Wouldn't it be fun if there were more specials days with nice bonuses during the year?
Here is some international days that are not yet in our calendar with possible bonuses they could give:
January 24th - International education day, courses started during this day will take X% shorter to complete.
March 20th - International happiness day, all ways to boost happiness are doubled.
March 30th - International day of zero waste, energy needed to search the dump is reduced to X.
April 6th - International day of sport for development and peace, gym gains are doubled.
July 30th - International day of friendship, mutually being in a friend's list (you have him and he have you) increase your max happiness for the day (the more friend you have the more happiness you gain).
December 4th - International day of banks, investments started during this day will have a small interest bonus.
That's all the possible interesting days I found for now. Others just lack in links with Torn or are already in the calendar.
Following my recent post in the General Discussion, since I’m not the kind of person to just complain and not do anything to solve the problems, here is what I suggest for the future of Torn’s judicial system.
The main problem here is that the power is all centralized into one group of people : staff and admins. What we need is to let the players actually have a chance to defend themself if they get wrongly accused of breaking the rules. These are the three important roles we need for a fair judicial system :
Judge : The one who applies the final decision based on EVIDENCE and not just a feeling will still be the staff. We can’t put the job of incriminating or exonerating the defendant in the hands of a random player as they simply do not possess the power to mess with bans, it has to be a staff member or an admin due to technical purposes. The judge has to take action based solely on the jury’s decision, they cannot decide that their opinion is above everything else and ignore the vote of the jury.
Prosecutor : This job will be left specifically to the staff member or admin who banned the player after the account has been flagged. The prosecutor must expose the evidence they found about the player being guilty and the clear reason why this player should be incriminated. To protect the prosecutor, they will remain anonymous to the defendant to avoid repercussions against the staff if the defendant is mad about his situation or final judgement like they are right now when we write a report.
Jury : This role will be fulfilled by you and me, the other random players. Each time someone appeals for their case because they think that they have been wrongfully banned, an amount of 13 random players aged of more than a year old in the game, active daily in the last week, not enlisted in any kind of faction war (so we don’t interfere in wars by requesting for a juror’s time), not affiliated with the defendant in any way like being part of the same faction or being in a friend list and who had not interacted with the defendant in the last 3 months. To ensure that no bribe is sent to corrupt the judgement of the jury, they will be unable to receive money nor items until they choose whether the defendant is guilty or not. In addition, the members of the jury will remain anonymous to both parties and to each other until the case is closed and they will not know of the name of the defendant. Their judgement will be only influenced by the evidence brought by each party. Once the case is over, for 3 months, the jury members also will not be able to receive direct cash transfer, item transfer or one sided trades from the defendant and his faction members/friends that would solely benefit the jury member as an after-case pay for voting in the favor of exonerating the defendant. And same goes for the staff, but we hope that if you possess this role it’s because you are trustworthy.
Now as for the procedure of the trial here is what would happen.
The account gets flagged and the staff decides that the player has indeed broken the rules
Option 1 : The player indeed broke the rules and apologizes, spends time in federal jail and gets out or not eventually, the procedure ends here. Option 2 : The staff made a mistake and the player appealed his case, we continue to point 3.
After the player clicked on “Appeal”, the jury is selected in the playerbase and the typical report interface as we know it switches to the court’s interface which would look like this : A box on the left side of the screen for evidence by the prosecutor and one on the right side for evidence by the defendant and both would have a text box at the bottom of the screen so they can add text and pictures in their respective evidence box. On the jury’s side, instead of the text box would be two buttons, one to vote in favor of the exoneration and one to vote against. On the judge’s side, they can only see the evidence boxes and will be able to see the result of the jury’s vote once the case is closed to do justice.
Each group, the defendant, jury and the prosecutor, can demand visual proof, if possible, of the reason behind claims of the two parties arguing.
Once the trial starts, the defendant and the prosecutor each have 24 hours to submit evidence before the jury can start voting, after the first day, evidence can still be submitted but the members of the jury can already make a decision regardless of if the two parties want to show some more proof of their claims. The votes of the jury won’t be shown until the case is over. A juror can switch their vote if the case is still open.
After the first day, the jury has 48 hours to vote for exoneration or incrimination. If a member of the jury has still not voted in the remaining 6 hours, all their actions will be frozen until they make a decision, as it is a citizen’s duty to be part of the jury, if the juror still has voted after the 48 hours period ends, his voice will simply not count towards the final decision.
Once the 48 hours delay is over or once all 13 jurors have voted, the case is closed and the decision of the jury is shown. The judge must then apply the jury’s decision, the majority of the votes win. If there is a pair number of votes because a juror has not voted in the 48 hours delay and the result of the vote is a tie, it is the judge who will decide if the defendant is guilty or innocent.
This might look a bit excessive, but we can trust in the staff to make the good decisions so we do not have to go through all of this each time a player is banned. I don’t think this kind of situation will happen often if the staff takes time to analyze each case before using the ban hammer. If a cheater really wants to go through all of this to try and prove their points, then the staff should not be afraid to lose since they should have clear evidence to show the jury, and if a clean player is banned by mistake, this will allow them to have a real chance to defend themself, instead of filling a report that will have no weight and no power against the staff’s decision. The goal with this is also to bring visibility to what happens behind the federal jail’s walls. That way, the staff cannot just take decisions based on what they want instead of what should be done without some players witnessing it.
I know that matchmaking is based on the faction members' stats and therefore, accepting new members during the war or once matched can be unfair. However, couldn't there be a option to save a place for someone who's applying during war time? Like accepting during war or war prep would put the applicant on a list that'll automatically officially add them to the faction once it's possible. That way we don't lose our applicants that get tired of waiting 4-5 days and go see somewhere else.

That's what the staff always do. The politics in torn are becoming a lot like the ones in authoritarian countries. Always the staff denying and gaslighting, helped by a group of feetlicker players who I guess try to earn the favors of the staff by supporting their decisions like zombies without caring about the real situation to look like there is the whole world against players victim of injustice who dare to express their opinion.

that's what I'm doing, but even if I personally message twenty people, only one answers me. I'm always actively looking for people without faction and I take whoever wants to join whether they be level 1 or 50 with or without torn experience, I made countless announces in forum, the trade chat and in the newspaper, clearly announcing our perks and war/OC payouts but it doesn't seem to pay off. I don't really know what to do more.
Oh no you found out about my true intentions xD. No it's simply that ww're not a big faction with fame and influence so when people are applying it's safe to assume that they applied elsewhere too at the same time. As a small faction the competition to recruit members is fierce and we often havr to go through weeks of recruitment advertising to only get 1 application so when we do get one, we wanna make sure we keep it.

What about extending Torn's criminal reputation overseas? I think that making some crimes in Torn available abroad, or with slight modifications, should be a great add to the game. I always feel like wasting my nerve when I have to go on a big trip like traveling to SA or China. Maybe in a future Crime 3.0.?
Mine is Tungsten, the element with the highest melting point. Or it could be Helium too, cause once liquid, it can pass through many materials since it has a viscosity close to none when it's cold enough to condensate.
