This is my first Black Friday and I can't complain so far. I got a couple things, nothing extremely rare or valuable. It takes just a minute or two to scan through every bazaar to see what is available to me. I think people need to lower their entitlement level and they will enjoy this event more.
I am ideally looking for a reviving faction, I am active daily (never missed a day since I joined) and am working on increasing my revive skill.
I don't mind occasional chaining but I would prefer no RW because I have never been a part of factions that do them so I would not really know what I am doing. Apart from that I have low battle stats also so I don't think I would be helpful.
I have NNB of 65 and will be present on time for OCs.
I do primarily play on mobile but will use my laptop to revive easier since I can use scripts and tools not present on mobile. I work a job with long and weird hours so that is why I usually use mobile. (But I have been known to sneak chain hits at work :D)
This is my second Halloween and I am more "casual" player than many others and I have enjoyed it both times. I have not yet exchanged any treats and am waiting until my basket is upgraded for maximum return. Part of the fun of the event is seeing progress year after year, and the anticipation of the event makes it much sweeter.
Torn is not a game of immediate satisfaction, the quicker noobs learn this, the better experience they will have.
You just did the opposite of what a new player should do by posting this. Read Baldr's guide and avoid making yourself a target with forum posts such as this.
I knew I won one time when I was new but I looked in my log and I won twice, I think there is a large enough base of subscribers it is not impossible to happen more than one time. And big factions are all usually subscribers, subscribing gives a large competitive advantage so of course the big factions have them, I don't think it's strange that they have a large percent of winners.
Other claims, like lower number of forum posts, I don't know the forum mechanics but they could be posting in their faction forum or maybe deleted posts. And you cannot see points networth because you cannot see breakdown of any of the networth, this would not be a good idea to implement. Networth breakdown is hidden for a reason, think about the scripts that people could make if this were public, muggings would be brutal.

I wouldn't do business next, it is not the best choice for a player your age who is not a company director or immediately about to become one. On the tutorials section of the forum there are good guides that will direct you how to best complete education.
As others have stated the benefits will only compound, while you may not find them useful now they will be in the later months and years ahead of you. Everything in Torn works and fits together, so to be good at your future playstyle, whether that is warring, reviving, trading, crimes, etc, education completion is important to remain competitive with other players your level and gain the best advantages to your playstyle.
Crime success unlock seems to be when you unlock new districts for graffiti.

I had this issue with iPhone on iOS 16.0.2 using Chrome browser, I cleared browsing data and chat is now appearing. EDIT: and now after 10 minutes it's disappeared again and I have only notes.
For me, it was a tough choice between burglary and search for cash. Search for cash still has amazing mechanics relating to both real world phenomena like the tides and player activity, but burglary feels to me like you actually are staking out properties, having to wait if they are unsafe, and although I have not yet progressed very far, seems like a lot of different areas and outcomes can be explored. Burglary also hands down beats search for cash in outcomes obviously but I tried not to let that guide my opinion strictly about the mechanics.
Card skimming is close up there as well due it it being semi-strategic and less of button clicking like graffiti and bootlegging. However I will say I love all of crimes 2.0 a lot so far.
This was my first Elimination ever since I wasn't around last year. I didn't know what to expect at all, and as a more casual player I don't know much about drama in the community here and faction drama. Maybe it was because I was on one of the teams it was "rigged" (allegedly) for I had a lot of fun, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked being a cog in the machine and following the orders made by leaders, it made me feel for the first time like part of the larger community on here. I think Elimination maybe a little inspired me to become a more engaged/competitive player. I want to do even better for my team next year.
I open the map always expecting nothing, and that makes any find exciting. Plus I am still trying to complete the medal for city finds so anything I find is good to me.
