Ah it's that time of year again. Christmas Town has come and passed, my stash of cans and alcohol has multiplied in value by no small margin, and Massacre Day is just a month and a half away.
To those who don't know me, my name is Elizabeth, and for the past few years, I've done a cans giveaway shortly after Christmas Town, giving away all the cans I earned from CT, as well as any stragglers I may have received throughout the year that I didn't use.
In the past, I've changed how entry works most years, with voting in/out people, buy in with LSD, etc etc. This year, we're keeping it simple. All you gotta do is respond to this thread and you're entered to win. The change this year is that it will be both cans and all the alcohol I've stockpiled for the last six and a half years. The pot is as follows:
14x Crocozade
22x Damp Valley
15x Goose Juice
2x Munster
4x Red Cow
16x Rudolph
22x Santa Shooters
15x X-MASS
60x Champagne
14x Christmas Cocktail
2x Christmas Spirit
45x Kandy Kane
12x Minty Mayhem
25x Mistletoe Madness
22x Pumpkin Brew
18x Sake
8x Swamp Punch
17x Tequila
And a whopping 1396x Bottles of Beer
Clarification: One winner. Full pot.
I can't be bothered to do the math on the value for all that. It's a bunch. Entries will end 23:59:59 TCT on 31/01/2026. That's just shy of a month to enter, plenty of time this year. The drawing will occur either February 2nd or 3rd, I haven't decided yet.
Hope you all enjoy, and may the odds yadda yadda yadda
What a year this has been! To those who are new here or haven't participated in the past, my name is Elizabeth and I have a tradition of doing a raffle to giveaway all the cans that I earned in Christmas Town. However, unfortunately, due to the nature of my real life career field, I did not have much free time and was not able to participate in Christmas Town this year... But that won't stop me! This year, I've acquired 25 6-packs of energy drinks and one lucky winner will win all 25 cases. To put that into perspective, that's the equivalent of 12.5 dozen cans (or 150 cans), valued at anywhere between 210m (if, by some terrible twist of fate you were to get only Santa Shooters) and 520m (if they were to all be Taurine Elite).
"Elizabeth! How do I enter this raffle?!?"
It's quite simple. Just respond to this thread! Only one entry per person though this year
"What if I respond multiple time? Can I pull some witchcraft trickery??"
Nope, no trickery here. You can respond as many times as you like, but each person's name will only be put in the pot once.
"Are there any other ways to enter? Or ways to increase my chances?"
Responding to this thread is the only way to enter and will only ever give you one entry.
"When does the drawing happen?"
Two weeks from now, on January 15th, 2025 at 18:00 TCT (13:00 EST for those in the America's)
The giveaway has ended I'm afraid! Congrats to our winner pomatias [2696490]!
Hey there everyone! I just recently finished my previous can giveaway and I still have 54 cans left. Originally, I was gonna save em for caffeine-con to try and turn some profit, but I decided to just do another giveaway on em. The cans I have left are as follows:
8x cans of Damp Valley
5x cans of Goose Juice
1x can of Red Cow
10x cans of Rockstar Rudolph
16x cans of Santa Shooters
14x cans of X-MASS
For this giveaway, there will be no entry fee and there will be only one winner taking home the lot.
Estimated value as of posting this is just shy of 105m.
Simply responding to this thread will put you in the pool for a chance to win, however, to spice things up a bit, in your response, you have two options. You can add any player to the pool that you want OR you can subtract any player from the pool. If you add someone that's already in the pool, you increase their chances by one, and it can be yourself. Subtracting someone with multiple chances will only decrease their chances, not completely remove them. That being said, chances can go into the negatives, for those that truly want to make someone suffer.
CLARIFICATION: YOU CAN ONLY ADD/SUBTRACT ONE PLAYER
If you want to add, post the name and UID of the player, followed by +1. To subtract, do the same, but -1. YOU MUST INCLUDE THE UID
Example posts:
TheUltimateSalt: TheUltimateSalt [2171375] +1
TheUltimateSalt's chances are now 2.
Ohadik: TheUltimateSalt [2171375] -1
Ohadik's and TheUltimateSalt's chances are now both 1.
Andyman: realistassasin [1598729] -1
Andyman's chances are 1, realistassasin's chances are -1.
You can only post once, so no spam entries. Votes for fedded accounts or players that have been inactive for more than three days will not be considered.
Entries will end on April 3rd at 00:00:00 TCT (that is Sunday morning at midnight).
Oh baby, it's New Years, and just like last year, I'm giving away all the cans I've accrued and held onto. Most of these are from CT, of course, and since we're still freshly out of CT, I'd recommend whoever wins to either use them or save them until CaffeineCon to sell them.
This years lineup of a hundred cans is as follows:
5e:
12x Can of Goose Juice
10e:
15x Can of Damp Valley
15e:
18x Can of Crocozade
20e:
3x Can of Munster
15x Can of Santa Shooters
25e:
16x Can of Rockstar Rudolph
30e:
2x Can of Taurine Elite
19x Can of X-MASS
The total value of which (at the time of posting) should be equal to just shy of $175m in cans! If my math is wrong, please do let me know.
Not unlike last year, you can enter up to 10 times per person. Just send 1-10 LSD, depending on how many entries you want, with the message "Cans" to me, and you'll be entered! (Please don't spam me with one LSD ten times, I will not enter you into the raffle if you spam my events)
Entries will close on January 15th, at 00:00:00TCT (so Saturday night, Sunday morning), and the winner will be announced by end of day on the 15th.
Do not mistake me disagreeing with something for me not reading it.
Perhaps the implication was a bit too subtle for you, so let me make it perfectly clear. Regardless of what the proposed "main issue" is, the suggestion and outcome are the same as every other time this has been suggested: Faction members able to withdraw their funds at will without needing a banker or leader to facilitate. Whether the goal is to make it easier on the faction members or on the bankers and leaders, doesn't matter, the outcome is the same. As I said before, Ched has made it very clear he's far more keen on making keeping your money safe more difficult, not easier. This suggestion, again, regardless of the intent, would be counterproductive, even if you impose limits.
You are completely and entirely correct! Change is needed to curb them being used as such. I'm so glad we agree on this. Unfortunately for you, and most faction members, the way to curb it is to make it more difficult for faction members to track and get their money from the faction vault. It would mean the total removal of balances (back to the way it was when I started). It could also mean the complete removal of the banker role, leaving only the faction leader(s) to have access to the vault. I could be down for that. Can you say the same?
Now, in order to just make sure I'm not giving you the impression that I'm "ignoring something because I can't disagree with it", I'm just gonna make sure I touch on every single point you've made here, because that's apparently necessary for you.
I feel like you just skimmed through and didn’t actually read everything being said. Because the main issue is not accessibility to faction members, it’s availability for leadership roles in factions
Check, addressed that.
If factions were never meant to be used as banks then change is needed to curb the trend of them being used as such.
Check, addressed that.
both me and the original poster also had made a counter suggestion about adding individual limits to limit how much one individual can store in the faction vault. But you completely ignored that part because you couldn’t disagree with it and shoot it down.
Yeah, so a reviver centric company is on the docket for the Co2.0 update that will... eventually happen. Ched has confirmed that a reviver based company will exist in [THIS] thread. As for what it will look like, who's to say?
Now, as for the actual suggestion, first and foremost, please stop using AI to write your posts. Do it yourself.
1* - Several items for the price of 2jp's is a lot. I would think it'd be one singular item per trade, but perhaps only 1jp per.
3*- Sure, but seems just a touch strong for a 3*
5* - It's fine, but I always worry about terminal perks. What that means is that after a certain point (in this case, revive skill level 100), the perk is just completely useless. It provides zero benefit after revive skill 100, so... I'd either make that a lower tier or change it to be something lasting.
7* - Sure, though it also seems like a lower tier. Perhaps swap this and the 3*
10* - Nope. Problem being that this, along with all revive reduction perks from a faction and Love Juice during Massacre Day makes reviving cost 0, and even if you hard cap it at 5, you're just gonna get a lot of unhappy campers. This one needs changing entirely. Perhaps a boost to revive chance.
I think the rest of what ChatGPT came up with is fine, nothing super novel or anything, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
If I had to guess why you can't sell upgraded cars, I'd say it's probably because the upgrades you have on a car are, in part, a display of your victories in racing. If you could buy a car with upgrades in it already, then brand new racers could already have the best possible cars without ever having to actually earn them, making lower ranks and such trivial, pay to win races.
First, Torn takes deaths very seriously. They are confirmed through obituaries, if I remember correctly.
As for a Will in Torn, sure, it'd be an endearing change. I imagine though that the people who really really care about that kind of thing and are worried about their passing enough to have a will of some form already do something to ensure their stuff goes somewhere. I've personally considered putting it in my own will irl (if I'm still playing into older age), my family already knows how important this game is to me so in the event that something happens unexpectedly, they know I'd want my stuff to be given away, and some people have the opportunity to give their stuff away before their passing, like roadhousee did o7.
I can certainly understand the frustration with getting wars that are outside your selected time, but you have to remember that depending on your rank and how the matchmaking system matches you, it may be that it comes down to a decision between giving you a better matched fight but outside your selected time or giving you the time you want, but getting a very lopsided fight.
Looking at your last six ranked wars, four of them were pretty handily won by your faction, and the other two were losses, one of which looks termed, the other of which your opponent smoked you with about half the membership. In all of these wars, you had a pretty good handful of people that were basically inconsequential. If I had to guess, the match up you currently have pending against Impurity was likely a result of your last few wars being to easy, artificially inflating your elo. Especially considering how little of a fight most of your opponents put up. I would be willing to bet that a far better solution to the matchmaking "issue" is if people actually fight their wars instead of terming or rolling over.
I have no idea how the system determines that, but I can tell just by looking at em. I severely doubt anyone from the development team would ever share how the system decides whether a war was termed or not, as that would essentially just be giving factions a step by step guide on how to circumvent it while still min-maxing the rewards.
Took a look at your last 8 ranked war wins, and it's painfully obvious that many of them are termed wars, with only two of them looking like they weren't, and only because your opponents got absolutely steamrolled. I'd be willing to bet that has something to do with the lack of ranking up.
Well, I certainly appreciate that you're the type of director to do your research before reaching out instead of spamming anything that moves with hiring ads.
Unfortunately, most directors are not this way, and I imagine that even if this did become a thing, it would largely still be ignored by most. Plus, it doesn't sound like Ched is super enthusiastic about adding more icons unless they're actually important things.
Ladies and gentlemen, we can retire now. We've come full circle.
This used to be how OC's worked in OC1.0. Part of the trouble is that it basically turns OC's into a leadership exclusive task, and most regular faction members are just going to view OC's as a hindrance to their flying schedule that occasionally pays out with a cool chunk of cash. It's better this way, trust me.
No, we really don't. You want something to buff the gold laptop, but to call it a need is a bit egregious.
Extra reduction in virus creating time
This is the only reasonable suggestion for buffing it that you make.
How hard would it be to set up a laptop on a plane to play some online poker while you fly?
Not hard at all! But it's also not gonna happen. It's been asked for an ungodly amount of times, and Ched has already stated that flying is intentionally boring.
but cracking(?) Has you put in components to 'build a computer'.
Ah yes, my favourite custom built PC component: an external laptop. It's possible, sure, but I can't imagine what benefit an external laptop would provide that integral components wouldn't be able to provide.
All in all, I think you summed it up perfectly already. It's a super expensive trophy. And that's okay.
Being locked out of actual gameplay is an intended effect of traveling. Fortunately, this gives you a wonderful opportunity to do something else, like read a book, go for a walk, play a different game, learn/practice a skill, take a coffee dump, or even do surgery on a grape. Whatever you choose to do, I hope it's productive and enjoyable.
Australia has been requested several times, and I'd be willing to bet it's part of the currently in development T2.0 update. It wouldn't add 2 plushies, since I don't think any country has two plushies or two flowers, but one plushie and a flower, sure.
This is already confirmed for T2.0
Nope. Travel is intended to lock you out of core game mechanics, including training.
This has been suggested a small handful of times and I still think it'd be neat. I don't think the crash costing you energy would be wise, but perhaps the airlift back to Torn would be a lengthy one that drops you in the hospital for a while.
Again, I'd be willing to bet this is already going to be part of a future phase of T2.0. Based on phase 2, I'd assume either phase 3 or 4 will include the ability to bring things with you.
Of course any additional countries would come with their own merit. I imagine the name for the merit would be called "Men at Work" (though Hot Fuzz does my favourite cover of that song, personally)
Weapons and armour:
Um... That sounds like an incredibly involved and complicated addition to Torn that would be very difficult to balance and would completely throw off the turn based combat system.
Great.
Properties
Eh, sure, a 5% boost to, at most, 5 nerve from Green or Spirit basically just means that all alcohol has a small chance of giving +1 nerve, which is completely fine. The candy boost is also largely inconsequential, since at a certain point, candy isn't where people are getting their happiness. I think this would be completely fine, if slightly underused.
