UPDATE: This guide was updated for the new stats cap on May 5th, 2023
UPDATE 2: If you find difficult to achieve this honor, I can provide individual coaching, on a pay-what-you-want basis. I will tell you exactly what do do. Just contact me.
How to get the NICE honor
The requirements for the NICE honor are a bit weird:
- Your battle stats (STR, DEF, SPD, DEX) must contain 5 times either a 69, or a 420 (let's call them "nice numbers")
- Both the 69 and the 420 must be present at least once
- The digits after the decimal point are not taken into account
It is not required that every single stat contains a nice number. However, it is easier if they do.
The more digits we have, the easier it is to get the nice numbers in. I recomment to start when all your battle stats are at least 100,000 or even better 1,000,000.
The hardest parts are:
- Since we have 4 stats, and we need 5 nice numbers, at least one of the stats must contain two nice numbers
- The 420 is harder to place, since it requires 3 digits, while the 69 requires only 2
There are two ways to solve these two problems:
a) Get a 420 and a 69 in a single battle stat; then, it will be easy to get one 69 in each of the other stats
b) Get a 420 in one stat, then get two 69 in another, then get a 69 in each of the other
So, let's make an example. Say our stats are like this:
STR 350,884
DEF 680,324
SPD 520,333
DEX 177,142
I would try to do, for instance:
STR 420,69x
DEF 69x,xxx
SPD xxx,69x
DEX xxx,x69
Alternatively, if we fail getting the required STR, we can change like this:
STR 420,xxx
DEF 69x,69x
But how do we get exactly the required increment? We need to use Vladar's calculator. It operates on one stat at a time, which is exactly what we need.
The original sheet calculates the stat gains based on the old stat value and some other parameters. I made a small change to it, so that it also shows the new stat value. You can find the patched calculator here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DOPyRZh1mNQaiaWW-KXBv_cE2d1xzSnwRMa7DciotMA/edit?usp=sharing
You cannot edit this file, you need to make a copy to use it.
For an example, let's try to get the STR to 420,69x. Here are the steps:
1) Go close to 420,000 with normal training (this may require days)
2) Open the calculator
3) Enter the perks in the column F
4) Enter your typical happy in column G
5) Enter the current value of your battle stat in column H
In order to avoid rounding errors, I recommend entering the EXACT stat value, which may include decimals. This is especially necessary if you want to go for xxx
Please note, the gym view in the game always rounds down, while the calculator rounds for precision. So, if your correct stat is 123,456.78, Torn city gym will display 123,456. In the calculator you should paste the exact value 123,456.78 (more on that later), but you will see 123,457 because it is rounded up (since 0.78 is greater than 0.5).
How do you get the exact decimal value? You have to look at the latest event in your event log. It will be something like:
07:21:13 - 11/11/2020 You used 5 energy and 3 happiness training your defense in Global Gym increasing it by 138.32 to 123,456.78
The precise stat value is 123,456.78: you have to copy it in the calculator.
Now it comes to the hardest part: you have to experiment with the various gyms you have available, with different energy spendings, until you go close to one of the desired values.
Let's say that, for instance, with a certain energy spent on a certain gym you reach the value 420,688. This is not enough: we want to reach at least 420,690; even better, to avoid rounding problems, we should aim for 420,695, in order to be able to tolerate errors.
The key here is increasing the happy. If, for instance, your base happy is 5025, try to increase it in the calculator until the projected new stat value is 420,695. Then, see if it is feasible to increase your happy to the desired value. If it is, for instance, 6000, you can easily reach it with cheap candies. If it is higher, you might use expensive candies, DVDs, ecstasy.
Once you have planned all the details, you can take action. Get your happy at the desired level at the beginning of the 15-minutes mark, select the desired gym, choose how many trainings to perform and GO.
A few caveats:
a) If you are a recruit in your faction (i.e. you have a green faction icon because you joined it since less than 3 days) the perks are not active. In position F2 you would then enter 0. But beware, if you plan while you are a recruit, and before taking action you become a regular member, it won't work well.
b) Remember that Xanax also gives a happy boost of 75. This usually helps you, but if you forget taking into account it may ruin your efforts.
c) If you are going for a nice number at the end, like in xxx,x69, the rounding may cause problems. When the calculator shows xxx,x69 as the outcome, take the initial stat value with decimals, the projected gains with decimals and sum them manually using a calculator (or writing the calculation in Google). You want the result to be close to xxx,x69.5, which will keep you safe.
If you try this guide, let me know. I would especially like to know if you encounter problems: in this case, I will update the guide.

When I send an extension offer, I normally send a chat message to the tenant. I would like that when I open the page of a property (for instance https://www.torn.com/properties.php#/p=options&ID=4199658 ), the private chat of the tenants opens automatically. Then I would manually type or copy some text into the chat.
How do I open, and close, the chatbox with a specific user?

This returns only one line, both in v1 and v2:
https://api.torn.com/v2/user/?selections=log&key=***&log=5943
https://api.torn.com/user/?selections=log&key=***&log=5943
The problem is only in the API. This returns many lines:
https://www.torn.com/page.php?sid=log&log=5943
This happens for both 5937 and 5943.
How do we get more than 100 log entries? It is not as trivial as it seems. I can see different ways, none is perfect. At the end, I will propose a solution to this issue.
I will analize the options, assuming that we want 200 entries. Ideally, we would like to get entries 1-100 and 101-200 in 2 calls.
1. Start from the older timestamp
The most obvious way is by using timestamp: we get 100 items, then we query again setting the "to" to the oldest timestamp found in the previous call.
The problem is that we will get a duplicate event, since last event of the first call is the first of the second. The first call will return entries 1-100, the second 100-199. Entry 200 is never returned, entry 100 is returned twice.
2. Start from the older timestamp, and manually skip duplicates
This gives the correct results. Like in previous method, we get 100 items, then we query again setting the "to" to the oldest timestamp found in the previous call. The difference is that we saved the event id of the 100th event, and when we receive the first entry of the second query, we ignore it. First call gets records 1-100, second gets 101-199 (one entry is lost).
While this method may return the correct answer, it is complex, and I suspect not many coders use this. Also, we waste a bit by returning the same entry twice.
3. Start from the older timestamp, minus 1
We get 100 items, then we query again setting the "to" to the oldest timestamp found in the previous call, minus 1.
The problem is that, if the 100th and 101th event happened in the same second (in some cases, like "item bought from my bazaar" it is possible), the event 101 may never be returned. We get events 1-100 and 102-201.
This is a very unpleasant situation when coding: a program "almost works", except in very rare cases. By experience, I know that these kind of issues produce bugs that are very hard to find, and cost many hours to fix.
Proposed solution
Add a new parameter to the v2 /user/log API call: last_event_id.
It should be set with the last event id returned by the previous call, and would indicate that the new query is a continuation. The new query would only return records with event_id strictly lower than last_event_id.
This avoids all kinds of duplicates, and would prevent many headaches to coders.
I am working on a script to manage properties rental, starting from IceBlueFire's EasyRental.
I want to get, from API v2.0, the list of my properties, to manage.
https://api.torn.com/user/?selections=properties&key=***
If I understand correctly, the list will include my spouse's properties. One way would be to obtain my player ID via a different API call, and compare it with properties.owner.id.
Is there a way to see whether a property is mine, or my spouse's, without any other API call?
Yes, I know I can use "?selections=profile, properties" and get my player ID and my list of properties in the same call, but I am asking for an alternative that only uses data from the above API call.
Yes, I could. I would steal about 545m, which is 0.5% of my networth.
But then, the information would spread, and nobody would trust me as a landlord, or as a trader. I don't think it would be worth it.

I understand what you are saying, the difference between 3-months and 2-years is steep. In the real world, it would be predatory and excessive.
But in Torn, ROI are much higher, Duke charges 2.5%/week for loans. The price paid includes both the cost of the PI, and the interests. i calculated the installments based on a rate that is much lower than Duke's.
The 3-months deal is great, if you can afford it. But in order to allow most players to buy their own PI, I offer longer contracts as an alternative.
I am also quite flexible if a player cannot pay a few installments, provided they communicate clearly: I offer different kind of contract pauses based on needs. This may encourage players to go for shorter contracts, which are cheaper for them and easier to handle for me.
Since my earliest days in Torn, a very reliable trader.
