Disclaimer Suggestion will not increase the number of payouts for inactive players.
Summary: Extend the window for claiming dividend payouts without delaying the next payout or increasing the number of unclaimed dividends, using one of the following proposed changes: A: Set max unclaimed dividends to 1, allow timer to continue ticking based on player's BB completion date. B: Set max unclaimed dividends to 1, server wide fixed dividend payout schedule. C: Set max unclaimed dividends to 1, server-centric schedule for MCS, player-centric schedule for all other stock BBs

Background: For the benefit of those who had yet to caught up on the news, the payouts timer stops if the payout is not claimed. The change was meant to prevent inactive players from getting a windfall each time they return from a long break. However, not everyone can log in daily and it's unfortunate that semi-active players may also see less payouts due to this change. The proposed changes is meant as a quality of life improvement to allow payouts to continue on schedule, even if the player is unable to log in on payout day.
Proposed changes: Allow the clock to continue countdown towards the next payout based on player's existing BB, even if payout is unclaimed. However, the maximum number of unclaimed payout for each BB at any time is set at 1, and cannot go above it. This change aims to extend the window that a player may claim their payout before their payout schedule is affected. Players will not be able to benefit from this while on long-term breaks of 2 months or more, due to the limit on unclaimed payouts per BB.
Rationale: Based on the current system, players unable to log in on payout day would see their next payout delayed. This can be disheartening in the long run, especially if they were unable to log in due to real life constraints. Extending the window would minimize the chances of that occurring. It also widens the benefit for players to swap any weekly dividend stocks with monthly equivalents if they need to go on breaks that last longer than a month.
The proposed system would be similar to energy / nerve bars, where the regen timer continues while the bar is full. Instead, nothing is added if the bar is filled and timer hits 0, so the player would essentially lose that payout.
Alternative: It may be concerning to some that these changes, if implemented, would allow high end players to stock up to 2 instance of MCS payout for wars or events. To mitigate this, dividends may be set to occur at fixed intervals across the server instead, with a minimum hold period of 1 week for weekly dividend, and 1 month for monthly (31-day) dividends, before payouts are active. Like the earlier method, the maximum number of unclaimed payout for each BB at any time is set at 1, and cannot go above it.
Rationale: While it does not resolve the concern directly, by standardizing the dividend window, it aims to turn the potential abuse into a known window of opportunity for wars to be declared with MCS as a weapon. Thus, to prevent being caught of guard, top-end players would need to keep a set of unclaimed MCS payout for strategic purposes.
What about player's who cannot afford 10 increments of MCS? Well I'm sorry to say that a faction which is able to spend 220 billion per player to get 10x MCS for that extra edge would likely roll over anyone unprepared for them anyway. The good news however, due to the exponential requirements for each increment, it's possible to match them with 5 increments of MCS, at just 6.7 billion per player. In any case, it would be a strategic concern that would not matter to most players currently.
Mixed alternative: Moving back to the alternative changes, it does come with a minor disadvantage where players who bought their monthly BB right after a dividend payout would have to wait much longer before the first dividend. That brings me to a mixed variation, where the alternative only applies to MCS.
All in all, any one of the proposed changes above would likely improve on the quality of life while keeping in-line with the rationale behind the changes made in stock 3.0. Do vote below on your preferred changes (or none), because why not?
Had to spend a lot more effort in managing med cd and spreading hits out this year as compared to 2020. Considering hosp time got reduced as well, there's also a higher need to check back every few hours.
Players less than 1 year old would be the most affected though, they pretty much get jumped on instantly when the team is targeted. A good number of them claimed that they max cd early into elims before they could do much hits. While it's still possible for them to contribute, the changes had raised the learning curve and demanded more time for them to do so effectively.
Overall the changes remains positive for the majority of elim participants, but the shift in playstyle that came from it had pushed the negatives onto newbies. It's unlikely I would find eliminations enjoyable had the update been pushed a year earlier.
I've never try to avoid a hit intentionally by doing crimes, so the change would be more of an annoyance to me. While I would very much prefer having the option available, it probably got weaponized to negate hits at the tick during eliminations, so much that the hot-fix was deem necessary.
I do hope they would explore other options though. Failed crimes could form part of an attack log, and award the win to the attacker with the last valid hit instead. So people can go about their crimes unaffected for the most part.
For example: Attacker1 initiated an attack on Defender Attacker2 joined the attack on Defender Attacker1 hit Defender for 100 Defender hit Attacker1 for 0 Attacker2 hit Defender for 100 Defender burnt himself while setting a warehouse on fire Attacker2 has defeated Defender (+0.00)
This makes it somewhat more realistic, since a person may still attempt crimes while under attack.
Bonus hits provide flat respect and work differently from normal hits, so the flat respect should still be awarded. This will mitigate concerns of it being abused.
