I think it would awesome if Torn City Raceway had a spectators section where people could place bets! Races would each have their own code so that friends could watch and bet on each others races! who knows maybe even put in a real life gambling system for those serious folk!
*Edit* I'm talking about official races, something that we as players don't have to organize, perhaps there would be bookkeeper at the casino to take bets on all the different classed races and a TV you can watch it on (if you want to watch it that is), and there would be race codes if you wanted to bet on your friends if not you can just bet on random races

- bobdawildman - I really like this idea, but the racing system would have to change a bit in order to prevent manipulation. There would have to be a time where cars are locked in, and odds are generated and bets opened after that point. So maybe racers have the first 30 minutes to select their car, then bets open for the 30 minutes before the race of course this wouldn't take into account if people leave the race. Maybe if someone abandons the race after the lock in period, then the betting would be cancelled and all placed bets are refunded.
- Sikotiq - Maybe if you drop out of a race, then everyone who bet on you automatically loses their money. Those people would probably then bounty, mug, and/or harass you. That would definitely make you think twice about quitting a race.
- Alkatraz - Yes, I think that’s a great idea! Directors should also have the choice to sponsor a car for a popularity boost and so our racers could finally get paid

Maybe even add some graphics to it, now you have a list of cars participating, but with sponsored cars maybe there could be company banners next to it or stickers of some sort? Extra visuals to make the site betting more vibrant
- Asipu - What is missing are the podium prizes. In real life you have a bottle of bubbly, a cup and/or medal and bouquet of flowers! Writing the code to trigger prizes on official races is simple. But make the prizes identical for all the official tracks and different for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed.

Something like this would also track with the missions Duke gives that talk about gambling at the tracks, and how you shouldn't shoot the racers and stuff. (Not saying that attacks on racers should effect gambling odds, just me being a worldbuilding nerd)
Racers should get a portion of the money won from bets on them if they win.
Racer gets 1-5% of all money won on them if they win the race for instance.
To avoid manipulation betting races would need to be separate from official races for pts.

The money race would be locked for 24 hrs and racers would not be able to drop. This gives betters time to review racers, see upgrades and make an informed bet.

Good idea but I think the winning should go to the gamblers 100% BUT the money from all the losses could go to the win /place /show!
