this thread against undercutters who make our livelihoods more difficult.
Especially considering the extreme amount of dishonesty that comes with reviving, and the number of scams that occur, please help our revivers. Don't undercut.
Edit: if you are revived for free, never feel the need to pay. Only pay when you ask for a revive and agree on a price. This is referring to the trade of revives only
Edit 2: Thanks for the feedback everyone
Set of rules for revivers: 1. Don't undercut other revivers. 2. DON'T revive people who intentionally hosped themselves 3. Don't revive without asking and demand payment 4. Agree on a price before reviving
As always, selling revives for 1M or a Xanax :) -Boi
I had this pretty cool idea that I decided to share with everyone...
Wouldn't it be pretty cool if we had some sort of elected system of government within Torn? Essentially, you could cast your vote for any individual from the Torn City town hall once per month, and a new body of officials would be elected. These officials would have certain powers based on their rank, and for the few people who have roles, this could be a source of income. If it develops enough, being a Torn City politician could be an actual job that you could have with certain perks.
To clarify, these would NOT be staff ranks, and if a player is elected their status would not change from "Civilian" or whatever it is for them. It would just be a new job.
Specific Ideas I had originally thought that there could be a five rank tier system: The fifth, and lowest rank: TC Secretary (100 spots) The fourth rank: TC Municipal (50 spots) The third rank: TC Judge (25 spots) The second rank: TC Governor (10 spots) The first rank TC Mayor (1 spot)
These roles would have individual powers based on tier. They would essentially be the equivalent of job passives. Some ideas for these powers are:
- Decreased travel time (due to private government airplanes)
- Ability to earn money abroad by negotiating with foreign officials
- Ability to arrest
- Ability to bail for a lower price
- Ability to bounty for less of a cost
- Bounty/stat reveals
- Increased interest rates
These are just some of my ideas, feel free to provide some of your own. Obviously, the higher your rank the better your pay, job point outcome, and amount of passives.
The possibilities are endless, and I think that this would be an awesome addition to the game. People would run major campaigns, posting ads and paying people to vote for them. The voting might be corrupt, but hey... It's a crime game!!! If you have suggestions and further ideas, or just support the concept that I've come up with, please let me know.
I spun the wheel of awesome for 1,000,000 which is a lot for a newer player. However, as soon as I landed on 25 points, I heard the little bell and got hospitalized at the same exact time (not by Leslie) but by someone claiming my bounty. I didn't get the points. . . very confused. . . please help
When your on your way up, don't take the highway down. Once you hit the ground, we"ll find a way to survive somehow... Bring me all the pills right now, and the most drinks you can serve. Pop a xanax while i sip this down, anything just calm my nerves.
If you are saying that players with more experience on the game who are well known can get away with breaking rules, you are wrong. Kapten_Klitoris. nuff said
Okay I mentioned the perks above in the thread if you read the whole thing. Also, there could be some kind of good citizen bonus for voting. You’d want your friends to have the positions. I believe that there would be no cost for voting, so people would do it at no loss. Candidates would likely pay people to vote for them, so the rewards would come naturally.
Perhaps voting would give you a karma boost? I would imagine that there would be 10 or so perks total, and that the higher your rank the more perks you would have.

Hey, I agree with most of what this guy is saying. This is what the forums are for - discussion of important topics, spread of ideas, and a lot of roasting. I’m okay with getting roasted, because I’m glad that people saw my message.
