Proposed Feature: Torn City Professional Sports League
How it Would Work
Teams would be the core of this feature. A player could pay to create a team, and other players could sign up to join. Each team would have a limited number of slots, say between 5-10 players, to ensure teams are tight-knit and competitive. At this point all roles not filled will be auto filled with generic NPCs. The Creator of the team and/or a team leader would be the one to sign up the "team" for races. This can be designated to 1-3 players so this way the team can still function or race. This role can be voted on once every month.
As such within a team, players would be assigned specific roles based on their stats and skills:
The Drive Team (Main Starter & Secondary): This would be for the highest-stats racers on the team. Their performance would directly impact the outcome of the main races.
Pit Crew/Mechanics: Players with high Dexterity or Intelligence could take on this role. They could use their skills to give the drive team bonuses during a race, like faster pit stops or in-race repairs.
Coach/Strategist: Players with high Intelligence could serve as the team's coach. Their role would be to make strategic decisions before a race to give the team a tactical advantage.
This feature would give all players, regardless of their combat or racing stats, a meaningful role on a team. Instead of just fighting or training, we could specialize in a new field and contribute to a group effort.
Why This Feature Would Be a Good Addition
Creates New Player Content: This would provide a new, engaging, and long-term goal for players. It’s a great alternative for those who want a break from the standard crime and training loop.
Boosts Teamwork and Community: The specific roles would require real strategy and collaboration, giving players a new reason to work together and strengthening the game's community. It also gives Torn the ability to create Special Events and more depths to the already URT racing events.
Expands the Economy: This feature could introduce new items and mechanics, like unique car parts, specialized training materials, or team-specific bonuses, creating a new market within the game.
Adds to the World of Torn: A professional sports league would make Torn City feel even more like a living, breathing world, with its own culture and high-stakes events. It’s a natural fit for a city full of criminals always looking for a new hustle.
Adds to the Honor/Award System : This way it creates potential for a whole new honor bars!
We could also keep the brackets such as abc's etc.. leagues to keep competitions fair as well. This will give new outlook on an already overlooked feature such as racing.
Also maybe adding in-game physical trophys one could put in their display too would be cool to see.
Adding in 3 month tournaments that auto-generate. And anything in between would be standard racing to improve the team's skills.
Also during standard racing the longer the players stay in the team the higher the "bonus" would be added such as the example for "companies".
